misscockerspaniel I’m on my mobile, tried but it’s not letting me click on the post or see comments! Never mind

DodoPatrol · 20/03/2019 13:09

I do worry that this sort of thing the Facebook reaction of 'that's a man/ shoulda sued the surgeon/ clearly a dude/ Adam's apple is a giveaway' is fuel for the activists calling for earlier medication of children for better aesthetic outcome.

zanahoria · 20/03/2019 13:08

I read the facebook comments, I had just wondered whether they were being read out but didn't want to watch the programme.

Its amusing that Phil said he would read some but then back tracked

hackmum · 20/03/2019 13:07

It's outrageous. Yesterday my male next door neighbour came round to pick up a parcel the postman had left. He was wearing bright pink mules and pink socks - not his usual look. Am I to take it he is now identifying as female?*

  • Actually, I think they were his girlfriend's. I didn't ask.
MrsFogi · 20/03/2019 13:05

This will only peak trans people if they are aware it is part of a wider issue. If anyone is able to do so in the rl name it would be good to post a link to the Fair Play for Women website on this thread on FB (and point out that people have been hauled in by the police for questioning under caution for misgendering).

misscockerspaniel · 20/03/2019 12:53

I am not on Facebook but I can still read the comments. Click on the link on the first page of this thread (4th post, blue link) and then when you get onto the facebook page, click on comments.

zanahoria · 20/03/2019 12:53

thanks to everyone who watched that dross for comments so I didn't have to

Nope no comments. I can’t think why Hmm
Blush pink ffs.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 20/03/2019 12:49

For those of us without a Facebook account, anyone able to screen shot a sample of comments?

Doyoumind · 20/03/2019 12:43

I don't understand how somebody who had never had any 'gender' problems into middle age and then went to a fancy dress party as a woman and liked it can now expect to be considered as a woman like any other woman.

CaptainMarvelBunting · 20/03/2019 12:40

No comments read. I think they'd have had to go deep mining to find any positive ones.

Of course, the fact that everyone can clearly read 'male' will be presented as evidence that society is transphobic and trans people are terribly oppressed. These things are always spun to advantage.

AstonishedFemalePersonator · 20/03/2019 12:36

My favourite MN-acceptable comment was "It’s Southern Rail. Just be thankful you managed to get on a train AT ALL!!!!"

Whatisthisfuckery · 20/03/2019 12:29

I’ve just read the comments and facebook. If validation is what Katie was after then I’m afraid Katie won’t like what Katie sees.

And correctly identifying someone’s sex does not breach the Equality Act, GRC or not.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 20/03/2019 12:28

The men and women in the street have never been on board with this. They may have been ignorant of it, but FB and twitter comments outside of a TRA bubble have always been overwhelmingly GC.

RockyFlintstone · 20/03/2019 12:26

They didn't read out any comments then?

MsTiggywinkletoyou · 20/03/2019 12:23

Onegrannythousandsquares I hadn't thought about the impact of all this side-eyeing on tall women. I wonder if this is something discussed at the Tall Person's Club? Or wherever else the medical and social issues of being tall are discussed.

Destinysdaughter · 20/03/2019 12:12

Twitter comments about this are overwhelmingly NOT sympathetic to this issue.

RockyFlintstone · 20/03/2019 12:10

It's so offensive that Katie was incredulous that they would still be called Sir, even though they were wearing pink. And not just any pink. Blush pink.

It really does show what a lot of this is about.

zanahoria · 20/03/2019 12:06

they have a few to choose from on facebook!

Onethousandgrannysquares · 20/03/2019 12:05

Name changed for this but am regular. I am becoming sick and tired of this whole pile of nonsense. I’m 6’ 2” tall. I am a woman. I have short hair. I am not slender. I have been called ‘sir’ on numerous occasions throughout my adult life. I laugh it off, generally receive a quick ‘Oh, sorry’ and move on.

I have, until now, always loved being tall. Now I am becoming increasingly aware of getting the side eye from people, quite obviously wondering if I am a trans woman.

I am trying to articulate why this whole thing Is making me so unutterably miserable at the moment - I have never, until the last 12 months or so felt so self conscious of my size. I’m starting to think I need to swap the jeans, rugby shirt and trainers for a pink pinafore and heels.

RockyFlintstone · 20/03/2019 11:53

No comments read out so far.

NoseringGirl · 20/03/2019 11:50

I've had it on in the background and no comments read out yet that I've noticed.
They've got the Mothers who made porn on now.

joggerbottom · 20/03/2019 11:46

Interesting how TM used this story to tackle Farrow's story. There is no way that ITV would have been able to interview CF fairly if she was on the sofa.

zanahoria · 20/03/2019 11:46

Phil said he would read comments later on.

Did anyone keep watching and hear them?
