Miley Cyrus is in a heterosexual marriage but appears to think she has redefined it as queer and 'genderless'.

The emperor has no clothes.

I am not into reading about so called "slebs", but when I see rubbish like that, I just think what a narcissistic twonk Smile

ComputerSaysMo · 22/02/2019 07:24

Although... i have to admit. I don't really understand what queer means? Is it anyone who isn't heterosexual??

From what I can ascertain, it’s anyone who doesn’t have sex once a year in the missionary position with the lights off.

InionEile · 22/02/2019 02:11

I think she is free to label herself and her sexuality any way she wants, as we all are, but it's a step too far to say that she is 'redefining' heterosexual marriage in having had relationships with both men and women.

Human sexuality has always been fluid, sometimes of necessity. In our homophobic past, it was very difficult for LGB people to openly live in a way that matched with their sexuality so it was common enough for people who would nowadays be openly gay to live in a straight marriage for the purposes of 'respectability'.

I'm a boring old heterosexual so what would I know but if I were gay, I would be mighty pissed off at any blue-haired 20-something with notions about how edgy they are appropriating the term 'queer' to pretend they are interesting based on a one-month fling they had in college with someone of the same sex. Kind of insulting.

FloralBuntingIsObnoxious · 22/02/2019 00:50

You know, I'm quite gutted about the blue hair thing. I quite fancied a lovely royal blue myself.

I did once nearly have my eyebrow pierced but I bottled it after my friend told me scary stories about catching nerves and paralyzing your face so that you looked permanently surprised. I wanted to be a bit wild, not look like post extensive surgery Barry Manilow, so I passed.

7Days · 22/02/2019 00:45

Agreed Floral.

But I must take issue. Not all queers have blue hair. Some of them do have pierced tongues. So yanno, maybe you should educate yourself, hmmm?

FloralBuntingIsObnoxious · 22/02/2019 00:39

I really don't like the 'reclaiming' of queer by a generation that by and large knows fuck all about how horrible it is to have it spat at you in hatred, and then grabs it greedily like a handful of sweeties and defines it as all the funky trendy blue hairs being edgy and emotionally spiritual.

RhymingRabbit · 21/02/2019 23:58

I suppose all labels are about the context in which they are used. "I am pansexual" on a tinder profile - totally appropriate. "I am pansexual" said in a loud voice to wee Jean on her way to the Bingo on the Number 23 bus- virtue signalling.

Haworthia · 21/02/2019 23:33

I take your point @RhymingRabbit but I still find the “pan” label more about virtue signalling than anything else.

littlbrowndog · 21/02/2019 23:17

I dunno really
Shag who you want just don’t make up,fancy names for it

RhymingRabbit · 21/02/2019 23:13

I know what your saying @Haworthia .. but by that logic no one has any sexuality until they have sex?

RhymingRabbit · 21/02/2019 23:10

Although... i have to admit. I don't really understand what queer means? Is it anyone who isn't heterosexual??

Haworthia · 21/02/2019 23:09

I wonder if there’s anyone born before 1990 who defines as “pansexual”. I also wonder whether there’s anyone who defines as “pansexual” who can actually say they’ve had sex with a men and women, trans or not. Because it all seems rather... theoretical to me.

No no, I’m not bi, I’m pan. Well I haven’t slept with a trans person, but I really need you all to know that I definitely would because I’m so woke”.

RhymingRabbit · 21/02/2019 23:05

@Luggsays 🤣

CoachBombay · 21/02/2019 23:03

As a bisexual woman married to a man I'm nothing more than that really. I'm not "queer" or redefining anything!

In short DH I think gets a pervy kick off my old sex stories with ex partners who are women and probably. ecretly fantasises about them, but would never tell me that. He probably has burried in the back of his brain somewhere some wild fantasy that were going to go dogging or suddenly become swingers or something, but again wouldn't dare bring it up because he knows the response he'd get. 😂

I always just preferred dating men in the long term, and personally often found women too difficult to date. I'd mainly just used to shag them or have short flings with women, that's about it really?! Hardly radical!!

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 21/02/2019 23:02

I know hetero serial monogamist women who call themselves "queer" without irony.

Tbf though, the fastest way to stop all this nonsense would be if all us middle aged heterosexual women stared to call ourselves queer etc. Nothing cools the proverbial quivering loins of the Special Brigade than your mum joining in.

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 21/02/2019 22:45

I think it's right to be on the FWR board.
We need woke twattery from the likes of Miley to cheer us up from all the heavy shit.

OlennasWimple · 21/02/2019 22:35

I'm not sure I could cope with having the delectable Chris Hemsworth as my BiL....

ChattyLion · 21/02/2019 22:24

I know hetero serial monogamist women who call themselves "queer" without irony.

I do too. I cringe for them and literally have Katy Perry’s ‘I Kissed A Girl’ going though my head..

Zwischenwasser · 21/02/2019 22:09

Oops xpost.

Took me too long to look up the figures.

Zwischenwasser · 21/02/2019 22:08

It’s amazing how many bi/pan sexual individuals end up in straight relationships. Hugely more than 50%. All the “bisexual” women I knew from my youth ended up married to men

Yes, but that’s simple probability isn’t it. The U.K. population is around 6% gay/bi. There is simply a hell of a lot more available straight men than gay women. Even without other social pressures I was always more likely to settle with a male thn a female. Despite the fact that I have no preference for male over female partners.

pachyderm · 21/02/2019 22:06

That Guardian article!! I can't believe it's not from The Onion. It reads like pure satire. But then I remember I know hetero serial monogamist women who call themselves "queer" without irony. Oh how I miss the old Guardian. And the old reality 😣

riotlady · 21/02/2019 22:03

@HermioneWeasley it really shouldn’t be surprising, from a statistical standpoint. There are far more straight men in the world than there are queer women, therefore if you’re into both it’s more likely that you’ll end up with a straight man.

Kettleon80 · 21/02/2019 21:53

What playground insults? What thread police? You're the one acting all superior.

Not at all do I want everyone to agree with me. I fully expected some kind of reaction like yours to be honest. But I do get pretty annoyed at this 'women who sexualise themselves are representing feminism because as long as they are CHOOSING to sexualise themselves it ok' it's bollocks to me- which to me you were inferring with the 'how dare you question a woman and what she does with her body' etc statement. If you weren't inferring that, my apologies.

My icon of bisexuality comment was aimed at you saying I question her sexuality like it was such a terrible thing to do and like you assume she is bisexual. Yeah I do question her sexuality! It's quite clear to me that she is using this as a meal ticket and in an attempt to sound cool and make millions. That's my opinion.

Yep she wants her cake and to eat it too for exactly as Absinthefriends suggests. Nothing to do with the bisexuality.

Miley Cyrus and what she represents is the exact opposite of feminism to me so yep to me this is very relevant to this forum. If you don't agree maybe report the thread to the thread police?

I always found her to be a bit too desperate.

ballsdeep · 21/02/2019 21:48

She's making a comeback. She is just trying to appeal to everyone.
