Is it just me, or have Mermaids been releasing rather a lot of statements recently Hmm

It's good that a journalist is looking into this though.

The feedback quotes aren't convincing.

It helps if you give some clues to who is speaking

"It was OK" (headteacher, primary school, Liverpool)
" It will definitely change my outlook" (councillor, Leeds)
"More people need this input" (trans police officer, Merseyside)

With every attempt to engage with criticism, Mermaids continues to reveals itself as an amateurish outfit that is clueless.

I suppose the difference is that when women and girls are attacked people usually point the finger at them for being in the wrong place etc which hopefully happens less with other groups.

We are ignored either way. When women report sex crimes their location, clothing, behaviour and past is scrutinised. When women try to mitigate risk of sex crimes happening, by say, requesting single sex toilets, they are told to make sure that males found within those spaces don't feel awkward.

MeAgainAgain · 23/03/2019 12:20

Of course women and girls are not covered under hate legislation due to their sex,

We all know why (cost and prevalence and much of the public seeing harassment of women and girls as "banter" etc)

So I suppose that is why the poster is that way.

Reminds me of that time someone asked women to donate to a cab fund for a transwoman saying "try to imagine not feeling safe walking home at night" I mean just fuck off.

MeAgainAgain · 23/03/2019 12:12

For fuck's sake

We all have the right to travel safely but the list doesn't include women and girls (sex).

Who are subject to vast amounts of shite all over the country every day while trying to "travel safely" like to school etc.

It's so in your face isn't it.

Thingybob · 23/03/2019 12:10

Just found ACs tweet

twitter.com/AimeeChallenor/status/1097528961398177792

Thingybob · 23/03/2019 12:06

That's from the West Midlands PCC. The force that covers The Challenors' stomping ground

Talking of which West Midlands have not yet acted (to my knowledge) on the hate crime report AC made a few weeks back. The reported crime was the content of a tweet(s) made by Lord Moonie so should be interesting.

RedDogsBeg · 23/03/2019 11:56

HandsOffMyRights quite.

Where are all the pledges raising awareness and zero tolerance to racism or misogyny for example?

HandsOffMyRights · 23/03/2019 11:54

Super

Yes, a grown man (well, presume ze identifies as that)!

I'm now singing that, along with 'The Spice Gxrls' Wannabe'

'You got G like MC '

Iggypoppie · 23/03/2019 11:50

Imagine the carnage if they get their claws into any more police forces? shudders

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 23/03/2019 11:34

When a grown man says 'I'm a G' I can't help but be reminded of the lyrics to 'this is how we do it' -
'You see the hood's been good to me
Ever since I was a lower-case G
But now I'm a big G'

HandsOffMyRights · 23/03/2019 11:04

I'd like to see a Police statement, although this tweet from a senior official gives us a snapshot of their priorities (not to mention the countless threads on here regarding both WYP and Liverpool Police)

HerFemaleness · 23/03/2019 10:55

The quotes all seem to be from emails. Do Mermaids not use anonymous feedback forms?

RedDogsBeg · 23/03/2019 10:43

We are happy to confirm that we have delivered into Merseyside and West Yorkshire Police Forces,

What kind of English language is this?

I don't know why I am surprised that this organisation doesn't understand words.

That statement does come across as an attempt to limit damage but I think (hope) it will raise far more questions as to why this organisation is being allowed free and unfettered access into the Police to peddle propaganda.

No surprise at the Police Forces who were 'delivered into' is it?

BeUpStanding · 23/03/2019 10:36

Wow!! It takes a special kind of tonedeaf arrogance use the current PR shitshow as a marketing opportunity Shock. A press release offering to deliver training to even MORE police forces!!

RedToothBrush · 23/03/2019 10:25

Unilaterally positive.

Or just loads of people too gutless to ask the obvious questions for fear of offending.

whatever the fuck mermaids are talking about

I’m not sure even Susi Green herself could answer that one these days. Confused

TimeLady · 23/03/2019 09:50

Seven City of London police officers acting as 'security' heavies for Susie Green and her mates couldn't have occurred at a more inconvenient time for Mermaids. Perfect story for the Sunday press

PurpleCrowbar · 23/03/2019 09:43

RepealtheGRA ah, sorry! Perhaps you can have transunilateral & cisunilateral depending on which one side of 'whatever the fuck mermaids are talking about' you support? Wink

RepealTheGRA · 23/03/2019 09:38

PurpleCrowbar

You sound surprised at the discovery that mermaids make up their own meanings of words? Confused

Sexnotgender · 23/03/2019 09:38

Is that their attempt at a charm offensive Grin

Poorly written and lacking substance.

PurpleCrowbar · 23/03/2019 09:36

I'm assuming they meant to say 'unanimously' positive.

Given that 'unilateral' actually means one sided Grin.

TheLoupGarouCrew · 23/03/2019 09:31

and their trying to use publicly funded police forces as their own private security forces....

...that Mermaids trained themselves. How the fuck was that steaming pile of conflict of interests allowed to come about?
