How Many Of These Secret Gross Girl Things Have You Done, Really?
We're all a little bit gross.

Plucked your nipple hair.

Continued to wear pants that have period blood on them,.

got your pubes trapped in your pads wings,.

bled on to your sheets a TINY bit but were too tired to change them ASAP

Only shaved bits of skin that would show.

Worn a pair of underwear even when you couldn't get the period stains out.

I love the idea of ‘Carrie’ bedsheets.

This way you keep nice sheets nice (ours aren't colorful but light blues and grays) and "Carrie" sheets still look nice because dark colors hide the tide of menses hurricanes or tsunamis or however yours present. 🤓

In our house I cheerfully announce the arrival of “lady-time” by telling DP it’s time to ring Moses, the Red Sea is approaching...!

😂

Strange, isn't it, how we're all responding differently to menopause? I'm very dark-haired and have not been very troubled at all by facial hair (I've never had the nipple issue) and my legs from the knees downwards are definitely getting less hairy.

Knees upwards? I'm like the fucking Yeti woman.

BeansandRice · 01/05/2019 17:13

VickyEadie I'm your age, and Ive found that I have less body hair on legs, armpits, and pubic area, but the chin & neck hairs drive me to distraction! I pluck every day. Sometimes I think it would be easier just to shave my chin ... I'm blonde & very fair-skinned so the black fuckers really show up.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 01/05/2019 15:16

Sounds about right, but not clicking the link as basically, they will just do more articles like this as they reckon its the shit people want to read. Telling women they are vile for being women..

hipsterfun · 01/05/2019 13:18

Every day’s a school day on MN!

[takes notes re likely future nature and distribution of body hair]

FermatsTheorem · 01/05/2019 11:23

Post menopause too Vicky, though Dennis (is it wrong to give a rogue hair a name?) has been around for quite a while. My pubes are going to the other post menopausal extreme and thinning so I'm in camp "hairy pits not making quite as much of a political statement as I'd hoped" Grin

LangCleg · 01/05/2019 10:55

But it turns out I hardly have any hair there so it's not the bold statement I intended.

HA! Snap! I've only got child-like wispy leg hair as well. So my Hairy Statement has never been much of a statement.

VickyEadie · 01/05/2019 10:51

FermatsTheorem

I don't know how old you are, but since the menopause (I'm now 60), I have developed Denis Healey eyebrow tendencies where there were none before.

Also post-menopause: pube explosion. And they're growing in places they never did before...

Whatisthisfuckery · 01/05/2019 08:34

Ok confession time.

When I was in my early teens I was chewing gum in the bath, as you do. Somehow I dropped the gum out of my mouth and it landed in my pubes. Fucking hell did it hurt trying to get that out. I had to get the scissors in the end and cut it out. Do not, and I repeat do not, put chewing gum anywhere near your pubic hair.

BeansandRice · 01/05/2019 08:28

Tagging on to the OP - the Buzzfeed writer seems (from the summary, I'm not succumbing to clickbait) to be rather weirdly obsessed by period blood. It's just blood. The article looks a bit perverted.

Has that young pillar of the community Jessica Yaniv started writing for them?

(warning on googling the name I cite - the results are NSFW)

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 01/05/2019 07:33

I stopped shaving my pits at 14 after being struck with admiration for French girls with lots of black underarm hair. I've never shaved since. But it turns out I hardly have any hair there so it's not the bold statement I intended.

StopThePlanet · 01/05/2019 02:12

I can honestly say I’ve never done any of those things. Fuck me im fucking perfect 😇

Snort lmao, thanks I needed more coffee in my sinus today - no really! 😆

floraloctopus · 01/05/2019 01:49

nothing worse than trapping some pubes in a popper.

Clearly you have never caught them in the zip of some new jeans. Double agony. I never did work out what to say to the neighbours who knocked on the door to check everything was OK.

StopThePlanet · 01/05/2019 01:35

frenchonion

the first time we DTD in full flow as it were

Ha! Us too - between my scars and wonderful endometriosis period fun I thought he would run. A one night stand I initiated turned into 24yrs (so far) - never thought that would happen! I was very much hit it, quit it, no emotional attachment (worked different with female partners).

Now code for 'I'm on my period' is 'I'm in the posh club'

Lmao, brilliant! 😂

Bettydumonde

We call periods ‘magical lady-time’ in our house.

I call it that sometimes as well (where did it come from? I think I got it from my mom maybe) along with a lot of odd references I won't subject you to.

FloralBunting · 01/05/2019 01:17

I'm dealing with involuntary shudders at the idea of a partner plucking my chest hair with their teeth. Not nearly as appealing as a quiet moment alone with the tweezers.

What a delightful kaleidoscope we all are.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 01/05/2019 00:56

Whatisthisfuckery
Legit lol

BettyDuMonde · 01/05/2019 00:23

Frenchonion that’s amazing and made me genuinely LOL.

I thought special covers for preventing period stains was pretty out there, but now I know at least three people who’ve taken it further and given their sex blankets/towels/sheets unique names and I’m 😂

We call periods ‘magical lady-time’ in our house. No idea why or where it came from.

DiscoDown · 01/05/2019 00:08

I have a period sex towel which I just chuck over the bed (then throw in the corner til the next morning when we're done). DP is as happy to have sex with me when I'm on my period as any other time, which is a refreshing change from XH who thought periods were disgusting. Bollocks to feeling shame for normal bodily functions and associated stains.

Whatisthisfuckery · 30/04/2019 23:49

I always thought that tit hairs were best plucked by one’s partner’s teeth.

and I get into period stained sheets the next month, because I’m fucking lazy.

Hahaha, Buzzfeed, you don’t know the half of it, you fucking amateurs.

So much this!!!! Lmao!

StopThePlanet · 30/04/2019 23:40

WrathofscumKlop

For the record, our period sheets are not specially made sheets I just gave them a special name "Carrie" dark blue and black to hide the continuous staining - I'm not into spending energy on sheet stains and as you know it doesn't come out in the wash without additional effort. We use a plastic-backed mattress pad (a more mature version of bed wetter's mattress pads so they don't make that weird plastic noise) to protect the mattress along with "Carrie" sheets. As a result our mattresses have stayed their crisp original color - looking/smelling good to donate upon purchasing new mattresses.

However, I've been having night sweats a lot so I have now invested in a number of plastic-backed mattress pads as changing the sheets has now become a daily occurrence. Stupid hormones - I hate going to bed clean and waking up smelly and sticky.

hipsterfun · 30/04/2019 23:38

May I just add:

Hahaha, Buzzfeed, you don’t know the half of it, you fucking amateurs.

terfsandwich · 30/04/2019 23:22

Libfems always say, it's your choice! No one is forcing you! Why do you think you have to do this!
Then they say, I do it, but because reasons! Not because of patriarchy!
