You know how this is going to be spun don't you: 'Females freak out at sight of penis' - because men just don't get it. They really really don't get it.
Yup. Already had that conversation. Got asked what was so disgusting about a naked male body that I didn't want to share my changing room with a male-bodied person. Zero, absolutely zero understanding of the issues around male violence against women and girls or the right to bodily privacy.
In my view, this is bound to get worse. Judging from my oldest DC's generation, they have neither expectation nor experience of privacy when it comes to their lives. Everything is shared online for all to see. Even when they - like my DC - share little of their own lives on social media, they still find their friends' exposure perfectly normal. With their innermost thoughts regularly bared to outside inspection, their very move documented for all and sundry, it is only a small step to have them accept the loss of bodily privacy.
They're already halfway there - as we can see in the trans rights debate, most support the loss of the legal right to bodily privacy. Unthinkingly is my guess, because these kids have a profoundly different understanding and expectation of privacy, happily proclaiming that privacy doesn't exist anyway whenever I raise this issue with them.
