I can’t believe what I’ve just watched. Eddie Izzard is on Joe Rogan saying ALL bathrooms should be gender neutral and completely dismissed the concerns women have that Joe brought up. He dismissed it as “people always complain when there’s change”

The whole thing is so selfish and entitled.

Maybe that's why he doesn't feel safe in the blokes' - he keeps trying to make conversation with the chap using the urinal next to him Smile

oops I should have said I agree with you and was referring to the article.

In what way did he face all his fears? He continued to change his clothes in a space designated for women instead of facing his fears in the mens toilets. In so doing he was sending women a clear message that his fears and need to be safe trump theirs. He bent the rules to his own end but that’s ok, isn’t it? 😡

Im not even allowed to talk to dh when he is having a wee

Apparently it puts him off

BettyDuMonde · 05/05/2019 20:21

Why would I want to have a chat with a man having a shit?

Well, quite.
Even my dogs prefer to shit in the most secluded part of the backyard.

My dogs have better manners than Eddie Izzard.

howonearthdidwegethere · 05/05/2019 20:18

He thinks it funny that teenage girls were alarmed to find him getting changed in a women's public toilet.

So he can fuck right off IMO.

Maybe Eddie Izzard is a Lizzard?

LarryGreysonsDoor · 05/05/2019 20:09

This kind of argument proves to me that men think that they are the default and women are some odd faulty kind of men. Men can get through the day without needing to bleed all over the place so why can’t women do the same.

49andFruity · 05/05/2019 20:08

I read about women in India sneaking out to the fields in the dead of night to toilet to avoid men.

A quick google will bring up many articles about the direct link between a lack of toilets in India and rape.

OldCrone · 05/05/2019 20:07

Menstruation and miscarriage won't have occured to Eddie, Neurotrash. He doesn't think biological sex exists, and we're all just on a spectrum. Someone should explain to him where babies come from.

LarryGreysonsDoor · 05/05/2019 20:05

But this is it.
Men simply don’t think about what women use the toilets for.
They go in there to shit and piss, that’s it.
They don’t understand what women use the space for, yet they think they can tell us what to do.

"I used to love Eddie Izzard. He was funny, intelligent, kind and genuinely happy to be a gender nonconforming man. These days he's just your standard middle aged pervy bloke."

This. In the 90s DD and I absolutely loved his shows and to be honest the best of them are still brilliant. Fast forward 20 years and I couldn't bring myself to watch more than a couple of minutes of that interview. What a self-centred, entitled letdown he is. Not just feet of clay, but all of him.

Links for Datun's figures.

Nine out of 10 changing-room sexual complaints relate to incidents in unisex facilities — although they make up less than half of all provision.

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/sex-pests-target-women-in-mixed-changing-rooms-x3vw2lnv8

fairplayforwomen.com/examples/

men are responsible for 85% of all indictable crimes in England and Wales, 88% of crimes against the person, 90% of murders, and 98% of sexual offences (all for the year to June 2012).

fullfact.org/crime/bad-and-dangerous-know-do-men-commit-almost-all-crime/

That figure is for 2012, but I don't think it's changed much in the last few years. Current figures will be on the ONS site.

NeurotrashWarrior · 05/05/2019 19:57

Banging on about having a simple pop.

Menstruation?

Miscarriage?

Wanker.

ChattyLion · 05/05/2019 19:38

I used to love Eddie Izzard back from cats drilling behind the sofa days. I can’t stand him now, he’s reinforcing gender stereotypes not messing with them. What a disappointment he is.

foreverhanging · 05/05/2019 19:37

Eddie izzard can fuck the fuck off

Datun · 05/05/2019 19:36

To find someone funny, you have to have a certain empathy with them. Whether it's vulnerability, or a shared experience. There has to be some kind of connection.

Otherwise they're just a cunt.

There is no repeat experience because it's not pleasant enough to put yourself through it again.

And now Izzard, who used to be bloody funny, and seemed fairly analytical about the fact that he was a man wearing women's clothing, is just another self entitled, male cross dresser - bandwagon jumping to serve his own ends.

If he wanted to jump into a cohort, it's the wrong fucking one, mate.

Entitled, patriarchal men, aren't bloody funny. They're two a penny.

CharlieParley · 05/05/2019 19:29

wigglybeezer IIRC 10% of males are afflicted with a shy bladder. My boys completely refused to use the toilets at primary school unless in dire, dire straits. Used to have to get home very quickly at pickup time as they were usually desperate. For my boys probably a combination of their revulsion at the state of the boys toilets and not wanting to go in a shared space. And these were single-sex toilets (the girls toilets were much cleaner btw).

And 250,000 miscarriages happen in the UK every year, many in public toilets.

As for the idiot male of the day, I lost all respect for him when I saw his griping about the incident with the teenage girls.

But and this is a big but, I am ever so delighted to report that his example has proven incredibly helpful in illustrating just how insane the current situation is.

While talking to your average person who repeats the TWAW mantra or says things like "identifies as a woman" or gives you the usual half arsed talking points about "most vulnerable", "most marginalised", I like to bring up Eddie Izzard. A lot of the time, the penny drops there and then. Not just because he is so well known, but because those who do know of him, know that he has always maintained that he was simply a man who liked to wear dresses, that he is straight, successful, well off and a big bloke. And while this isn't much discussed, they do know that he crossdresses for his own pleasure.

And he doesn't fit their idea of the homosexual transsexuals who are so distressed at their male body that they undergo radical procedures such as castration and emasculation with subsequent cosmetic surgeries to construct a simulacrum of a vulva.

Truly, a useful idiot if there ever was one. A Not a nice judgement of him by any measure, but no man appropriating womanhood and supporting the abolition of women's sex-based rights deserves even an iota of respect from me.

*pythons.

BertrandRussell · 05/05/2019 19:23

“I was disappointed when John Clees turned out to be a boring, whiney sexist”

He always was. Have you heard Miriam Margolyes on the subject or the Puthons?

Jedeye · 05/05/2019 19:18

My experience of sharing public toilets with men is that they stink of piss. There really are so so many reasons for not sharing.

lookatallthepeaches · 05/05/2019 19:15

Can you direct me to the research that differentiates between these types of cubicle? Because I've looked and I can't find it.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 05/05/2019 19:12

What difference does it make Jessica Wakefield? I don't see how they're less safe than cubicles in a room. I suggest you go and do some research, the data shows that any unisex toilets have a higher rate of assaults on women. We need separate ones away from men.

lookatallthepeaches · 05/05/2019 19:10

Also, I was having trouble setting up my account last night but really wanted clarification on this, so I screen shotted, is this true and does anyone have a link?
