How can he be so obtuse? I can only assume he has never spent time with children?

Sorry for quoting errors above.

The ONLY parts of the UK which voted "Remain" were - London, Scotland and Northern Ireland. In the South East there was a 76% turnout and in Kent, only Tunbridge Wells voted "Remain".*

?

My south east constituency voted remain. It’s the first time I felt I was in any accord with it.

Freespeecher · 08/04/2019 12:07

If Owen Jones and Bastani are both tweeting similar things it comes across as a concerted effort to Shut It Down.

Thing is, the Times have deep pockets, back their journos and will not be shut down.

Depressing he tries to smear it as Breitbart though - another chapter in the big book of 'Everything I don't like is racist / sexist / transphobic etc'.

(And let's not forget, Breitbart reported on Cologne much earlier than the Graun did. Ah, these inconvenient facts!

RepealTheGRA · 08/04/2019 12:04

He's just a Katie Price for people who shop at Waitrose

🔥 Grin

Owen Jones was just in Birmingham reporting on the LGBT teaching in schools issue, the section 28 comment may have worked in that scenario but to wheel it out any time anyone says anything he likes about LGBT issues is plain dumb. The fact that he releases a stock repoonse and won't even put any thought into this specific isssue shows how much he cares about these kids.

he has just tweeted rhis

"I dunno, but if I worked for The Times newspaper with its history of publishing ill-informed and indeed dishonest material which is harmful to already besieged minorities, I might go easy on suggesting others are badly informed"

and retweeting even more nonsense

nauticant · 08/04/2019 11:52

I think Kent is simply a reference to it being a Leave part of the country, for example Dover.

MagicMix · 08/04/2019 11:36

Out of hackmum's options, I mean.

MagicMix · 08/04/2019 11:36

I'd put money on b.

kendoddsdadsdogsdead18 · 08/04/2019 11:35

Who in their right mind would rather choose to endorse what is increasingly appearing as state approved child abuse and gay conversion & know better than whistleblowing expert? Those articles made me so sad. Not questioning your own stance is a terrible weakness. I saw Jonny best tweet that he questions his views daily, yes, so do I. I wish I could see it the other way, but it's so wrong what is happening. Even if I did agree with TRA's the attack on free speech bad enough.

Popchyk · 08/04/2019 11:35

He doesn't have a point.

He can't quote something from the article and say "I disagree with this point because of x, y and z. And here is my evidence". Nope.

And neither can any of the usual frothers.

Not one of them has stated that anything in the articles is inaccurate and why it is inaccurate; just that The Times should not be allowed to publish these articles.

I hope that ordinary people see the disturbing reaction to these articles from the trans lobby and wake the hell up. There should be alarm bells ringing nationwide.

hackmum · 08/04/2019 11:30

It's hard to tell whether a) he sincerely believes all this nonsense b) he doesn't really care but has leapt on the most fashionable bandwagon going in order to advance his career or c) he has some sinister motive for supporting giving harmful medication to children.

zanahoria · 08/04/2019 11:29

Its the hallmark of a true twitter moron to argue simply by analogy

BarkandCheese · 08/04/2019 11:27

I assume it's a reference to the "Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells" phenomenon - people who live in Kent are characterised as the epitome of white middle-class bigotry.

Except Tunbridge Wells was the only part of Kent to vote remain, so he hasn't even got that right.

Lumene · 08/04/2019 11:26

What is his actual point?

Other than ‘everyone who disagrees with me is a hateful bigot and should not express their views.’ Which isn’t hugely compelling.

MagicMix · 08/04/2019 11:25

I know revenge is a dish best served cold and I can’t wait to see his smug face when he is forced to take responsibility for what he was a big part of.

Absolutely. Of course mainly I want this madness stopped because I don't want any more children to be permanently damaged in the name of a misogynistic and homophobic ideology. But I'd also really really like to see OJ's nose rubbed in just how awful he has been. Petty, yes.

Popchyk · 08/04/2019 11:17

He's only going after The Times because The Times had the exclusive on the anti-Semitism hate files in Labour a few days ago. OJ doesn't want anyone knowing about those.

Supporting gay conversion therapy on children in order to bash the Times is the end justifying the means in the eyes of OJ.

DaffoDeffo · 08/04/2019 11:11

some of his posts make me seriously worry for his mental health

andyoldlabour · 08/04/2019 11:09

Quite a good analysis of Bastani here.
In 2013 on his twitter feed, Bastani alleged that the UK had provided Sodium Chloride to Assad - yes that well known weapon of mass destruction - table salt.

hackmum · 08/04/2019 10:55

Why's he picking on Kent commuters?

I assume it's a reference to the "Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells" phenomenon - people who live in Kent are characterised as the epitome of white middle-class bigotry.

Whatisthisfuckery · 08/04/2019 10:52

LOJ is awful. I went to a theatre performance several years ago featuring short plays about peoples’ coming out experiences. He was on a Q&A panel afterwards. Woke friends were super excited but I’d never heard of him. He ranted on for a full 10 minutes about how homophobia is rooted in misogyny, yet failed to mention lesbians’ experiences even once. On the way out I told my oh so woke friends that he just came across as a misogynist himself, and he didn’t give a shit about lesbians. I was roundly chastised of course. My first impressions Of him have not altered one iota.

DonaldTwain · 08/04/2019 10:49

He hopes they’ll stop giving all the awards to Janice T and give them to him instead.
And maybe when he can write as well as her, they will. I’m not holding my breath.
It must hurt him so much to see how much more credibility a middle aged woman has than him! Grin

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 08/04/2019 10:47

And I'm another one who cannot fucking wait to see him squirm when he realises who is actually on the wrong side of history.

DonaldTwain · 08/04/2019 10:47

Not Waitrose. Tesco at best.

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 08/04/2019 10:45

He is basically saying that experimenting on children must not be questioned or come under any sort of critical analysis at all.

Wowzers.
