C'mon Linford Grin

Linford Christie's reaction
OP posts:
Lweji · 11/03/2019 16:25

Lweji just looks more feminine, underneath the male misogny prevails

I agree.

I was pointing out that it would lead to an interesting circular argument, that if transgender people really felt like the opposite sex, then they'd realise they don't feel like the opposite sex. Whole theses could be written about it.

Aeroflotgirl · 11/03/2019 16:18

Lweji just looks more feminine, underneath the male misogny prevails, not good enough for the men's cycling, so decides to win at the women's. OOOOH I bet that I will get deleted for that.

StealthPolarBear · 11/03/2019 16:17

OunceOfFlounce quite a few hinted at stuff. None of them (apart from one who I am grateful to) wpuld explain.

Lweji · 11/03/2019 16:15

If he felt like a woman than he would understand why women are so angry

Ooooh. People could write PhDs on this alone. Grin

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 11/03/2019 16:13

Fucking hell thats garbled

Even for me!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 11/03/2019 16:13

Apologies for snarky out of character post, this thread has pissed me off no end but there's no need for it

I think there is a need for it

Its just a shame that there is a need for it...and you're the one having to do it...if you see what i mean

Lweji · 11/03/2019 16:13

I think the first reply does need a bit more of an explanation as to why he's a fucking idiot.

Aeroflotgirl · 11/03/2019 16:10

So it is the same as saying, that a white woman who identifies as a black woman, spray tans her skin, is a true black woman. How offensive and untrue is that, basically that is what RM is saying, totally ignoring the fact that they are biologically male with a male body and structure, they will always be male however much they feel like a woman. If he felt like a woman than he would understand why women are so angry, but he is banding about his misogny to silence women.

OunceOfFlounce · 11/03/2019 16:09

Wasn't it just one single poster who misinterpreted his wtf? And the whole rest of the thread is people saying I don't know how anyone could be confused about what Christie means.

Then a second poster making that unfortunate innuendo?

Maybe I missed something when I was on this thread earlier, I'll go back and look.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 11/03/2019 16:08

I don't know how people are getting confused over what Lindford Christie has said, it is quite obvious he is totally shocked at RM stupid and ludricous comments.

Me neither.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 11/03/2019 16:08

Sarahjconnor

You’ve nothing to apologise for. This thread is something else.

Lweji · 11/03/2019 16:06

Snark away Sarahjconnor. Grin

StealthPolarBear · 11/03/2019 16:03

The tweet was I suppose saying that trans women are women as much as black women are (I'm assuming this is black women who were born girls with girls bits, what I, and the rest of the world until about five years ago, call 'women') Which is utter nonsense.

LangCleg · 11/03/2019 16:03

Apologies for snarky out of character post

NNTA. You're quite right.

ComputerSaysMo · 11/03/2019 15:59

Bloody hell, sarah. The comments you’ve described are jaw-droppingly offensive.

I am another person confused over how anyone could read Christie’s response as anything other than offence at McKinnon equating black women to men. How can the woke notice when arseholes insult Serena Williams by calling her masculine, but give a pass to TRA logic like McKinnon’s?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 11/03/2019 15:54

just for clarification, my comment at the beginning of the thread related solely to the very fine bits of Linford that you can see in his twitter profile pic

crikey, the other stuff didn't occur to me Shock

StealthPolarBear · 11/03/2019 15:53

That's really sick Sarah. And not sick in a good way as my 11 year old says.

ThistlyPerf · 11/03/2019 15:44

I don’t think you have anything to apologise for Sarahjconnor actually. I’m a bit WTF at this thread.

Completely agree with these posts about the fetishisation of LC's body. Remember feeling aware of it at the time, even though I was quite young.

Allergictoironing · 11/03/2019 15:29

Peagreen oh I completely agree it was Bad And Wrong to focus on his genitals rather than his sporting achievements, and The Sun were totally out of order.

PeeGreen · 11/03/2019 15:23

There you go: books.google.co.uk/books?id=NGmGAgAAQBAJ&pg=PA145

PeeGreen · 11/03/2019 15:19

Yes, Allergictoironing, but to be fair, references to the size of black men's penises are in fact crude racial sterotypes.

"He worries that for all he has achieved he will be remembered most of all for being 'Lunchbox Linford'. After he won his gold medal in Barcelona, The Sun devoted a page to Christie's genitals, euphemistically describing them as his lunchbox. A photographer turned up at Christie's celebrations carrying a lunchbox and expecting him to pose with it."

That was The Sun's decision, to focus on his genitals, and to call them his 'lunch box'.

You can't say 'well they don't talk about 's penis' and somehow blithely assume that these tabloid decisions are made in a vacuum.

He won the biggest athletics event on earth, and The Sun devoted a page to his dick.
