The left is no less misogynistic than the right and neither serves the interests of women. Why is it any worse to align ourselves with someone who denies us the right to abortion and full reproductive autonomy than someone who quite literally advocates for our erasure as a sex class and as a consequence advocates for the destruction of human rights laws that protect us?

I think the sly manipulation is worse than anything. The left doesn't care about women. Never has. We've been used.

There is a lot of truth in this. Feminism has failed to liberalise women. Yes women have more rights than they did fifty or a hundred years ago but that hasn’t translated into more freedom for the majority of them sadly.

The Left has always been more misogynistic than the Right. It’s all about jobs for men. Entitlement for men. Who cares about retail jobs? Caring jobs? Not Corbyn’s Labour. Their concern is manufacturing...

The Right expects cream to rise. Whatever shortfalls that may have, it is no surprise there have been two female prime ministers from the Right.

Great stuff. We have the most loathsome beardy shits in Ireland; self-righteous bullying misogynists calling women terfs and thinking they can dictate the terms of feminism to women. I'm aghast at the inability of young women to see through these arseholes.

Very thought provoking essay which has definitely captured some of my feelings on the subject. I'm absolutely sick of political tribalism. I'm currently still hanging on to my labour membership but I don't want to be confined by it. I want to be free to say what I think and talk/listen to & read anyone I'm interested in (including those I disagree with) without judgment from those on the left. When it comes to women's rights I am happy to support/work with anyone willing to fight for them (we may not agree on other issues but I can cope with that).

I’m a proper socialist and I agree wholeheartedly with that article. It’s a different kind of misogyny, and less overt, but it’s still misogyny.
(Sort of) Beyond the trans debate, I’ve been reading The Second Sex recently and it’s only just occurred to me the extent to which men (even the nice, decent, respectful ones) still regard me as “Other”. It’s really starting to get to me- I feel angry a lot and can’t explain why to them because it sounds unreasonable.
