Just seen this on Twitter.

I’d like to think her successor will be less homophobic. We shall see, although I’m not holding out much hope.

What is worrying is where she is going next. Typically these CEO's move from one org to another. It may turn out to be good news for Stonewall (dependant on new appointee) but she might be starting afresh 'queering' a whole new sector.

Save the Children. They need help at the moment and just think of all the meaningful changes she could implement.

Needmoresleep · 21/02/2019 17:13

Owen Jones...

The possibilities are endless, and frightening.

Susie Green..

DoctoressPlague · 21/02/2019 17:13

She has previously said that she would like to go into politics. Not sure that'll be her next step, but I'd be very surprised if she didn't have something lined up.
Please don't let it be Women's Aid...

RockyFlintstone · 21/02/2019 17:11

I am so interested in who the new CEO will be - which way will they go?!

LangCleg · 21/02/2019 17:10

I think Brian Paddick should throw his hat into the ring.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 21/02/2019 17:10

Oh Ruth will parachute straight into another top public office job where she can continue to busily destroy women and safeguarding and other things like that. It's an incestuous bunch, they all periodically move chairs around the posts.

Of course it will be a TW, who will self define as lesbian.

nauticant · 21/02/2019 17:10

You've got to scroll down through a fair amount of Disney*-fueled tweets to find ones that make sense, eg:

Perhaps history will retrospectively trans you and people will be able to blame the downfall of Stonewall on the actions of a straight white man.

For now though, you betrayed all lesbians and made same sex attraction unacceptable, so that's your legacy.

and I don't mean "disnae have a p**s"

WeRiseUp · 21/02/2019 17:06

We all know what that means.

(In the words of Roz Kaveney)

"Hairy prong".

UnderHerEye · 21/02/2019 17:04

When the new head of stonewall is a white straight male it may take a while for the penny to drop about how ridiculous it is- but it will eventually

FloralBuntingIsObnoxious · 21/02/2019 17:03

She's leaving to make way for lesbian CEO Mark 2 - the improved version. We all know what that means.

SirVixofVixHall · 21/02/2019 17:01

I felt initial delight, but now have a sinking feeling that yes, this could well get worse before it gets better.
Ruth has betrayed lesbians, and all women. Shame on her.

BoomBoomsCousin · 21/02/2019 16:56

Just to give you nightmares - Isn't Women's Aid looking for a new CEO?

It's interesting that she's stepping down without having already been hired for a new role. That normally indicates being asked to leave one way or another. But I can't really see why Stonewall would ask her to leave. There has been some push back on the Trans agenda, but from the perspective of those who want that agenda, she has been incredibly effective. So I wonder if there is something we don't know.

ADropofReality · 21/02/2019 16:55

A lesbian who has presided over making the cotton ceiling a thing; pressurising young lesbians into having sex with people with penises. Goodness me, what a thing to be proud of.

Who's next, then? Alex Drummond? Aimee Challenor? Sarah Brown?

FloralBuntingIsObnoxious · 21/02/2019 16:51

Imagine being the CEO of a charity for LGB people, a lesbian yourself, and leaving after a decade and a half proud that you had converted it into a charity to enable heterosexual men to shit all over lesbians?

PalmTree101 · 21/02/2019 16:51

100% going to be a white lesbian trans woman with a penis (i.e. a straight male)

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 21/02/2019 16:47

Oh, Shelter is a good guess. They can start prioritising housing for trans people over families and single mothers.

Sounds worryingly accurate.
This is going to get far far worse before it gets better.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 21/02/2019 16:44

What is worrying is where she is going next.

BBC? Guardian? LibDems? Greens?

Oh, Shelter is a good guess. They can start prioritising housing for trans people over families and single mothers.

WeRiseUp · 21/02/2019 16:43

Maybe someone on the trans advisory board is moving up in the world?

Bowlofbabelfish · 21/02/2019 16:42

It’s a merry go round soaked in gravy at that level. She will leave and take up another chummy position for a hugely inflated salary.

This stuff damages the public perception of all charities. I no longer give to big ones, only small ones I know personally or have good reason to think aren’t corrupt

My thoughts precisely. She'll end up somewhere else in the Third Sector Industrial Complex and get busy fucking that up.

Binglebong · 21/02/2019 16:41

I know she is connected with Shelter, will probably spread the "love".

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 21/02/2019 16:39

rustees have recently realised Stonewall’s PR has gone down the toilet and are scapegoating Ruth Hunt

She should have left years ago then shouldn't she, instead of being a puppet.

RomanticFatigue · 21/02/2019 16:38

The comments though Shock

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 21/02/2019 16:38

The trustees have probably noticed Stonewall is losing credibility and are blaming her but the next person they appoint will continue the same policy. I don't expect them to improve.
