MN have deleted the thread started by Maya - who lost her job for speaking up for women- because it talks about her crowdfunding for legal costs

Here is today's times article on the case https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/tax-expert-fired-for-saying-trans-women-aren-t-women-tpqgnm9vj?shareToken=3f12f5cae61c02fd41040eb816fd37b4&wgu=2705255426441557045162977940f0d76fa1&wgexpiry=1564821162&utmmsource=planit&utmmedium=affiliate&utmm_content=22278

Just catching up here and, having rocked out to Annie and Aretha (thanks Prawn - a more fitting song would be hard to find Grin), I'm filled with a proper sense of sisterly solidarity. The feeling started last week with caro's indefatigability in the face of bullying misogyny - and now this.

The rebirth of a proper women's movement - women politically supporting women. Thank you Mumsnet for enabling that on this board Flowers It must be difficult, stressy, infuriating, tiring, frightening, tiresome and a hundred and one other things none of us want to encounter when we go to work - but you're doing it.
It's important and it matters.

welshgendercrit · 05/05/2019 23:31

After a very stirring day, 39,700 is a nice round figure to go to bed on. Grin

EmpressoftheMundane · 05/05/2019 23:30

Good question, who does fund CGD?

EmpressoftheMundane · 05/05/2019 23:29

I’m filled with admiration for you Maya. You are smart and brave. I donated. I worry about your lost income...most families would struggle.

SirVixofVixHall · 05/05/2019 23:03

Who funds CGD ?

BlackeyedGruesome · 05/05/2019 22:40

And Medical diagnoses... Two years hear nothing then forms to fill, distribute and return in less than two weeks.

Hoping you have less than a two year with. Hope the waits are not too long and that the stressful bits aren't too bad.

Good luck and thank you for taking it to court.

LangCleg · 05/05/2019 22:38

I'd just like to thank Loon for a stellar four contributions by proxy to um... the first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club. Because I am still playing my game.

VortexofBloggery · 05/05/2019 22:18

Good luck Maya. Donated to and shared the thing. Wine

FloralBunting · 05/05/2019 22:18

I have been told to expect periods of stress and drama with lots of waiting in between.

Sort of like a legal version of a menstrual cycle. Grin

With you all the way xx

Cuntysnark · 05/05/2019 22:09

Sending you a tonne of support FiredMaya

FiredMaya · 05/05/2019 22:07

Just popping back to say I love Mumsnet.

I came back to see if I could figure out how to answer tricky questions about the thing we cannot talk about, but I see it's all under control and they've been answered.

I don't know how the case will go in terms of pre-hearing and/or full merits hearing or how much support I will need, so need to be a bit flexible - any leftover support if there is any can be allocated to another case when it's over.

In terms of timing any hearing won't be till late in the year. I put the claim in to the tribunal back in March. They are supposed to turn it around and send it to the employer quickly, but in practice there is a backlog so it is still in the judge's in-tray. Once it reaches the employer they have 28 days to reply. Then it goes from there.... with more delays for tribunal backlogs. I have been told to expect periods of stress and drama with lots of waiting in between.

Today has been a highlight. It has been amazing to see so much the support. I have so many messages to respond to!

LesbianMeansSomething · 05/05/2019 22:02

Martina donated and tweeted about the thing.

My heroine growing up and my heroine now. Smile

welshgendercrit · 05/05/2019 21:50

Prawn that summed up today perfectly. I hadn't actually seen it before and loved it.

TalkingintheDark · 05/05/2019 21:50

It's wonderful watching the rebirth of a proper women's rights movement smile

Oh yes, Pencils, it really is! ❤️

AnotherLass · 05/05/2019 21:48

Someone just left a comment on THE THING in a language that Google Translate says is Maori. Solidarity with any Maori supporters out there...

Cuntysnark · 05/05/2019 21:42

Watching Maya’a crowdfunder grow is a joy.

cwg1 · 05/05/2019 21:33

Pencils Yes. I can only say how shamefully ignorant I was about this until just over a year ago. You wonderful women really are making history - campaigning, debating, lobbying with steadfast determination. Courage calls to courage everywhere Flowers

Datun · 05/05/2019 21:30

Some wonderful comments on here. Being fucking furious does not stop many women being profoundly philosophical and creative.

FloralBunting · 05/05/2019 21:25

Yeah, can I just point out that, given MNHQ have made clear the whole thread is under threat of deletion if THE THING is linked to/referenced, can I ask everyone to be mindful of why someone who clearly agrees that women should be sacked for wrongthink would want to ask pointedly specific questions about THE THING?

I don't like this shit any more than any of you. But let's be wise women and not let the controllers have their way.

50shadesofgreyrock · 05/05/2019 21:20

Fair enough resister. You have greater confidence in the mn moderation team in the face of TRA challenge than I do, so hopefully I’m overly concerned. Smile

Lamaha · 05/05/2019 20:58

Please don't discuss The Thing. Let loon figure it out on their own.

littlbrowndog · 05/05/2019 20:57

Yes prawn. The energy and fight

We have it here

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 05/05/2019 20:55

I've pledged. You should never be sacked for stating biological fact.

S1naidSucks · 05/05/2019 20:52

It's wonderful watching the rebirth of a proper women's rights movement.

What a brilliant way to put it. It’s like the real suffrage’s have been reborn.
