Tammy I have endo and adenomyosis too, also prescribed opiates. They are so welcome to my pain, the novelty has worn off for me.

In the meantime I think I can hear the world's smallest violin playing for them.

PRoseLegend · 13/03/2019 22:29

@lemoncakestrudel
It's those muscles you pull up into your body when you're stopping peeing mid-stream.
It helps if you do them a lot, apparently. Anyway if I catch the sneeze or cough in time I can ususlly prevent wetting myself but if I forget or the sneezing comes on too quickly I'm usually wearing a light pad to catch any leakage.

InfiniteCurve · 13/03/2019 22:28

I don't have periods anymore,a plus of treatment for breast cancer.I asked DD whether she'd describe her periods as uncomfortable, cramps and icky .She said no - she'd describe them as a week long torture session......

Lemoncakestrudel · 13/03/2019 22:16

legend what’s a kegel? I would love to stop having to run to the loo for a sneeze.

FeministCat · 13/03/2019 21:49

Sure.

I can offer them a satisfying "period experience" that I had most of my life of a full week of bleeding, with 2-3 days requiring a change of san pro every 2 hours. Pro-tip for their benefit that took me way too many years to figure out: tampons don't do such a good job absorbing clots, meaning leakage long before they are "full", so they may want to go straight to pads or cups. They should stock up on the iron pills, since I spent about two decades dealing with anemia.

Since they have not had periods before, I am happy to warn them that the same hormones that cause the uterus to cramp, also cause your intestines to cramp up, and in my experience that meant that for at least the first two or three days, they may not want to venture too far away from any type of toilet facilities.

In return, they can give me back the many thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars I have spent over 27+ years and counting on tampons, pads, menstrual cups, new underwear, birth control, pregnancy tests bought in a panic at the drug store when my period was late, new sheets, and pain killers. Oh, and that cream couch cushion belonging to a date....

Since to have periods I assume they also want my reproductive organs to make it happen, I will also throw in some bonus experiences for them for FREE, like the cryosurgery, LEEP, and cervical biopsy, two or three painful IUD insertions and removals, some cervical ectropion, a tubal ligation, and that fun year where I would not stop bleeding and spotting for most of it due to a bad reaction to birth control ("fortunately" my sex drive also sank that year as well).

Ereshkigal · 13/03/2019 21:15

If they want pain that makes them masochists. Do we have to now have masochists as a special protected category,

If they were masochists they'd surely accept being told "no".

VickyEadie · 13/03/2019 21:07

They're more than welcome to my periods. I'm on prescription pain killers for them and still have several episodes a year when I'm in so much pain that I literally can't do anything bar lying on the floor in the fetal position and crying like a baby.

Yes, mine were like that and lasted 11 days in every 23. Menopause (which brings its own issues, of course) was a blessing by comparison.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/03/2019 20:58

There’s an expression in Scotland ‘s/he can’t see green cheese’ ie this person wants whatever the other one has, no matter how disgusting or unpleasant.

They can’t see green cheese.

DangermousesSidekick · 13/03/2019 20:41

Who can take these people seriously.

If they want pain that makes them masochists. Do we have to now have masochists as a special protected category, who are even more vulnerable and stunning and brave than transpeople, and need women to clear off a bit more for, well, reasons?

Women need to talk about the real problems induced by their real biology rather more than people like this need to be jealous about it, because otherwise we can die. Childbirth kills women: period problems can cause lifelong pain. Why do we have to fight men so hard all the time just to have a bit of space to talk?

Katelyn Burns' next article. Why Boko Haram Are Transphobic: I would have given Anything To...

barelove · 13/03/2019 20:27

toomanypillows my eyes are crying right now Flowers

FemalePersonator · 13/03/2019 20:20

They would be welcome to my cervical cancer, too, since they're all that keen.

FemalePersonator · 13/03/2019 20:19

TW menstrual pain would be more womanly than women's menstrual pain, of course.

endofthelinefinally · 13/03/2019 19:03

Agonising periods, ovulation pain, chronic anaemia due to heavy bleeding, hyperemesis gravidarum, perineal damage needing 4 lots of stitches, prolapse.
It is all so wonderful. Please, have the lot. Be my guest.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/03/2019 19:00

I have just received a change.org link to a free sanpro for all schoolchildren. I read it through and the words ‘women’ and ‘girls’ doesnt appear. Just ‘all children’. If you didn’t know what sanpro was you night assume they are wanting to bring back achool milk.

Come in Amika you can do better than that:
^Today, in the Spring Statement, for the first time ever, the government pledged an end to period poverty in schools by committing to provide free menstrual products for all children in secondary schools and colleges.
270,000 of you signed the #FreePeriods petition since we launched almost two years ago, and every single one of you has made this outcome possible.

You have written to your MPs, lobbied Parliament, shouted for action at the #FreePeriods protest, and have not stopped calling for change.

We have all done this together, and this is proof that activism can yield results. We need to make sure this is implemented in a sustainable, long-term way, with ring-fenced funding and this must be enshrined in legislation. The pledge does not cover primary schools as far as we know, but we need every single child to be able to access menstrual products while in compulsory education.

There can be no good reason to exclude children at primary school, who may begin menstruating from a young age. We will keep calling for this and holding the government to account.

Thank you to every one of you who has been part of the #FreePeriods movement to end period poverty in schools!^

Does pretend menopause happen too?

Courday · 13/03/2019 18:47

Dealing with periods and their effects (pain and seemingly uncontrollable bleeding) were the main reason I gave up sports as a teenager.
I was never going to be an international but possibly could have played at county level and could have played into adulthood.
I am not seeing many transwomen athletes acknowledging this whilst they are bulldozing their way into competing against female athletes.

WeRiseUp · 13/03/2019 18:36

Perverts

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/03/2019 18:32

Well a man saying they are on their period would definitely experience ostracisation alright. Possible not how a woman would but nonetheless...

Didn’t Adrian Mole try to get out of PE by telling the teacher that it was his ‘time of the month’? I remember when this would have made me laugh...

bsc · 13/03/2019 18:24

I wonder how many trans women there are in places such as Nepal where women are ostracised and isolated during menstruation?
Do you think they're desperate to experience menstruation?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/03/2019 18:19

I do get a bit ‘windy’ at that time of the month. Any takers?

weebarra · 13/03/2019 18:18

Yup. They could have had my ovaries but unfortunately I had them removed after the breast cancer and the BRCA +ve diagnosis.

HumberElla · 13/03/2019 18:15

Fetish Fetish Fetish

Clear as.

Persifleur · 13/03/2019 18:15

Garth
Aint that the truth!

10IAR · 13/03/2019 18:14

KennDodd that would be an awesome idea, except they hate women.
