This is also covered in the Telegraph but I cannot access their article.
We have a similiar case in NZ, and I've put the links below. Scout had a baby girl just before Christmas. I am glad that everything went well for Scout and their daughter, but the denial of biological reality by Scout (especially in the Spinoff article) and the transgender parent in the Mail article is really sad. The media in NZ hasn't helped either by its decision to report Scout's story on Scout's own terms. In real life Dads don't get pregnant and have babies, at least human ones don't.
Other transgender parents in the UK have recorded themselves as the mother apparently, so it will be interesting to see where this goes.

I've just filled in a visa form and needed to put my mother's details in so how would that work?

Bowlofbabelfish · 13/02/2019 08:20

The birth certificate is a document for the child. It benefits the child and is used for the child. The child has a right to a birth certificate that accurately reflects reality.

The mother is using the birth certificate as a validation prop for themselves. That’s not Ok.

GerryblewuptheER · 13/02/2019 08:18

This is ridiculous. Who ever knew south park could be real Hmm

Its important information the child deserves the truth on the birth certificate.

Pandoraslastchance · 13/02/2019 08:18

Ok I'm confused. If they believe themselves to be a man then why would they want to use their "wrong parts" to create a child?surely that is as ultimately biologically female as you can get. I mean gestating, delivering and feeding a baby are so over poweringly female then why doesn't it trigger them?

andyoldlabour · 13/02/2019 08:13

The mother really hasn't thought about this have they? I say "mother" because men cannot have babies.
A totally selfish person who puts their own ideology before the feelings and future treatment of their child.

I always worry about these fads in this worrying time. You really do have to think about the effects of your actions on your children. Being motherless can easily turn you into a non-person. And once you are considered to be a non-person, that’s it for life.

I know Dimsumloseum. I really don't understand how a woman can experience birth and in the same breath be resolute in the belief that she is not the child's mother. Scout's story is really disturbing for me in that those around Scout seem so happy to allow them to live in such an unreal bubble. And I don't see how Scout could be allowed to claim they are the child's father on the birth certificate instead of the mother, as that would be false information. I hope that the judges rule against the UK transman's request but in these times one just doesn't know.

I feel for the kid. I have nothing against transmen at all. But this is something that will affect the child down the line on all sorts of official documents where you have to declare parentage (passports etc). I wonder how all that could possibly pan out.

OtepotiLilliane42 · 13/02/2019 05:55

That would be nice Yeah.
I hope you are having the same hot weather we are in the deep south.
