One is going to hit it's target within hours. One has failed to raise much cash in the time allowed.

Curious.

Although I'm surprised 1225 people were so easily parted from £47,550.

Average £38.8 - there are surely plenty of women who have sums in the region of £10-100 for a one-off cause they deem important , so I'm not sure why you'd be surprised? Confused
(I've only just got back from vacation and haven't been doing any financial transactions so not me this time.)

Just read the mission statement from The Vagina Museum. Mostly all good, very commendable. But not sure how trans inclusivity ties in to recognising and educating on female biology.

Surely the two parts of their mission are at odds with each other. I thought the current line was there was no such thing as biological women.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 06/05/2019 11:24

Grin I might chase it up on iPlayer.

My final fuck-off moment for the vagina museum was the announcement, at the end of the event I went to, that their next event would include a book signing by Sophie LaBelle of Assigned Male. Despite the said Sophie having tweeted about girlhood & womanhood ‘not being defined by genitalia’...

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 06/05/2019 11:19

It was a good programme discussing Dickens, Shakespeare, Chaucer and, of course, Madigan.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 06/05/2019 11:15

The vagina museum would be better named the front hole museum for all the respect they appear to have for women 🍆.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 06/05/2019 11:14

were you listening to R4 this morning too? I should have been more on the ball there.

No, I just saw Madigan’s pithy use of four-letter expletives!

littlbrowndog · 06/05/2019 11:01

i maginevsaying to your kids. We are off to the vagina museum.

Or the penis museum.

Cripes

The reading the bios of who is on the advisory board. I am like 😮

I see Labour's favourite 'woman's officer' has waded into the debate with a pithy, insightful and almost Shakespearian input to the topic on twitter.

More Chaucerian, I thought.

Mmm where to spend my currently SMP limited funds a TRA museum or a hugely significant legal case for not just women but freedom of speech and the right/not to belief.

The Vagina Museum is being run by a load of TRA. They have Juno Roche on the board.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 05/05/2019 22:53

Bloody delighted it raised a smile, am sure there's plenty of grim shite swinging around you just now.

Hang in there, it's going to be a rough few weeks, but, you are absolutely not alone.

Thank you for what you are doing.

(Also, vagina museum focused on female stuff would probably have sailed - but, "first and foremost inclusive" just sucks cock. I do hope they can do the maths. Women help women they see help women)

I am printing out the title of this thread. I think it will go in a frame somewhere Grin

I wonder if it will turn up in Google searches for my name for ever after. Blush

DpWm · 05/05/2019 19:19

Lass
Judged by Mumsnet standards I am probably right wing
Aren't you a paid up member of the Conservative Party?
Is that a different Lass...? Confused...

GrumpyGran8 · 05/05/2019 17:57

I haven't donated to either. I do however have a monthly standing order to the Cats' Protection League. Judged by Mumsnet standards I am probably right wing.
If you're a woman and you love cats, that makes you a witch.
So, welcome sister! Grin

RepealTheGRA · 05/05/2019 17:34

That’s a good point, why are we crowdfunding for anything? Why aren’t we just dipping into our massive pot of right wing funding from America? Wink

MrsTerryPratchett · 05/05/2019 17:25

I wonder who funded the penis museum in Iceland.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 05/05/2019 13:35

That sounds like a really grim idea.

Like when Saartje Baartman's vulva was excised and exhibited after her death.

What about a women's biology museum or a women's culture museum?

LassOfFyvie · 05/05/2019 13:35

martinidry · 05/05/2019 13:34

Wait! A vagina museum? What the heck!
Thanks, but I'll support Maya.

HermioneWeasley · 05/05/2019 13:29

Because all the hundreds of women who have donated are actually cover for American right wing religious fundamentalists, and it’s a way of supporting horrible bigoted women without the connection being spotted

(Sarcasm)

FaithFrank · 05/05/2019 13:25

Maybe because an employment tribunal case is an entirely different thing than a museum Hmm
