Just seen this on Twitter.

I’d like to think her successor will be less homophobic. We shall see, although I’m not holding out much hope.

Thanks for finding it. I read the paper copy at breakfast in a hotel and couldn't find the journalists name anywhere but was really impressed with the article.

Muddysnowdrop · 23/02/2019 10:55

I’d like to know more about this “reportedly in some despair” idea before absolving RH for too much of the shitstorm she created.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 23/02/2019 10:53

These people played you like a fiddle.

And you've been too spineless to stand up to it.

HamiltonCork · 23/02/2019 10:53

I have absolutely zero sympathy for Ruth - her personal greed and laziness has destroyed women’s rights.

Popchyk · 23/02/2019 10:50

I think she totally underestimated what a poisoned chalice taking on the T would be for Stonewall.

I think she saw it as a box to tick, the funding would flow, and the whole T issue would settle down as a minority issue for the very few meek and kindly people who have genital surgery.

Hunt did not do her research.

So she ticked the box, the funding came in, and then she had to deal with the T who she had let into the tent. Who stampeded in in great numbers and included fetishists, transvestites, minor attracted people and people with personality disorders. The T thought they owned the tent (most of the funding is for the T now) so the dozens of members on the Trans Advisory Board become more and more strident in their demands and Stonewall was forced into the position that they are in today. Which is that same-sex attraction is transphobic. And therefore wrong.

Stonewall should have said no to the T from the start. It is not a sexual orientation and therefore they should have never have included it in Stonewall. Worse, transgender ideology is actively homophobic.

That's where greed and not doing your homework gets you, Ruth. These people played you like a fiddle.

TimeLady · 23/02/2019 10:48

I agree, EatCashews

So who has been pulling Ruth's strings?

youllhavehadyourtea · 23/02/2019 10:39

Wow, that's a strong article in the Scotsman by Susan Dalgety - no punches pulled in the second half.

Muddysnowdrop · 23/02/2019 10:38

I love this phrasing by Susan Dalgety in the Scotsman - campaigning for the rights of those people who identify as a different gender stereotype to their sex
I think bringing back the word stereotype whenever we see gender is a good step towards reality.

EatCashews · 23/02/2019 10:29

A penny for your thoughts, Ruth.

She is only 38, and has a good chunk of her working life ahead of her. Heck, without wanting to speculate, she could, in theory, decide to have three children now and settle down somewhere in the home counties.

But if she wasn't the ideologue-in-chief at Stonewall, who was?

To me she will always remain the woman who said live on Radio 4 (if I remember correctly) that there are no such things as sex-based rights. I do hope people will continue to ask her about that.

That's an excellent article, 2rebecca. Thanks

2rebecca · 23/02/2019 09:47

The Scotsman today has an article on this as well. They didn't say which journalist wrote it. They started writing about the number of women in the breakaway MP group and moved on to how damaging Ruth Hunt's Stonewall policies had been for women and girls

Courday · 23/02/2019 09:17

Excellent article by Janice.
Sounds like we need to hear more about Ruth Hunt's reasons for leaving Stonewall. I hope she goes public.

OvaHere · 23/02/2019 09:04

Great article by Janice as always.

TimeLady · 23/02/2019 08:02

Article by Janice Turner in The Times included this intriguing phrase

with its lesbian CEO Ruth Hunt resigning this week reportedly in some despair

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/male-bodies-dont-belong-in-womenssport-n5ghggrpk?shareToken=fcb08a516ee7de09af16f9ba57898121

So.…. if that's true, who has really been calling the shots at Stonewall? Or is she just in despair that her ill-conceived plan has gone tits up?

HawayMan · 22/02/2019 21:42

I would love it if Stonewall's next CEO was a straight white man. It would peak trans a lot of people!

Having a natal lesbian as their CEO gave Stonewall credit that they don't deserve. They are no friend to gay people.

Verv · 22/02/2019 21:41

The world is becoming increasingly stupid imo, trousering.
Cant remember the rest of our conversation as it would appear that whatever I've said has been considered to be in violations of guidelines which have no bearing to anything I have posted.

or

Penises Penises Penises

CallMeSirShotsFired · 22/02/2019 21:06

the BBC? Amnesty?

They just don't seem "shouty" enough for her. They're just kind of quietly, bovinely, getting on with the daily business of woman hating - not making a song and dance about it, IYKWIM?

WeRiseUp · 22/02/2019 21:05

Penetration without resistance?

ChattyLion · 22/02/2019 20:59

I’m interested to know how the slogans are going to evolve with someone new in charge...

Penises without Exception?
Acceptance without Safeguarding?

youllhavehadyourtea · 22/02/2019 19:39
