If Glinner is such an 'ally' why is he working only with white men?

I'm a GC feminist, but I do find all the fawning around Graham Linehan to be pathetic. He's barely given a peep about women's rights in the past, and suddenly he's jumped on the anti-TRA bandwagon, centering himself in what is and should a women-led movement (i.e. feminism).
The last straw for me is seeing fellow feminists fawn over this tweet - he posits himself as an ally, yet shows 0 interest in opening up the world of comedy beyond the thoughts of white men.

A heterosexual man being critical of transgenderism =! feminism

Pliny, it might well be the way you have expressed yourself.

I don't think many women are unaware that men are listened to about this issue more than us. It's galling to have to use men. But when they do as much as Glinner has, I have no hesitation in being grateful for it. Because it's affected him in a very negative way, quite significantly. And it has certainly advanced our cause.

I think most of us are a little more circumspect when it comes to other men, who don't go as far as he has. For instance, they have been quite vociferous over male athletes who aren't doing enough. When they barely dip their toe in the water, it's noticed.

People aren't supporting Glinner because he's a man, they're supporting him because what he does works, and he is suffering for it.

So you ‘genuinely didn’t mean to attack anyone’ but the above quote is what you led with.

When people apologise using ‘if’ that’s what I did etc it doesn’t really seem genuine.

The words fawning and pathetic were used in your very first sentence.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 29/03/2019 15:38

You're telling us off for something you want him to do.

He is our leader, the dead centre of the movement and so on.

Plinytheprettier · 29/03/2019 15:37

Datun I wasn't telling you to do anything?? I genuinely didn't mean to attack anyone. I'm truly sorry if that's what I was doing - I was expressing my opinion from a feminist perspective which I believe what this board is for?

I would love to see him doing more campaigns on feminist issues in a way that challenges his own privilege.

Tell him to do that then!

How do you want us to interact with him, given it's us you are criticising???

You're telling us off for something you want him to do.

I'm not sure logic is your strong point.

Plinytheprettier · 29/03/2019 15:35

How on earth can I 'stop' you from doing anything?

OP posts:
CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 29/03/2019 15:35

Did it work?

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 29/03/2019 15:34

Okay so taking what you said earlier, (That transideology doesn't effect men) the court case doesn't count because?

Because he was in a group photo with other white men and that makes him very very bad.

I really think the purpose of this was to stop us talking on the other thread supporting Graham on the court case.

Plinytheprettier · 29/03/2019 15:32

Well fidget I didn't see or report it. You can call me a troll if you like, I have sincerely posted gender critical opinions under different names in the past which I assume MN has access too?

My posts saying this post was trolling has been deleted. Come on Mumsnet you're almost as bas as Twitter.

KatvonfeelzlikeaMAN · 29/03/2019 15:27

Jeez, you're a bit obsessed with the man. What's he done to you?

KatvonfeelzlikeaMAN · 29/03/2019 15:26

This isn't sexist.
Look the flouncy kitty is in BLUE PLANE and therefore is CLEARLY MALE

If Glinner is such an 'ally' why is he working only with white men?

How do we 'centre someone less'

The first step is to make a thread about them.

Datun · 29/03/2019 15:24

No Datun I am critical of patriarchy and that does include all men. 'Like' doesn't come into it

So I ask again in that case. What would you want us to do? Do you want us to ignore Glinner on the basis of the fact he's a man?

How do we 'centre someone less'?

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 29/03/2019 15:23

ClosdesMouches I could do with a coffee too, although it’s quite late for me to have one, today I need it. If only I had a ginger biscuit, got a craving

ClosdesMouches · 29/03/2019 15:21

Jessica we've gone all retro and are enjoying Jacob's Club biscuits, orange flavour, this afternoon. Coffee though, no tea.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 29/03/2019 15:21

less gendered than 'flounce'

What are you talking about?

Flounce is from old norse, it's from a viking word, flunsa meaning to rush.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 29/03/2019 15:21

Here’s what you said:

You did not specify the ‘fawning’ comment was about anyone calling him a hero. Look at your opening sentence.

Plinytheprettier · 29/03/2019 15:21

No Datun I am critical of patriarchy and that does include all men. 'Like' doesn't come into it

OP posts:
Plinytheprettier · 29/03/2019 15:19

I didn't say 'anyone who supports him'. I did but I'm obviously not going to name them. People calling him a 'hero' etc was what bothered me and it consider that to be 'lauding' yes. Hardly sexist and certainly less gendered than 'flounce' Confused

OP posts:
JessicaWakefieldSVH · 29/03/2019 15:19

Who’s for tea and biscuits? It’s about that time

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 29/03/2019 15:19

No Kirk you can't be sexist against men FFS!

But You have been sexist against women, you have based on a photo accused women of fawning at him.

Datun · 29/03/2019 15:18

I don't think Pliny knows what they want. They just don't like men, any man. Even ones who are helping.
