Tavistock’s Experimentation with Puberty Blockers: Scrutinizing the Evidence

www.transgendertrend.com/tavistock-experiment-puberty-blockers/

"To summarize, GIDS launched a study to administer experimental drugs to children suffering from gender dysphoria. Between 2010 and 2014, puberty blockers were given to 50 children. This study yielded only one published scientific article on outcomes. It showed no evidence for the effectiveness of GnRHa: there was no statistically significant difference in psychosocial functioning between the group given blockers and the group given only psychological support. In addition, there is unpublished evidence that after a year on GnRHa children reported greater self-harm, and that girls experienced more behavioural and emotional problems and expressed greater dissatisfaction with their body—so puberty blockers exacerbated gender dysphoria. Yet the study has been used to justify rolling out this drug regime to several hundred children aged under 16. Almost five years after the last patient was enrolled in the experiment, there is no evidence to substantiate Carmichael’s claim ‘that the results thus far have been positive’."

Thanks, Doctoress, I wasn't aware of that connection.

DoctoressPlague · 06/03/2019 12:14

GIRES is now "independent" but it started as the charity arm of Press for Change - you know, those old-school transsexuals that some people think are being thrown under the bus.
There's no point blaming shady AGP men at this stage. Undoubtedly they exist, but blaming them alone lets others off the hook.
Keep on taking screenshots and documenting changes, people.

This is what we all need to send to our MPs with demands that they get a response from Matt Hancock (Health Secretary) and Damien Hinds (Education). These two men are presiding over government bodies that are enabling the grooming and unethical experimentation on our children.

The DfE tells schools to contact GIRES who undermine safeguarding by telling teachers to keep a child's secrets and Stonewall, who have on their trans advisory group someone who knowingly employed a paedophile / child rapist and has been found by an independent investigation not to understand safeguarding.

That's how reckless this government is when it comes to the safeguarding of children.

For anyone who is keeping a personal archive, here is the BBC page now removed:

As the parent of a self-diagnosed trans 14 yo this fucking terrifies me. We are waiting for our Tavistock appointment - CAMHS made the referral but I don't want my kid to go there.

When we do get there I will be armed with information and agreeing to nothing.

It is baffling how this has been carried on in plain sight but I agree powerful white AGP men are behind it. Nothing is more validating than children being given medical treatment by the NHS for what these men insist is the same thing.

hipsterfun · 06/03/2019 10:38

Keep taking those screenshots and making those PDFs, people. There’s going to be a lot of disappearing material.

^Now that this narrative is being debated I am hopeful that other parents will become more critical. I wonder if some of those parents who listened to the professionals and the lobbyists are now feeling betrayed, embittered and gaslighted? But what do those parents do? They believed in the ‘experts’ and have to follow through.
Puberty blockers were missold.^

For everyone who doesn’t take the SG path of dragging other parents into their own pyramid scheme of harm denial, there’s going to be tons of therapy required and a commensurately massive bill.

Well done to Michael Biggs for publishing his analysis. And to Stephanie Davies-Arai for her part in it.

It has been a feature of this whole sorry debacle that concerned individuals are the ones who are desperately trying to stop this children from being harmed further. So they are the ones doing the hard work and they are the ones getting the backlash from it from the trans cult.

The authorities, whose job it actually is to safeguard children, are either complicit or silent.

We need a Public Enquiry and Polly Carmichael needs to be compelled to answer the questions that Biggs poses.

Daughterofmabel · 06/03/2019 10:17

Horrific. Well done to Transgender Trend gor exposing this. It needs to be in the newspapers

Sheep study

"GnRHH_ irreversibly alters these cognitive functions during critical window of development."

"This result suggests that the time at which puberty normally occurs may represent a critical period of hippocampal plasticity. Perturbing normal hippocampal formation in this peripubertal period may also have long lasting effects on other brain areas and aspects of cognitive function."

www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0306453016307922

From what I can work out most developing brain studies are done in animals.

Though and seemingly testing it on kids is fine.

NeurotrashWarrior · 06/03/2019 09:38

"We do know something of the effect of puberty blockers on the brain development of adolescent sheep however. Professor Neil Evans of the Institute of biodiversity in Glasgow reported impairments to several functions, including a sheep’s capacity to find its way through a maze, which persist after stopping puberty blockers. This raises questions about the possible neurological effects of puberty blockers on children’s psychological, social, sexual and cognitive development. Some of Professor Evans’s references are listed below (Robinson et al 2014, Hough et al 2017 a & b)."

Lots of really good links and a summary on Miranda's page.

pancaketosser · 06/03/2019 09:33

The BBC took down it's page that said puberty blockers were not harmful.

One more time, 1984 was not an instruction manual.

Fertility
Although you may feel you are too young to think about having children later in life, it's important that you consider your future fertility and other possible effects on your body before choosing to move on to gender-affirming hormones.

For women this is ultimately atrophy of the vagina, clitoris and uterus especially if started so young. This damaging ability to enjoy sexual activity or carry children if they choose to later.

It's very telling that that women of the pique resistance detransition group talk about how they took testosterone because adults, including parents, gave them the green light, even though they had some doubts - adults saying that this was ok to do confirmed in themselves that this was the right course of action.

They had clamoured and begged for the hormones and it had become a typical teen polarised me against the grown ups; I know what's right for me, you can't tell me what to do etc.

We don't let them take drugs and alcohol like this.

EweSurname · 06/03/2019 09:20

bowl I'm in awe of you - not only are you a reasoned, fact-based myth dispeller and a font of knowledge but you also save things for posterity too! Flowers

ChattyLion · 06/03/2019 09:18

Agreed. Also the fact that probably if you have gender dysphoria, then having the (understatement) invasive treatment that is injected hormone stimulation to ripen eggs over weeks and then collecting eggs from your ovaries is likely to be horrific for you.

Bad enough for any woman who wants a baby or to donate or store her eggs. It’s the whole easy breezy reversible harmless tone while presenting the object as achieving more meaningful change than it ever can.

I’ve posted before how the adult NHS gender dysphoria pages state that surgery will give adults a (quote) ‘functioning’ penis or vagina. As if this were true, by any standard definition of ‘functioning’? FFS.

Bowlofbabelfish · 06/03/2019 09:08

Wakefield also conducted unethical and painful experimental procedures on children - gut biopsies that were not required for the protocol and were basically a curiosity extra.

There is NO excuse for not having a follow up on trial subjects. None whatsoever. In any trial a few patients are lost to follow up, but trials should have appropriate follow up methods and protocols. A person changing NHS number should be neither here nor there.

What would be interesting to see is the trial documentation - would this fall under freedom of information if it was conducted by the NHS? If anyone wants to dig the the documents you’d want are the protocol, the investigator brochure and the documents surrounding ethics committee meetings, and documents surrounding regulatory authority approval and applications.

This is horrendous.
