And I’m feeling quite pleased with myself. DS, also 18, is well aware of my radical opinions and even agrees in private but would not express any GC views out of the home so he spent the entire conversation pretending it wasn’t happening.
Peaking her was relatively easy as she is a smart girl who understands science. I was shocked as she used every daft statistic I have read on here - but the suicide and murder rate? But can’t we just be kind and let them be? - the clincher though was when she pointed me towards the “scientific” evidence that male and female brains are different Grin. Easy peasy after that.
I like her more and more.

But can’t we just be kind and let them be?

Unfortunately - although the live and let live philosophy was one I subscribed to for a very long time (BPT: Before Peak Trans) - it seems we cannot do that and still have women's rights and children's safeguarding left unaffected.

There is plenty of info on this forum explaining why this is the case, why self ID is a terrible idea, and why women's & girl's privacy, dignity, safety matters, and why the biological sex category "woman" exists and is protected in law.

"What is worrying is that she was given that article in school with no recently published stuff to refute it."

Selection bias - they cherry pick articles that seem to confirm their biases. Very strong with this lot, hence why so many are under the delusion that "science validates transgender people".

Id never heard of the expression wither and I'm an absolute shrinking violet around these parts...

BillyBadBreaks · 05/04/2019 14:13

DpWm Ha ha ha sorry, just a miss understanding then! I don't have any evil intent.

Diddleysquat Not so much disagree, I'm just more of the opinion But can’t we just be kind and let them be? Just because science can't prove something exists doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I'm interested in truth but also happy to accept people's experiences. Probably because non-binary is the best fit for how I feel.

BillyBad
Unfortunately we have frequent visitors to this forum who deliberately goad forum users, then post screenshots to Twitter (or wherever) of posts, twist it's meaning, misinterpret the post, complain about the user to MNHQ, and it's all done without the actual user being present to represent themselves.

So people here are understandably cautious of engaging with people who, now please don't take offense, seem willfully ignorant of certain terms and obvious typos.

But please, welcome. Do engage.

Diddleysquat · 05/04/2019 13:43

What exactly is it that you think we disagree on?

OP posts:
BillyBadBreaks · 05/04/2019 11:24

Diddleysquat, not a term I've heard of before (would likely have guessed the ton bit if I had). I can imagine then that from the other less helpful replies I got: "one of those" is someone who doesn't agree with you and someone might want a screenshot to post elsewhere and complain about.

Thanks for actually answering my question even though we disagree!

Diddleysquat · 05/04/2019 07:06

Ton = to
Peak trans = expose some of the massive flaws in trans rights ideology that is being circulated as fact by the media and schools.
It would be much nicer if it was a mountain in the Peak District.

I don’t really see why anyone would need screenshots of my thread. But if they do I have some wonderfully seditious things to say about society’s rigid norms regarding spelling and grammar.

Yes, MrGHardy, those (and others) were the links I used. She was using an article written in the 80’s to back up her argument. What is worrying is that she was given that article in school with no recently published stuff to refute it.

Fallingirl, that is a great idea Grin can we call it “I think you’ll find a woman did that first” a game to spot all the times that men take historical credit for the things women achieve.

Diddley when you first said you’d been playing ‘A history...” , for a brief moment I thought there was an app or computer game based on it Grin

That would be awesome and ought to happen next. Any game delopers among mumsnetters?

Beamur · 04/04/2019 21:07

I think the WI have been welcoming transwomen for a while now Shenanigans

Shenanagins · 04/04/2019 20:53

I managed to peak trans, if you can call it that my Mum who after explaining what trans is in the first place I went on to explain all of the various issues. She only really got it when she suddenly exclaimed, “does this mean that they would be able to come to who WI!”

This was a step too far for her!

nauticant · 04/04/2019 20:45

No, those are the Grey Rocks.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 04/04/2019 20:31

I thought it was a mountain range in Wales.

VickyEadie · 04/04/2019 20:27

'ton' is the masculine singular accusative pronoun in Greek. Hope that helps.

BillyBadBreaks · 04/04/2019 20:21

Me? Sorry, I've no idea what "one of those" is supposed to be. I saw someone on another thread being accused of "looking for screenshots" and this is the second time I've ever seen that phrase so I've no idea what that means either.

I tried searching for "ton peak trans" and just got a load of folk being mean to each other, guess that was all the answer I needed judging by your response TheGrey1houndSpeaks Sad

TheGrey1houndSpeaks · 04/04/2019 18:44

If you have to ask (looking for screenshots), just bugger off.

nauticant · 04/04/2019 18:38

Oh. You're one of those.

BillyBadBreaks · 04/04/2019 18:25

What exactly is "ton peak trans" when it's at home?

Diddleysquat · 03/04/2019 13:40

Boaudica as a demonstration that befor the Romans came women had equal right to property, inheritance and where frequently seen in battle fighting next to men.

Freespeecher · 03/04/2019 12:08

Out of interest, who did they start with in the 'History of Britain through 21 women' book? Boadicea, Cartimandua or someone else?

ToeToToe · 03/04/2019 11:23

That's good OP.

Each person you peak is a person to say 'the emperor has no clothes on (and what's more, I think he might be enjoying it)' Wink

I've peaked my mother, my DH, my 3 sisters, one neighbour and one friend. My dc are naturally gender critical - having been brought up by their fiercely feminist mother Grin and I watch the school LGBT education stuff like a hawk - but I am v careful who I speak to about it. As a pp says, it can get v nasty.

NeighbourhoodAttackKitten · 03/04/2019 11:06

wow that is just something special right there a good old pat on the back is in order

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 03/04/2019 09:31

I meant is every 3rd ‘woman’ an... errr - man?
