Miley Cyrus is in a heterosexual marriage but appears to think she has redefined it as queer and 'genderless'.

The emperor has no clothes.

I know woman who calls herself queer. Married a man and at the wedding told everyone how important it is that everyone knows her true identity, that she is queer. Everyone was eye rolling all over the place.

Whatisthisfuckery · 21/02/2019 20:00

The very special heterosexuals can have the word queer for all I care. I certainly don’t want it.

silentcrow · 21/02/2019 19:50

Oh, bless.

She is nowhere near the first bisexual woman to be in a long term relationship with a straight (white, privileged) man.

I've been at it since before she was having birthdays in double figures, FFS. Never felt the need to describe myself as queer or anything other than a bi woman married to a straight (ish) man.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/02/2019 19:27

She should move to Yorkshire, where they know there's nowt so queer as folk, and twerk is what t'folk do at t'mill.

I think that's as serious a comment as this warrants.

FeministCat · 21/02/2019 18:57

I am surprised she has not had to start wearing a cervical collar with all that navel gazing.

SleepingStandingUp · 21/02/2019 18:50

The Hemsworth brothers seem pretty ordinary beyond the beauty that is Chris. I do wonder what her MIL thinks of all this "apparently my youngest is in a queer gender neutral marriage". "oh, did he marry a man /someone trans etc?" No, he married a woman! "

ScipioAfricanus · 21/02/2019 18:43

Incidentally, I have a family member who said she was bisexual in her early twenties. Boyfriends before that, and two husbands since.

Kettleon80 · 21/02/2019 18:37

She said: 'I wore a dress on my wedding day because I felt like it, I straightened my hair because I felt like it, but that doesn’t make me become some instantly “polite hetero lady.”
Perish the thought!

Don't worry Miley. You're still an 'edgy rebel'. You're still kraaazzzyyy. You don't give a shit! Go you!

I think her public persona is nothing like the person she really is, she was put on a path that we have seen so many times over of child stars going off the rails blah blah blah. She was hailed as an LGBT icon for a while if I remember correctly, so I imagine she doesn't want that lucrative fan base to disappear now she is in a heterosexual marriage.

I think this is so true actually, I bet in real life she is really quite down to earth and boring normal.

ChattyLion · 21/02/2019 18:31

Grin bless her though

ChattyLion · 21/02/2019 18:30

That’s nice dear

^^

Moralitym1n1 · 21/02/2019 18:23

Takes all sorts I suppose.

Moralitym1n1 · 21/02/2019 18:22

Yeah I feel like Liam is like 'yes dear....redefining..... queer..... anyway where shall we go for dinner'?

I don't know how/why he puts up with her nonsense tbh. I thought he'd cottoned on when they finished, was v surprised when they got back together, equally surprised they're still together.

MrsJayy · 21/02/2019 18:18

It is all a bit Ruby Rose isn't it? Its probably seen as trendsetting and quirky but it is just dull

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 21/02/2019 18:13

The WomensRights section of Mumsnet, for one? I mean you're here moaning about it

I’m here moaning about it because this is considered news. As if being heterosexual or in a “standard” heterosexual relationship is somehow less worthy.

Kettleon80 · 21/02/2019 18:02

Miley just screams mildly talented singer who is desperate to be interesting. Like, ok love, you married a guy, but you're still one of the special interesting ones, not like the boring normies.

Exactly

Not everyone is special. Everyone is just bog standard bumbling along human, with their own individual quirks of personality. I DGAF if Miley wants to call herself queer or any of the daft new terms recently coined to mark oneself as exciting and different.

It's actually the self-hating rejection of being a woman in a basic heterosexual relationship that annoys me. Its not a shameful or embarrassing thing, just being a lesbian mother isn't, or being bisexual and settling down in a heterosexual or homosexual marriage. They're just things we all do that no one really cares about except the people actually in our lives.

Ffs.

AssassinatedBeauty · 21/02/2019 18:00

She'll be embarrassed when she matures and looks back on that article. Or, she knows fine well that it's nonsense and she's just saying it for the attention.

She is nowhere near the first bisexual woman to be in a long term relationship with a straight (white, privileged) man. She's not even particularly gender non conforming either.

SleepingStandingUp · 21/02/2019 18:00

just because she’s married to a man doesn’t mean she isn’t bi/pansexual
I'm sure she is, after all she knows herself well enough. But what makes he not special is that she isn't the first or last bi/pan person to marry someone of the opposite sex. What exactly does she think she's redefining. If she was lesbian but married to a man but adament she was lesbian, then maybe. But she's not. She's just an ordinary married woman.

"You all help restore my sanity. I saw that article and just thought the world had gone mad. You ain’t special. You’re not doing anything new. And who the fuxk cares."

Moralitym1n1 · 21/02/2019 18:00

I don't even know why I'm discussing someone who's had their tongue outside their mouth for most of the last 5 years.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 21/02/2019 17:58

You all help restore my sanity. I saw that article and just thought the world had gone mad. You ain’t special. You’re not doing anything new. And who the fuxk cares.
