Sure the Emperor Has No Clothes, But You Shouldn't Say That, Philosophia

Paul Simard Smith must have written that for a joke surely

OldCrone · 06/03/2019 19:56

Sure the Emperor Has No Clothes, But You Shouldn't Say That, Philosophia (I kid you not)

I didn't believe that, so I googled.

The physical difference is the reason for women's second class status in almost every society in history.

This is why trans ideology, which tries to deny the physical difference and appears to promote a cognitive one, is so regressive and dangerous.

SlipperyLizard · 06/03/2019 18:38

Absolutely, I’ve seen lots of people saying “you feminists wanted equality etc so stop complaining” ie all this is women’s fault. I’ve never heard any woman claim that men and women are the same in all respects, let alone a feminist (would rather go against the idea of oppression on the basis of our sex if it was us who thought everyone was the same).

Alongside the comment “but why aren’t the feminists speaking up about this?”, like they haven’t been ignored and sidelined by the media for years.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 06/03/2019 18:25

RM wasn't on PM this evening. Surely RM was not being economical with the truth? That wouldn't be good - especially from the author of :
Sure the Emperor Has No Clothes, But You Shouldn't Say That, Philosophia (I kid you not) and other lengthy tomes Grin

MillytantForceit · 06/03/2019 17:51

There is a thrty minute gap in the tweets.

Iused2BanOptimist · 06/03/2019 17:49

RM has been busy on twitter the last couple of hours so not sure when an interview might have been fitted in. Hmm

EverardDigby · 06/03/2019 17:44

They seem terribly insecure with their boast about money.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 06/03/2019 17:43

Have any feminists actually said that 'men and women are the same'?

I've never seen feminist protest about women's races, insisting that they should run with the men instead. Maybe Sarah vine knows different.

It's a way to blame women for men's actions. Men want to make sport mixed sex, not women.

MillytantForceit · 06/03/2019 17:36

No sign of this.

McFibber only said they were being interviewed at 1700 gmt, not that it would go out on a particular programme.

This could be for The World Tonight at 2200 or for some current affairs magazine show such as File on 4 or Inside Science.

merrymouse · 06/03/2019 17:26

No scientist s in the UK ?

Exactly

Why are they asking McKinnon again?

I'm really happy to listen to opposing views, but wouldn't we all learn more if they at least interviewed somebody prepared to state the case for the IOC guidelines or explain how they came about - maybe somebody who knows about UK law and policy? Has it dawned on the BBC yet that McKinnnon thinks there should be no sex segregation at all?

Wouldn't it be better to at least pretend to have a proper discussion?

Or is women's sport just a novelty topic?

MsMcWoodle · 06/03/2019 17:08

FFS- I already phoned the BBC today to complain about their one sided 'interview' about women's sport this morning.
If they have another one sided debate - here is the complaint number
03700 100 222.

nauticant · 06/03/2019 17:06

RM is becoming quite the poster boy for the beeb.

If the Beeb continue as they are, they will be inviting a well-founded complaint about partisan presentation of the facts around this particular issue. A divisive issue where one particular person often appears and can insist they're not up against anyone holding a contrary opinion? In what other contexts would that be allowed?

OldCrone · 06/03/2019 17:04

From that Sarah Vine article:

One of the central tenets of feminist dogma is that women and men are the same. Not just in terms of equal rights, but capabilities...If women are as fast/strong/physically resilient as men, why does it matter if a female athlete comes up against an opponent who was once a man?

Have any feminists actually said that 'men and women are the same'? This isn't the first time I've seen an anti-feminist say this, but I wasn't aware of this being 'one of the central tenets of feminist dogma'.

We clearly aren't physically the same as men (otherwise we'd be men, not women), so why have so many people decided this is what feminists are saying?

nauticant · 06/03/2019 17:03

I think they're useful to the GC cause but they should only be given a platform if they're being interviewed with someone who knows about the subject.

Overall though their continually pushing for prominence often looks like an exercise in self-(mental)harm.

Whatisthisfuckery · 06/03/2019 17:02

RM is becoming quite the poster boy for the beeb. I’m sure a very manly sounding person aggressively insisting they should be allowed to compete with females in the female sports will have everybody nodding in agreement. Yes of course Rach is a woman, that’s why they have to keep trying to convince everyone else. Don’t you remember Sharon Davis, and Paula Radcliffe, and Sally Gunnel, and Nicola Adams, and all the other female athletes having to constantly and aggressively insist on being entered into the female category of their respective sports...?

Courday · 06/03/2019 16:56

I wish they would not give this homophobic individual any airtime.

MillytantForceit · 06/03/2019 16:51

I self-ID as Galactic Emporer so you'd better start bowing.

Cloven · 06/03/2019 16:34

Rachel identifies as a scientist though.

No, seriously, when challenged on Twitter Rachel claimed to have a background in science.

All Rachel's degrees are in philosophy.

MillytantForceit · 06/03/2019 16:33

R4 have an excellent Science team in the shapes of Adam Rutherford, a geneticist, and the mathematician Hannah Fry.

I bet they could make short work of the TA case, given the chance.

littlbrowndog · 06/03/2019 16:30

McKinnon is an unknown cyclist. What is the bbc doing.

No scientist s in the UK ?

Cloven · 06/03/2019 16:27

Much as I appreciate Rachel's services as a world record breaking Peak Trans Sherpa, it's very grating to imagine that Rachel is getting paid license fee money, repeatedly.

Does Radio 4 pay their contributors? Even if no payment, it's still rather annoying that the BBC are continuing to feed Rachel's monstrous ego, and piss away their credibility promoting Rachel's ludicrous opinions.

FleetsumNJetsum · 06/03/2019 16:22

What is going on, that BBC consider RM an EXPERT? Really, is there no one else out there? Perhaps, I don't know, maybe someone who doesn't exhibit quite such obvious narcissism and self interest and women hatred?? Come on, BBC, you should be better than this. Garrrr... can't even.

I know BBC, how about a scientist. Yes, that would do. YW

Howyoualldoworkme · 06/03/2019 16:22

Radio is perhaps the best peak trans medium for RM. With the lovely light voice and all Grin

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 06/03/2019 16:03

The BBC are making fools out of themselves by talking to clowns about this subject.

If they want to frame this as a news item, they need to be talking to experts not RM.

If they want to try to convince the nation that people can change sex and male bodies are not stronger than female ones, fine. But it's not going to work, however much they want to pretend otherwise, everyone can see the truth.
