MN have deleted the thread started by Maya - who lost her job for speaking up for women- because it talks about her crowdfunding for legal costs

Here is today's times article on the case https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/tax-expert-fired-for-saying-trans-women-aren-t-women-tpqgnm9vj?shareToken=3f12f5cae61c02fd41040eb816fd37b4&wgu=2705255426441557045162977940f0d76fa1&wgexpiry=1564821162&utmmsource=planit&utmmedium=affiliate&utmm_content=22278

Madigan for me was the end of any shred of remaining credibility for Labour. For the many obvious reasons.

On the plus side, a Chinese proverb I ran across this morning that seems highly apt to Maya and this thread: When sleeping women wake, mountains move.

TheRedBarrows · 06/05/2019 10:52

“I don’t care if Madigan does not represent nor speak, in your view, for all of the Labour Party! The person, Madigan is being permitted to verbally abuse and insult women, in a typical misogynistic fashion, BY the Labour Party. For as long as the Labour Party continues to not just support, but condone Madigan and other misogynistic Labour Party representatives, they will continue to lose the support of women. “

This.

This woman’s vote will support Labour on our local level because they are doing a good job in the borough (and are not Corbyn -ites ) but never, ever in a GA again. Unless they have a clear manifesto which they then prove themselves in sticking to.

LangCleg · 06/05/2019 10:44

I don't think they have clear politics at all. They are a gang.

Yes, a definite Woke hierarchy in the activist base. Which is in fundamental conflict with the voting base outside of London. And a leadership that knows it needs both the activists and the non-London voters for any route to power and is trying - and failing, if you ask me - to find a bridge between them.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 06/05/2019 10:42

Labour has had plenty of opportunities to dissociate itself from Madigan's misogyny but has done nothing whatsoever to do so, despite women members in their droves quitting the party and telling them why.
So either they are on side with Madigan or women don't matter enough to even be heard. Either way, it's not good for women Labour supporters.

S1naidSucks · 06/05/2019 10:42

Not much to be bothered about in the bigger picture.

A woman’s role has been taken by Madigan, but you don’t think that’s a problem? Seriously? ANY role that has been created by for women is important. It’s the fact that the Labour leader has that attitude that alienates women.

S1naidSucks · 06/05/2019 10:38

Madigan does not represent nor speak for all of the Labour party

Labour Losing Women, will continue and so it should.

DpWm · 06/05/2019 10:36

Ok, ok.
So LM is "National Women's Officer" for Labour Students.

So, fine. Not much to be bothered about in the bigger picture. There probably wasn't much competition.

DpWm · 06/05/2019 10:34

^
Oh. Didn't read the link.
Hang on.
National Women's officer?

But just for this Student wing of the LP right? Not like, the real LP.

R0wantrees · 06/05/2019 10:33

has become irrelevant, which is why they are now up in the ante. '

Narcissism its about supply, positive or negative.

Article worth reading for anyone who believes they might be dealing with a person (of either sex and any gender identity) demonstrating narcisstic control pattern behaviour & also those unfamiliar with patterns & importance of supply.

'Narcissists, Narcissistic Supply And Sources of Supply'
(extract)
Question:
Could negative input serve as Narcissistic Supply (NS)?

Answer:
Yes, it can. NS includes all forms of attention - both positive and negative: fame, notoriety, adulation, fear, applause, approval. Whenever the narcissist gets attention, positive or negative, whenever he is in the "limelight", it constitutes NS. If he can manipulate people or influence them - positively or negatively - it qualifies as NS.

Even quarrelling with people and confronting them constitute NS. Perhaps not the conflict itself, but the narcissist's ability to influence other people, to make them feel the way he wants, to manipulate them, to make them do something or refrain from doing it - all count as forms of narcissistic supply." Madigan does not represent nor speak for all of the Labour party...
They're basically some sort of Women's Labour Party Person at their university, Goldsmiths.
They'll never be anyone important.

MrsBertBibby · 06/05/2019 10:30

Labour List report on the stunning democracy of Labour Students that enabled Madigan to sweep to a landslide victory as national women's officer for Labour Srudents (not the NUS, ffs)

merrymouse · 06/05/2019 10:29

Labour is now a liberal - not a left or socialist - party

I don't think they have clear politics at all. They are a gang. Quite happy to talk about Assange, but crickets on everything else.

merrymouse · 06/05/2019 10:27

labourlist.org/2019/03/rania-ramli-elected-labour-students-chair-as-corbynsceptics-sweep-to-victory/

According to this Lily Madigan is the new Women's officer.

LangCleg · 06/05/2019 10:27

So Labour - what used to be the workers party and done so much for workers rights don't care about unfair dismissal as long as they are being woke.

Correct. Labour is now a liberal - not a left or socialist - party, despite its putatively socialist leadership because its activist base has been infiltrated by queer theorists. And it wonders why its traditional voters aren't that keen. Sad.

R0wantrees · 06/05/2019 10:25

Maya Forstarter's article is really worth reading as has the background & context. Also so important to hear her words:

(extract)
"This will be an important test case in the UK on whether having ‘gender critical’ beliefs is protected under the Equality Act 2010 (in the same way as other religious or philosophical beliefs). I will be represented by solicitors Slater and Gordon and employment barrister Anya Palmer of Old Square Chambers.

If we can establish this point in law it would help people who are currently afraid to speak up for fear of losing their jobs or being treated differently by their employer. It would also help people facing discrimination outside of work. For example political parties and membership organisations that suspend people for expressing such beliefs, venues that refuse to host public meetings and social media platforms that discriminate against gender critical feminists would need to re-think their policies or they too would face claims for discrimination." So Labour - what used to be the workers party and done so much for workers rights don't care about unfair dismissal as long as they are being woke. That will be why #labourlosingwomen and no doubt a fair few men now more light is being shined on the madness.

Another great article by JK and even mentions the thing we must not mention!

OvaHere · 06/05/2019 10:20

Thanks R0 yes that was the thread I was thinking of.

TimeLady · 06/05/2019 10:19

There doesn't even have to be any direct connection between the philanthropists and the organisations, does there?

If views expressed might somehow be perceived as 'wrongthink' by those with the funds, then any organisation is probably worried about ending up on an informal black list. So you can start to see why 'wrongthink' is deemed a problem by think tanks, academia and medical facilities, all big beneficiaries of philanthropic funding.

And being GC isundoubtedly 'wrongthink' in the Pritzker and Soros worlds

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 06/05/2019 10:18

'Madigan has become irrelevant, which is why they are now up in the ante. '

But the Labour Party is still perfectly happy to have Madigan speaking for them.
Even though they are speaking against workers' rights, which used to be what the party stood for.
Labour is a mess. Oh, and kinder, gentler politics? How hollow was that?

SarahTancredi · 06/05/2019 10:17

Should Lily Madigan be sacked for telling people to ‘Go fuck yourself’?

Well of 2 people posted that we know the one who is minus appendage would be fired.

What is it that gives people the confidence to post this stuff I wonder.

R0wantrees · 06/05/2019 10:17

Does anyone remember the thread where we were discussing the high level Tory MP that wanted to push self ID through at any cost (as alluded to in a Kirkup article)?

There was discussion about high level Tory MPs using their power to try to enable transgenderism & silence those raising questions and concerns:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3396459-David-Davies-MP-speaks-out-about-harrassment-calls-for-stop-to-GRA-reform-urgent-review-involving-womens-groups

TheRedBarrows · 06/05/2019 10:16

But I take Datun’s point that Lily is irrelevant.

TheRedBarrows · 06/05/2019 10:14

Very unladylike Lily Madigan Wink

See, if I ran a political party, any political party, I would not tolerate people in their role representing that party telling anyone to “go fuck your self”. Debating, putting a different POV, yes.

And that is the point.

Should Lily Madigan be sacked for telling people to ‘Go fuck yourself’?
