www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/transgender-women-should-entitled-womb-13972102

"Because once the medical community accept this as a treatment for cis-women with uterine infertility, such as congenital absence of a womb, then it would be illegal to deny a trans-female who has completed her transition.

"The most important step is the harvesting from the donor as great care is required to avoid damage to the arteries and veins supplying the uterus.
Trans females have a much narrower pelvis than cis-women of the same height, but there would still be room for them to carry a child.

“Supplemental hormones could be taken to replicate the changes that occur in the body when a woman is pregnant.

I thought the doctor was, err, ‘biased’. No?

WeRiseUp · 09/02/2019 17:32

The surgeon is both a bloke and a Dr Frankenstein freak. I don't think he is in a position to talk about ethics or human rights.

WeRiseUp · 09/02/2019 17:30

And that keeps happening

Yes, like shero Maggie and her blog.

RockyFlintstone · 09/02/2019 17:29

I really don't see how you can say that trans people are 'marginalised' when you have the police giving out cautions for thought crime and councils agreeing that stickers stating that women don't have penises are 'hate crime'.

Anyway...

According to Snopes, that fem-flo tampon thing is a hoax. Thank god!

Two fairly obvious problems I can see with womb transplants to men:

There is no exit in the case of a bleed or miscarriage. If there was some sort of rupture or something else went wrong (highly likely I would have thought) where does it go? Does it just collect in the womb?

Surely before figuring out how to get a bloke to sustain a pregnancy, you will have have to have figured out how to get a woman to sustain a pregnancy, ie, be in a place where miscarriages no longer exist? In fact really, they would have need to have figured out how to sustain a pregnancy outside of a body completely, given that a man has about the same ability to sustain a pregnancy as an artifical womb in a lab. That seems a long way off?

Ethics aside in all of this obviously!

WeRiseUp · 09/02/2019 17:29

How funny I misspelled 'astroturf' as 'astroterf'....

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 09/02/2019 17:28

It was pushed, and the actual public saw it for what it was.

And that keeps happening.

Bowlofbabelfish · 09/02/2019 17:27

Their flyer was perceived as anti trans by the mainstream

No it was pushed as being transphobic

WeRiseUp · 09/02/2019 17:21

mainstream medis just reported the outraged frothing from Stonewall et al.

The outraged frothing was as funny as it was Orwellian and disturbing. Proud lesbians bearing a 'hateful' message that they are 'female homosexuals' (duh duh DAHhhh!) at march for homosexual visibility and pride. Clutch your pearls in dismay! Those evil wimmins forgot that it is supposed to be a corporate astroterfing exercise for straight queer people.

youllhavehadyourtea · 09/02/2019 17:20

Trans activists who have the ear of the media framed the Get the L Out protest as anti-trans because it was useful for them to do that. Anything which doesn't centre trans is trans-phobic.

Datun · 09/02/2019 17:16

Well now that’s just silly, randomly projecting emotions and motives into posters who point out another angle on something you seem determined to present in a certain light.

Ah okay, I'm glad you agree with me over the basis for their protest at least.

But I would have to take issue with My point is that they did a fairly rubbish job of it in the sense that few people outside the immediate movement understood their message in the way that they intended.

... on the continuing basis that it is transactivists reaction to that, which, yet again, reveals the agenda. In which light, their protest was incredibly useful.

Lesbians are female homosexuals. Anyone who can disagree with that, is wrong. If there are loads of people who disagree with it, they're all wrong.

Trousering · 09/02/2019 17:07

To say that the mainstrem condemend the get the L out action is really not true. Mainstream medis just reported the outraged frothing from Stonewall et al.

FlyingOink · 09/02/2019 17:05

Their flyer was perceived reported as anti trans by biased sources, and their protest was openly and widely condemned as inappropriate for all sorts of reasons that had little to do with the facts
FTFY
Their action peaked me and several other women I know. Those women at Pride are heroes.

FeministCat · 09/02/2019 17:04

Also true, I should have specified that organ selection/donation teams choose appropriate candidates - donor families don’t get to choose and privacy is afforded to the donee (the donor family has no right to know their identity though of course there are cases of donees seeking out donor families to thank them etc).

terryleather · 09/02/2019 17:04

Weird formatting fail there...!

terryleather · 09/02/2019 17:03

Isn't it strange that the TRAs/AWAs ^ seem to be so strongly against so called carceral feminism yet use the police as their own pet attack dogs for the crimes of tweeting a limerick or saying men can't be women on social media, amongst other heinous crimes/ thoughtcrimes^...it's puzzling Hmm

FlyingOink · 09/02/2019 17:02

I do not see any measure by which trans people are structurally marginalised in the UK.
When "trans" meant homosexual transsexuals maybe. Now, that the bulk are straight men? Not at all.

ShihTzup · 09/02/2019 17:01

You go ahead and console yourself ... The bottom line is that they were saying get the L out of the LGBT. They were saying that lesbians are being crushed by the transgender ideology. They were protesting at how lesbians are targeted for sex by men identifying as women...

My point is that they did a fairly rubbish job of it in the sense that few people outside the immediate movement understood their message in the way that they intended. Their flyer was perceived as anti trans by the mainstream and by the Pride movement, and their protest was openly and widely condemned as inappropriate for all sorts of reasons that had little to do with the banner with the definition if lesbian on it.

And obviously quite a few people were infuriated by lesbians standing up for themselves. ...Including, it appears, you.

Well now that’s just silly, randomly projecting emotions and motives into posters who point out another angle on something you seem determined to present in a certain light.

LangCleg · 09/02/2019 17:00

Good point.

Many would argue that exclusion from the same access to due process enjoyed by other citizens is a necessary component of marginalisation. It would certainly mean axes of structural exclusion such as housing and employment.

I do not see any measure by which trans people are structurally marginalised in the UK. They are covered by legislation protecting them from it, and state institutions, including the police, are scrambling to privilege this group, as we have seen by the flurry of recent incidents.

Trousering · 09/02/2019 16:54

Jazzbunny

I've called on you several times now to start addressing the real problem...

This has really amused me. You sound rather full of yourself.

You are being played

Nope, but it's clear how much you have been.

FlyingOink · 09/02/2019 16:53

We can approximate the actual marginalisation of genderists by their willingness to use the police and by the police's willingness to oblige even when no crime has been committed. Hint: not marginalised at all.
Good point.

LangCleg · 09/02/2019 16:51

I know gay people were unlikely to call the police for a gay bashing. I never called them when I was beaten up. I know black people don't trust the police.

That's because actually marginalised people are not treated well by state enforcement institutions (regardless of how much virtue signalling the state does).

We can approximate the actual marginalisation of genderists by their willingness to use the police and by the police's willingness to oblige even when no crime has been committed. Hint: not marginalised at all.

FlyingOink · 09/02/2019 16:46

Do people with cluster B disorders have more conflict with people? Or are they more likely to assume an argument is an attack? Genuine question.

Smotheroffive · 09/02/2019 16:45

I was in this discussion into the crazy surreal comments, wee small hours. Its still going on, and I haven't caught up, but the one day they put male fecundity ahead of the biologically designed to be fecund will be the craziest place the world has ever got to! Sadly, there are women who have posted here about their unresolved desperate cravings for a baby, so I absolutely do think its of huge insult to be proposing male child bearings/womb transplants as a louder demand than that of the women who actually were designed to do it and science still can't help them!

Never mind the appalling lack of ethical responsibility as the basis for making such a Frankensteinian statement.

(End of plop)

NotTerfNorCis · 09/02/2019 16:44

Just seen this thread. The idea of transplanting a womb into a man so he can fulfil his fantasy of being pregnant is HORRIFIC.

Datun · 09/02/2019 16:43

ShihTzup

datun quoting other posters to challenge their points only really works if you quote them properly. You lopped off the entire second half of a sentence to suit your angle.

Oh for goodness sake. It's not that I was leaving anything out, it's that you can call anything they did propaganda!

You go ahead and console yourself that they were relentlessly vilified, and still are by claiming it was because they got ahead of the NHS people, or it was a hot day, or what they said was offensive.

Because that doesn't make the people viciously targeting them look nuts at all.

The bottom line is that they were saying get the L out of the LGBT. They were saying that lesbians are being crushed by the transgender ideology. They were protesting at how lesbians are targeted for sex by men identifying as women.

Something that is prevalent in the trans ideology.

And obviously quite a few people were infuriated by lesbians standing up for themselves.

Including, it appears, you.

Crack on. As I said.

Disagreement is the most revealing thing of all.
