It's a terrible time to be a woman at the moment. A friend of mine just spotted a load of these posters in the centre of Manchester. It seems it's fine to incite people to commit violent actions towards women....

You can email Neale Gibson at

[email protected]

I'm about to do so to ask him to clarify his position on supporting violence against women. Anyone care to join me?

NotTerfNorCis · 15/02/2019 10:20

Is it just me or does that symbol in the picture, with its black lines and sharp angles, look a little like a swastika?

beagadorsrock · 15/02/2019 10:07

Replace terfs with black people, Jews, Muslims, gay people, or the disabled. Now would you say that?

Nope? Why not, mr labour councillor?

TBF (tongue in cheek?), probably if it was about Israel/Zionism, they would...

Ereshkigal · 15/02/2019 09:53

These people are unbelievable misogynists. As you say if he said that about any other oppressed group it would be a sacking offence, I think.

Bowlofbabelfish · 15/02/2019 09:50

"No it's not incitement but an indication of how people feel about terfs

Transphobic

Ereshkigal · 15/02/2019 09:42

Yes it's notable that it's how they feel about women that is the issue, rather than genuinely tiiotransphobic men.

ToeToToe · 15/02/2019 09:40

"No it's not incitement but an indication of how people feel about terfs"

Fucking hell. Open season on women who won't swallow trans ideology, then.

Bowlofbabelfish · 15/02/2019 09:37

How people feel about terf. Shock

Some people are anti Semitic- they probably feel that too. Is it OK for them to plaster antisemitic propaganda on lamp posts?

Some people are racist - they likely feel quite strongly about it. Is it OK to plaster racist posters on lamp posts?

Clearly no and no. So ‘feels’ isnt really a reason for it is it?

Labour, seriously. You’re despicable

TBH, their lack of attention to grammar and placement means their poster is saying the opposite of what they mean LOL. Although what they mean is more than ably backed up with their threats - you don't need grammar for that. Angry Hope you have screen shots.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 15/02/2019 09:35

Well yeah it's a labour councillor, of course he'd say it's okay.

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 15/02/2019 09:33

Thank goodness somebody in authority has entered the Debate. A labour councillor speaks up oh hang on.....

It could possibly be a public order offence. Threatening to kill women might meet that description.

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 15/02/2019 09:24

Some people are really unhinged.
This is an Aussie TRA, admitting to being a MRA (prior to transition). 👀👀👀👀👀👀

Here they are currently discussing punching people in the face. Which is a recurrent theme....

Nice

It never ceases to fascinate me the level of cognitive dissonance required by TRAs in order to maintain the fantasy that they are being subjected to violence from feminists, when all the violence in the debate has thus far come from them toward feminists.

This is one of the ways that TRAs are like religious fanatics, their beliefs trump reality and factual information every single time.

VeniceAllan · 15/02/2019 03:00

Women aren't a protected group in hate crime legislation so police won't be interested. Angry

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 15/02/2019 00:13

I think the time has come for them to step up and do something about this . These young man are out of control and they need reining in

This is sickening and I would personally argue you could sue providing you were confident there was an imminent threat of violence towards someone. Doesn’t matter which side of the debate you’re on, threats of violence are unacceptable. (I’m GC btw.)

Illyria47 · 15/02/2019 00:04

Right, I am going to e-mail Andy Burnham and ask him what he is going to do about this. I am also going to alert my Local MPs office as it wouldn't surprise me if we had the same sort of stuff going on here in NZ soon. Presumably it wouldn't be taken down whereas Speak Up for Women's posters were, merely for advertising a public meeting in non threating language.

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 14/02/2019 23:43

Bonkers evening. All from one hate poster attacking women.

Really sorry to hear that Menstruator. Outrageous. Keep safe.

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 14/02/2019 23:09

It has been a scary and eye-opening experience.

Looking at the people's photos the abuse has come from they are all young men with long hair and eyeshadow egging each other on to abuse women.

mammoon · 14/02/2019 23:04

What the hell? How is that remotely okay? But a woman saying "women don't have penises" is a hate crime and makes people feel unsafe?

If people can't see the misogyny and double standards it's because they don't want to see it. It could not be clearer.
