Diane Abbott correct quote was “Her human rights as a transgender woman have been completely ignored”.

MockerstheFeManist · 11/04/2019 15:39

Diane Abbot on her feet now defending Assange and stating that Chelsea Manning's "Human Rights as a woman have been completely ignored."

Shant be voting Labour for the forseeable future.

SaskiaRembrandt · 11/04/2019 15:22

The Cat was re-homed following representations by Animal Welfare organisations to the Embassy, by the way

That's good to hear. Poor thing being cooped up with that sociopathic weirdo.

SaskiaRembrandt · 11/04/2019 15:18

I couldn't give a fuck about Cupboard Boy, but does anyone know if the cat is okay? Who is caring for it?

RosaWaiting · 11/04/2019 15:17

I knew about the arrest, but still clicked on "Uncle Albert" trending on Twitter Grin

KindOfAGeek · 11/04/2019 15:17

The US charge is computer conspiracy, the term is 5 years, not life. Under US law, the press is protected from accepting classified info, but not for helping a source break the law (ie, fool around with passwords).

I'm not sure why people think notoriety would rank maximum security. Notoriety and fame tends to protect prisoners. Ex., Manning was put under suicide watch out of spite, but was removed from it after lawyers intervened, using public pressure.

Mockers is correct. Extradition to the US is miles easier from the UK than from Sweden. That's how you know Assange's public defense was a lie --- like how he spun the rape charges as just women spurned.

They were likely CIA dupes? My ass.

MrsTerryPratchett · 11/04/2019 15:15

Maybe, but it's also highly likely.

It's also highly likely that a man accused of rape is a rapist. Let's not throw out the reality of rape conviction rates just because we dislike the American 'justice' system.

MockerstheFeManist · 11/04/2019 14:58

Barking Mad.

Sweden, a neutral country, not a member of NATO, self-sufficient in arms, a competitor to the US military-industrial complex with its arms exports, a byword for human rights and independent justice, is no supplicant of the USA.

The craven supplicant would be the UK, where the US need not present any evidence of a case to answer to secure an extradition. Unlike in Sweden.

Quite why the USA wanted JA sent to Sweden in order to extradite him defies logic and reality.

The defaming of JA's alleged victims by the leftie chorus of America-haters is ignorant irrational and vile.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 11/04/2019 14:53

The idea that the two Swedish victims are either dupes or agents of the USA is offensive.

Maybe, but it's also highly likely.

MockerstheFeManist · 11/04/2019 14:50

In respect of any possible extradition from the UK, the precedent of the Lauri Love case may be relevant.

theOtherPamAyres · 11/04/2019 14:49

theOtherPamAyres · 11/04/2019 14:47

The maximum term of imprisonment that the USA can impose for the offence (if he is ever extradited and if he gets to trial and if he is convicted) is FIVE years.

According to the BBC.

NicoAndTheNiners · 11/04/2019 14:37

I'm torn on this. I don't want to see him extradited to the USA for whistle blowing. But he should have faced charges over the rape.

And yes, I'm worried about the cat.

He does seem like a total odd ball. He must be pretty desperate to avoid extradition to have spent 7 years in a small room in the embassy....the last few years with no WiFi!

MrsBertBibby · 11/04/2019 14:32

I see Tatchell is hailing Assange as a hero.

Well what's a little rape between iconoclasts?

staydazzling · 11/04/2019 14:19

I always thought the sexual assault charges were very convenient timing, I. e wiki leaks, I read he'd been a nightmare inside the embassy so I bet they are so glad he is gone.

MockerstheFeManist · 11/04/2019 14:16

I'd be more than happy for him to serve his sentence for bail-jumping then be deported to Australia who can keep him.

He is responsible for many deaths in Afghanistan by dumping raw data into the public domain.

I also note the enthusiastic support he has received today from Russia. I'd also be happy for him to share a Moscow hotel room with that traitor Snowden.

JustAnotherWoman · 11/04/2019 14:07

Funnily enough I can't bring myself to worry about Assange Grin

lucasthecat · 11/04/2019 13:48

I accept he’s an entitled narcissist and probably much worse - but I don’t think he derves life in a US prison

deydododatdodontdeydo · 11/04/2019 13:42

Conspiracy.

Daffopill · 11/04/2019 13:35

He makes my skin crawl. They’ll be having a party in the Ecuadorean embasssy tonight.

MockerstheFeManist · 11/04/2019 13:28

The whole thing has been about an entitled narcissistic little prick.

andyoldlabour · 11/04/2019 13:24

This may help to clear the muddy waters. A timescale of what happened before any charges were made, and why the two women originally went to the police.

www.reuters.com/article/us-wikileaks-assange-charges/special-report-std-fears-sparked-case-against-wikileaks-boss-idUSTRE6B669H20101207

This whole thing has been about US attempts to get Assange extradited to the US, because Wikileaks released information concerning US war crimes and torture in Iraq and Afghanistan.

MockerstheFeManist · 11/04/2019 13:24

When he was told that Afghan interpreters had died after wikileaks revealed their identities, he smirked and said it was their fault for collaborating with the USA.

Handy Hint: If you do not wish to go to a high-security prison, it is best not to jump bail and prove you are a flight risk.

lucasthecat · 11/04/2019 13:20

I do not think Assange is a decent or straight forward individual - However his resistance to going to Sweden - was always his fear he would be xtradited to the US- if convicted in Sweden the sentence would have been much shorter than the 7 years he spent under house arrest in the embassy - No matter how much I dislike him - I don’t think he deserves life in a US super max prison - essentially 24 hour solitary comfinemnent - no sunlight etc - I still remember the videos and the audio of the civilians being shot that Chelsea Manning - leaked

FoldyRoll · 11/04/2019 13:19

Just been listening to him whining like a child on The World at One and loudly shouting OH FUCK OFF at the radio. What an entitled scuzz.
