You were excellent Caroline.

In regards to the original tweets, I don't think you were nasty at all. You stated several facts. Nothing harmful there.

In fact, I was very surprised when I learned this happened to you as I think you're always polite, respectful, and fair.

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 25/03/2019 23:10

That was an awful interview. Reid seemed more interested in proving her own purity and decency than letting Caroline talk and subsequently came across as a finger wagging headmistress on a "you've let the school down, you've let yourself down..." lecture.

She could have asked questions in an impartial fashion rather than telling Caroline her view was that she'd been very naughty.

Mind you, that's how the pair of them seem to conduct things. It's hardly illuminating if GMB is just basically What Piers and Susannah's Very Important Opinions are this morning. Esp as neither are that bright.

Amoregentlemanlikemanner · 25/03/2019 15:31

thank you Caroline.

Your accusations are very strong but they are specific and entirely factual. If you are wrong, SG can bring a case for defamation.

It must have been hard to stand your ground, well done.

Melroses · 25/03/2019 14:23

I suppose 'orchidectomy' is maybe a naicer medical term, but it needs explaining that it is not a horticultural term...………Hmm

Sunkisses · 25/03/2019 14:12

What a horrible and very poor interview by Susanne and Piers. Poor Caroline. How on earth are the public going to find out what is happening when journalists will not allow people to use the correct terms? Castration is 100% the correct term to use in this instance. Piers and Susanne should stop sugar coating this, and should face the hard, cold brutal truth: that trans surgery on male children means castration (whether chemical castration or surgical castration). This needs to be faced, not denied. This is cognitive dissonance in action

Melroses · 25/03/2019 14:01

If you are using a personal account of what you have done to your own personal child, which was 'groundbreaking' ie against the law in this country and against medical advice in this country, then any criticism of the action is going to be personal in some way.

What counts as 'personal' seems to be way different when applied to Green's campaigning, than when it is applied to the rest of the world's answer to it.

GabrielleNelson · 25/03/2019 13:49

Susannah's sanctimonious 'But it's very personal, isn't it?' in that fingerwagging, more-in-sorrow-in-anger-but-you-really-have-let-yourself-down-here-Caroline tone!

Of course it's personal, because it references one case, but as Caroline attempted to say in the face of constant interruption there's also a legitimate public interest because SG has a job as CEO of a charity that's in receipt of large amounts of funding from the government, local government and the Lottery, and that charity is lobbying for the NHS to use the charity's preferred medical approach, not the one the clinicians believe is best on their own judgement.

And on the back of training delivered by said charity and others in the same area, the police, education authorities, schools, social service departments, government departments, the CPS, universities, other charities and even private companies are all changing policies, often misrepresenting and misapplying the Equalities Act along the way, and all of this is removing protection for women and girls and for children and other vulnerable groups - with no strong scientific evidence base to justify it.

It's an absolute scandal and all Susannah Reid can do is sigh about using words that she thinks are a little bit strong and might cause hurt feelings. Amazing.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 25/03/2019 13:48

Susannah's body language is vile. She makes a pushing gesture at Caroline with her palm, she is pushing her away as she puts her down.

Not the actions of an impartial journalist.

Child Protection 101:

The welfare of children always, always comes before the feelings of adults

littlbrowndog · 25/03/2019 13:37

Great job on Julia’s show caro

💪💪🍷🍺

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 25/03/2019 13:28

Oh Piers you hypocritical piece of shit.

And I really hope that Susannah looks back on this interview one day and feels absolutely ashamed that she prioritised someone's hurty feelings over children being castrated and sterilised.

GabrielleNelson · 25/03/2019 13:27

Thanks for that, Melroses! Susannah Reid was so patronising. Piers Morgan no better. They shrink from plain language but that's the whole point. If you describe in plain terms what is done to these children it doesn't bear thinking about.

Melroses · 25/03/2019 13:19

So, what word would Piers use in place of castration, that will convey the reality of what is happening (no euphemisms)?

Melroses · 25/03/2019 13:13
Thingybob · 25/03/2019 13:06

Thankyou Gabrielle I missed that this morning. Well done again Caroline for speaking up

GabrielleNelson · 25/03/2019 12:44

Haven't seen the GMB interview yet but here's the TalkRadio interview later this morning with Julia Hartley-Brewer. Starts at 09:17:30 ish. talkradio.co.uk/radio/listen-again/1553495400#

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 25/03/2019 12:03

Piers Morgan is just a shit stirrer with no actual principles, and I'm sure that opportunity to get to have a go at a woman on a Monday morning was just too tempting to pass up.

zanahoria · 25/03/2019 11:59

Johhny Rotten says he wants to make a film where he kills 200 people, first name is Mick Jagger, next up is Jimmy Savile. He says Savile is into all kinds of seediness and then says it isn't libel.

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 25/03/2019 11:48

so it was suppressed? I would like to know who made that bloody decision.

RedToothBrush · 25/03/2019 11:47

He still would not have got that far, had he been anyone else. No one else would have dared say it on camera.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 25/03/2019 11:45

John Lydon was 'allowed' to say the truth about Saville

That part of his interview wasn’t aired back in 1978, it’s only recently been played.

RedToothBrush · 25/03/2019 11:44

John Lydon was 'allowed' to say the truth about Saville because he was outside the establishment and therefore could be dismissed for saying it, without the need for suing his arse off. Lydon also knew this. It was both part of his power and also his curse. He was not subject to the same social expectations as others. He had a freedom to speak because he wasn't going to lose his job. If anything it would serve to help his image.

ToeToToe · 25/03/2019 11:36

I'd also like to ask Piers and Susannah why, in 2019, women are still being told to "be nice" and use "nice words" so as to be careful not offend public figures?

If only Caroline had been nicer - Susie G wouldn't have called the police? Susie G just doesn't want anyone to be able to criticise what she did, and what she advocates for young people who are gender non-conforming or confused.

JackyHolyoake · 25/03/2019 11:30

I would like Susanna Reid to provide alternative words to castrate, mutilate and abuse please.

What other word can be used for castrate when explaining about the removal of the testes?

What other word can be used for mutilate when explaining about surgery that is about the removal of healthy body parts?

What other word can be used for abuse when explaining about adults advocating and lobbying for and actively encouraging children to be subjected to such surgical treatments and an entire life thereafter spent taking synthetic hormone medication?

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 25/03/2019 11:20

But Piers just laughed at Sam Smith declaring he was non-binary? Which obviously means he’s a bigot and a transphobe. But India thinks he’s not now because he was an arse to a catholic woman. I wonder if he would behave that way towards a muslim women saying exactly the same things???
