I was annoyed because the Emily Howard character demonstrated that Lucas isn't naive to the dynamics that are driving this bullshit. He understands AGPs.

But I read this interview and i think I get it now. I get the impression he's come under a lot of pressure from other gay guys to recant his heresies and he doesn't want fuss and controversy any more. Seems like he's blunted his brain and his critical thinking skills to fit in.

I find it utterly hypocritical. Matt Lucas in this Little Britain sketch was clearly showing how transwomen fetishize womanhood with their dropping handkerchiefs and exaggeratedly feminine clothes etc, whilst maintaining a very masculine body and socialisation. Lucas saw the humour in it because it reflected an exaggerated version of reality. It's clear that in the current climate he's worried his career will suffer because of this, and so is doing damage limitation 'oh I don't really know much about this, but sign me up'. I'm sure he'd know if he was sleeping with a man with a vag, it's so fucking fake and McCarthyite. I've always been fond of Matt Lucas, now I just think he's a misogynist with no backbone.

I have seen that letter before but I am still fucking AGOG at it every time I read it and cannot see how he hasn't been absolutely crucified for it.
