'Problematic' - calling card of the Ultra Woke?

Whenever I read an article which has some kind of thought or behaviour described as 'problematic', it's inevitably a giveaway that the Ultra Woke want something they class as 'wrongthink' to be banned, shut down or otherwise expunged as it represents an unwelcome detour from the One True Path?

Do others agree? And are there other such phrases that set the Spidey Sense tingling?

Oh thank you Buzz, it just gave me ‘There is no need for you to acknowledge the great big lie’ followed by ‘Are you aware that you are being spied on?’

And a non paranoid happy Easter to you too!

BuzzPeakWankBobbly · 21/04/2019 17:25

OMG I shit you not, this was the very first one it generated for me!!!

I love the idea of the woke phrase generator

this is halfway there already: inspirobot.me/

FloralBunting · 21/04/2019 16:58

Let's not forgo 'wow...just wow'. Often it's the only possible response to some of truly astonishing guff the AWA Genderists splurge out.

WeRiseUp · 21/04/2019 16:24

Extra points for pretentious word salad!

WeRiseUp · 21/04/2019 16:23

Also the woke phrase generator could be like an after dinner game - a bit like consequences.

The generator comes up with a phrase and the guests need to concoct a grievance that is described by it. Grin hours of fun.

I love the idea of the woke phrase generator

A friend of mine created a 'film plot generator' programme one afternoon which brought a lot mirth. I reckon this would be just as fruitful.

As in: 'So you think [opposite/exaggeration of what person has just written]. Wow... just wow.'

Yep, absolutely.

I love the idea of the woke phrase generator.

In a similar vein, 'wow... just wow'.

How about 'literal' & 'literally', used wrongly?

And tweets which end with an ironic & very annoying phrase like '... but OK', usually after misrepresenting the other person's argument?

WeRiseUp · 21/04/2019 16:08

Bit ‘problematic’ fitting that on a tee shirt

Ha ha Grin it's about as punchy and memorable as 'Non-binary people are.. valid" after rousing round of 'TWAW TMAM'.

WeRiseUp · 21/04/2019 16:06

It's annoying they are all words for blokes now. Many with disturbing fetishes.

S1naidSucks · 21/04/2019 16:04

I am a feminist, by that I mean someone, not an antifeminist, who prioritises the rights and wellbeing, by that I mean actual rights, of women and girls, and by women and girls I mean, those born female with XX chromosomes, etc, etc, et-fucking-cetera.

Bit ‘problematic’ fitting that on a tee shirt, WeRiseUp. 😁

WeRiseUp · 21/04/2019 16:04

Yes. Words i'd like back first:

Woman
Girl
Female
Mother
Sister
Daughter
Auntie
Lesbian
Feminist

Trousering · 21/04/2019 16:00

Dear Skyzalimit

If invalidating words is a failure of critical thinking can we have the word woman back please.

hipsterfun · 21/04/2019 15:55

‘Calling out’ this and that has become a favourite pastime of the sanctimonious.

7Days · 21/04/2019 15:52

'Do better', said by a smug kid.

OldCrone · 21/04/2019 15:40

I use 'problematic'. I've used it in letters to my MP in the context of it being problematic that schools are being given guidance telling them that they should ignore the Equality Act and forget about safeguarding. Not because I wanted to shut down thinking, but because I wanted them to think about what the problems might be.

It hadn't occurred to me that it was a woke word. The phrase I can't stand is 'educate yourself'.

LangCleg · 21/04/2019 15:39

I wish they'd all get out their thesauruses and find a synonym for vitriol. That word sets my teeth on edge these days.

Freespeecher · 21/04/2019 15:33

It's [insert current year here].

Problematic. Oh shit there is some evidence that disproves my woke view.

No one is suggesting banning any of the words on this thread. Just pointing out they tell us much about those who use them.

Intersectional unless it’s to do with highways
Exclusionary (especially when they mean exclusive)
Inclusive (especially when they mean inclusionary)
Erasure unless talking about rubbing out pencil/an 80s pop group

WeRiseUp · 21/04/2019 14:24

Do we women really want to go back to a time

Context is everything. We are now forced into a preamble or contextualisation to use any words eg - I am a feminist, by that I mean someone, not an antifeminist, who prioritises the rights and wellbeing, by that I mean actual rights, of women and girls, and by women and girls I mean, those born female with XX chromosomes, etc, etc, et-fucking-cetera.

Because of the antifeminist, white male supremacist infiltration of progressive movements and deliberate appropriation and bastardisation of all its terms, this is where we are.

It's long winded, but what other choice is there?

Literal violence = criticising, thinking otherly, presenting a reasoned contribution to a debate
