"Because once the medical community accept this as a treatment for cis-women with uterine infertility, such as congenital absence of a womb, then it would be illegal to deny a trans-female who has completed her transition.

"The most important step is the harvesting from the donor as great care is required to avoid damage to the arteries and veins supplying the uterus.
Trans females have a much narrower pelvis than cis-women of the same height, but there would still be room for them to carry a child.

“Supplemental hormones could be taken to replicate the changes that occur in the body when a woman is pregnant.

Because once the medical community accept this as a treatment for cis-women with uterine infertility

This just sounds really confused. Identity has absolutely nothing to do with male or female fertility.

The question is whether, if a uterus can be transplanted to a woman, it could also be transplanted to a man. Being cis or trans isn't relevant.

From a practical point of view, clearly fertility is far more complicated than just having a uterus, otherwise no women with a uterus would ever be infertile and nobody would ever have a miscarriage.

“Supplemental hormones could be taken to replicate the changes that occur in the body when a woman is pregnant."

It seems relevant that Christopher Inglefield's expertise is in gender reassignment and plastic surgery, not gynaecology or fertility.

another gatekeeper!

Thanks Oink. not the first time regular posters have been called for not being good enough feminists. Perhaps those pure of heart might be offered their own board, and leave us to discuss Women's Rights.

I actually met this surgeon in a social context a few years back. He seemed very normal and pleasant. It was only later that I made the connection.

FlyingOink · 10/02/2019 09:58

It's much more kind and more morally correct to be honest.
If you transition, be it socially, chemically or surgically, it will affect your life options. Like anything else you decide to do.

You're likely to find it difficult to find a partner, not because you're suddenly unlovable, but because most people prefer a male or a female without alteration.

You're likely to not be able to have kids if you are chemically or surgically altered. It could happen, so could that lottery win, and you don't organise your finances around it.

You're likely to be identifiable as trans. You may pass to some, or most people but it's very rare you will pass to all. Manage your expectations accordingly.

I cannot see how you can call yourself a feminist if you believe any of the above garbage. You can't- another gatekeeper! It's a public board, posting here shows an interest in feminist matters. I don't agree that there needs to be an entrance exam. Plus how can you change anyone's mind if you only talk to people who agree with you?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/02/2019 09:42

Its like when someone is diagnosed with a life threatening ailment. People say ‘there are medical advancements every day! You never know...’. I’ve never known anyone actually benefit.

nauticant · 10/02/2019 09:41

Yes R0wantrees, this is what I was going on about yesterday. This story is repeated to get into the minds of people the assumption that it's bound to happen at some point. Once people start believing that, they'll be more open to accept "since men can receive the relevant bits then there's no real difference between men and women". It doesn't matter that science is lagging far behind and might never catch up.

It's not about the science. It's a propaganda technique about changing people's perceptions.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 10/02/2019 09:33

The male child's belief that it might be possible for him to become pregnant remains.

This is how we have got where we are.

R0wantrees · 10/02/2019 09:24

Why though? It's not confusing if you explain.
You can accept transwomen and at the same time if they ask can say that it's not biologically possible for a biologically man's body to give birth to a baby.
It just can't happen. A biological female gives birth to babies, it's not just a matter of implanting a womb.

Within many transgender communities, the possibility has already been absorbed and is not being challenged.

Worth listening to R4's recent program about puberty blockers.
I was struck by the mother whose son is likely starting medical interventions, She described feeling it important to stress to her child that if he becomes becomes a transwoman, he would not be able to have a child. She talks about wanting to mak sure that he is aware of the limits of what is possible in transitioning gender.
The child replies that she can't know what medical technological advances will be possible. The mother agrees.
The male child's belief that it might be possible for him to become pregnant remains.

R4
Scientist Britt Wray talks to parents and doctors about the difficulties of weighing up the risks of taking – or not taking – hormone blockers in the face of so little scientific data. And how they navigate the responsibility of making these decisions with a child who is still below the legal age of informed consent

I see the daily mail is covering the shark twittering the one who can’t be named. Can’t link but you can google it... I hope she got her laptop back.

KitsandCaboodles

Yes you are quite correct, how weird that they don't include Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The figure is bound to be higher.
Still shows how Jazzbunny and their ilk continue to falsify statistics.

DodoPatrol · 10/02/2019 08:47

I remember the ear mouse well! Mixture of awe and faint nausea, frankly. It wasn’t a human ear - it was ear-shaped, but had no human cells in it and was created to test ways of scaffolding cartilage structures for medical replacement.

Certainly looked bizarre though.

OdeToDiazepam · 10/02/2019 08:37

Adrienne also commented on my thread on this board with some unhelpful comments

CosmicCanary · 10/02/2019 08:17

My post is based on the OP.

No no no, never, its disgusting and immoral.

It wont happen. Even if it becomes medically possible which I highly doubt, morally it will not be allowed.

The fact that it is males alluding to female reproductive organs being as simple as "plug in and play" disgusts me.
It shows how little they understand or care about female reproduction. We are viewed merely as spare parts so males can have what they want.
Anyone that tells me the trans ideology is not harmful to females is lying to themselves and attempting to gaslight me.

I will never accept transwomen as women or transmen as men. They are males and females who are trans end of.

ImFineThankYouSusan · 10/02/2019 08:03

I do wonder if JazzBunnys fight against 'incels' and '4chan' include the growing number of trans males in both communities? 🤔

Its confusing for children just to get to grips with the reality of where babies come from and why without throwing a load of nonsense in there with it. You can explain but it is beyond the understanding of most kids who, without going into the details of sex and whatnot should be guided by us not told they can be what they want, as kids we have an obligation to guide them to be what they as I'd put money on it loads of kids will for example want to be the same sex as their friends one week and think that's ok. Thats how kids minds work.

Of course its not possible for a biologically mans body to give birth because if it were they'd be female. We cant bring our kids up lying to them that the biology humanity is founded on can be altered based on someones subjective sense of what sex they 'feel' they are. By all means to be polite if around someone who is not wants to be called a she or a he but I will not lie and modify what I know is not true in a normal reality. Not withstanding it is plainly obvious in most cases that they are not indeed the sex they claim to be and cant help feeling they would be treated kinder by society without the encouragement to live out the delusion they sadly feel and suffering the ridicule because of it.

We should be treating the underlying cause. It isn't possible for them to be what they aren't and can never be normalised.

It is not very different from saying that we should agree with someone with a delusion that their microwave is a talking spacecraft and that we should help them by agreeing saying "yes we can hear everything you can its a fine craft you have there". We dont do this because it isn't helpful so we get these people help. Kids will always poke fun at people which is a sad fact that isn't going to go away by pedaling a delusion that may infact be making it worse.

I have no malice in this whatsoever i genuinely do wish people get the best help available but i can only feel this kind of misguided help is present due to a leftist government bringing about policies to win votes rather than assist people in need.

Transplanting ovaries into a male body should be outright illegal and is no different from when scientists have done stupid things in the past like grow human ears on the backs of mice.

Smotheroffive · 10/02/2019 02:13

He [Eddie] absolutely defended who he was and was wholly and utterly out about who he was, and derided the piss-taking men and bullies. He made it clear there were no confusions, for years! And now suddenly its all lies.

Well I just watched an excerpt of Louis Therouxs transkids. A little 5 yo boy, talking fluent genderspeak., one who has no idea of the first clue of what gender means! A horrible mismatch. No doubting his wishes to be a girl, but it was the speak of an adult or teen.

GlitterStick · 10/02/2019 01:42

I think we're going to have some very confused children in the years to come if we continue with all this nonsense.I cant imagine how awful it must be to be trans, but going on the way we are is only inflicting more problems on them and doing them a great disservice by ignoring the truth and pretending they are what they are not.

From Time Magazine's recent article 'Thousands of Women Are Born Without a Uterus. A New Procedure Offers Them Hope'
time.com/5492635/uterus-transplant-baby/

Once a woman in the trial has received the transplant, in a surgery that takes another five hours, she waits to recover and achieve menstruation, usually about four to six weeks later. If her transplant is successful, she can attempt in vitro fertilization (IVF) three to six months after the surgery. The women in the trial have functioning ovaries, but attaching them and fallopian tubes to the uterus would further complicate what is already a delicate process. Because implants can increase infection risk, and the drugs the women must take daily to prevent their immune systems from rejecting the new organ are potent, the transplants are removed at some point after the birth.

Just don't see how a TW with a womb implant could be pumped full of drugs to induce menstruation? Then more drugs to sustain a pregnancy in a male body. Stuff of science-fiction (thankfully).

It is a lie to pretend that women can be men and men can be women. A man is someone with the potential ability to create sperm and a woman is someone with the potential to create an egg every month. Every human on the planet fits into one of these two categories as its included in our genetic make up. The sooner we deal with this and stop pretending if we somehow all pretend people are how they 'feel' then somehow everything will be OK the better for everyone not least those worst affected.

You can't just stick a penis onto a woman and she magically becomes a man, what is wrong with people to think this will help anyone. Research shows this has had no effect on the suicide rate of trans people so clearly isn't the way forward.

GlitterStick · 10/02/2019 01:03

Maybe he did always feel that way but never felt able to say so properly before?

Datun · 10/02/2019 00:40

Oh yes, Eddie's a turncoat.

AssassinatedBeauty · 10/02/2019 00:20

Self id isn't law, but is what is being lobbied for by Stonewall and similar.

Eddie Izzard never used to talk about transgenderism, always described himself as a transvestite. But recently, has started describing himself as transgender and saying that he always was. He has this stupid schtick about having boy genes and girl genes, hence liking make up and high heels... it's sexist claptrap and he ought to know better.

Smotheroffive · 10/02/2019 00:08

He never used to say that. He s always talked about being a man though right?

Smotheroffive · 10/02/2019 00:04

But isn't self ID law?

Datun · 10/02/2019 00:02

I don't think Eddie has a GRC? Doesn't he/she keeps switching anyway? And says they have girls genes and boys genes.
