I just got the same message from twitter, i'd reported one of the tweets about Sharron, wasn't in time to report the fire one.

Needmoresleep · 29/03/2019 15:09

From McKinnons profile at the College of Charleston

"My primary research focuses on the relationship between knowledge and action. Specifically, much of my research currently focuses on the norms of assertion. I aim to explicate the epistemic dimensions of what we assert to each other, and the relevant norms potentially governing the practice."

The norms of assertion....right.

There might be a screen shot if you follow this thread.

So the latest is RMK has made some comment about wishing all women would die in a fat fire or some such vitriolic garbage. I can't see the original tweet, has anyone seen it?
Their account is not suspended yet but being investigated:

Go Sharron! Flowers

IcedPurple · 22/03/2019 21:39

Sharron is on a roll:

It breaks my heart that in the argument over sporting FairPlay the rights of the born female, the vast majority of those in a woman’s race, are being totally overlooked. Where are OUR rights? Why is it less important to look after females in our society?

F***ing love this woman.

Melroses · 22/03/2019 20:47

I always spell Sharron's name wrong!

I know - I embarrassed myself on twitter Blush

Hawkeye. Yes v apt. The measured cyclist on the news didn't make such entertaining or controversial telly as mck.

Anyoldprion Martina has also commented on a couple of other issues (the effect on lesbians and the vancouver rape relief situation I think). Sport is a gateway.

Its great that Sharon Kelly and Paula are writing to the ioc, I am very grateful to them. It's clear that the other sport authorities have taken their lead from the ioc and by raising it there it raises the issue across all competitive sport.

HawkeyeInConfusion · 22/03/2019 19:36

I read this and immediately thought of the way the BBC and others have feted RMK.

Look!!!

Sharron has peaked!

This is no longer about sport.

Sharron, thank you so much. Wonderful that you’re speaking up for all of us!

MNSDKHheroines · 21/03/2019 16:38

Thanks for the updates.

Manderleyagain · 21/03/2019 16:21

The trans cyclist was jillian bearden. She was emphasising that she would abide by whatever rules were set (quite different tone and opinion to mckinnon - trans athletes would be better off putting her on the telly and radio instead of mckinnon). Didn't catch the British cyclists name but yes she emphasised fairness for women given the advantages of male puberty.

The ioc man was British but seemed to be the one in charge of this issue for the ioc. He said words but they meant nothing. Blah blah fairness for everyone blah. I'm not sure why it was in the news today though.

TwoBlackHorses · 21/03/2019 15:56

Can't recall what the IOC man said but there was a short interview with an American trans athlete saying how great it felt to line up with the women on the start line.
Then a short interview with a British female cyclist saying how unfair it is to have men who have gone through make puberty to race with the women as one year of reduced testosterone doesn't negate the advantages.

MNSDKHheroines · 21/03/2019 15:29

Not sure. It was an IOC official so I leapt to the conclusion it was following up the letter from Sharron Davies & others. There was a cyclist but not the usual suspect I don't think...didn't have sound on though.

MilletSentToForceIt · 21/03/2019 14:50

Was it this MNSDKH
www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-47640359

Saw it this morning , but didn’t get a chance to read it.

MNSDKHheroines · 21/03/2019 14:01

IOC medic on BBC news this lunchtime but I only caught the last couple of sentences about trans & sport is complex. Can't find it on BBC website. Anyone see it ?

Datun · 07/03/2019 22:15

I agree with all that FermatsTheorem.

You only have to read the trans widows threads to see the conflict and fragility of the entire issue when it comes to looks

The other thing is that actually Sharron's appearance is utterly irrelevant. She is a very good looking woman, but the relevant point when it comes to women's sport is that, whether she looked like a supermodel or a bag of spanners, she's biologically female. To imply that her looks have anything to do with the issue at all is misogyny, plain and simple.

And it's very revealing misogyny coming from TRAs - it shows that their whole concept of "womanhood" boils down to "looking like Barbie."

Some of the more prominent activists on twitter simultaneously seem to believe they do look like Barbie (all those pouting selfies while wearing ridiculously clinging clothes in a pornified parody of female dress), while hating themselves for not looking like Barbie - the cognitive dissonance must just about make their heads explode. Then, because of the cognitive dissonance, they project like crazy onto women: too pretty - they hate a woman for being what they are not; not pretty enough/good looking, but in a strong way - they hate a woman for being incontrovertibly a woman while not looking like Barbie.

It's all projection, all incoherent, all about holding multiple conflicting views at the same time, all about cognitive dissonance, and most especially, all about DARVO (reversing the roles of victim and offender so they transform themselves into the most oppressed people in the world - even as they engineer the most vicious twitter pile-ons and take photos of themselves with pink baseball bats).

Mankyfoot · 07/03/2019 17:40

some of RM's followers are picking apart aspects of Sharron's appearance, implying she is less womanly than they are Hmmbecause of her height and athletic build. Yet if anyone dares to comment on a TRAs Adam's apple or large feet then OMG that is literal violence.

Do these people not understand that we women have been subjected to insults/unwanted comments/catcalls regarding our appearance for most of our lives? Water off a duck's back. Sharron is over 50 (and looks incredible), and, like most women her age, she probably no longer gives a flying fuck.

Vixxxy · 07/03/2019 13:57

McKinnon i yet another TRA I would not be surprised if it came out they were actually a GC plant! Like LM. And Muscato.

FreezerBird · 07/03/2019 11:12

I'm hoping that Specialized's 'looking into it' has the same result as Martina's 'further research'.

RockyFlintstone · 07/03/2019 10:58

Someone needs to send Specialized Peach Yoguhurts 'Bicycle Analogy' video! Grin
