www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/transgender-women-should-entitled-womb-13972102

"Because once the medical community accept this as a treatment for cis-women with uterine infertility, such as congenital absence of a womb, then it would be illegal to deny a trans-female who has completed her transition.

"The most important step is the harvesting from the donor as great care is required to avoid damage to the arteries and veins supplying the uterus.
Trans females have a much narrower pelvis than cis-women of the same height, but there would still be room for them to carry a child.

“Supplemental hormones could be taken to replicate the changes that occur in the body when a woman is pregnant.

Males who are leaking fluid from their nipples also should run straight to their doctor to be examined for breast cancer (possibly also pituitary cancers or other hormonal anomalities). It is not something to cheer.

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 10/02/2019 20:13

WOMB not woman!

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 10/02/2019 20:12

I had a transwoman on Mumsnet tell me their infertility was more painful than mine because at least I had a woman.

This person had fathered children. FFS.

Smotheroffive · 10/02/2019 18:10

Something leaks, but what it is exactly there's no testingdone to know, and the reports of bf in that article was supported with formula, and was quite unspecific about amounts, certainly not enough to feed a newborn in a 24 hr period. Yes, the basic equipment is the same as prepubescent girls, as babies develop the same in the womb to a point where the development then deviates for a boy and genitalia develop from the clitoris and labia etc.

Smotheroffive · 10/02/2019 18:05

Its untested liquid, its not actually known whether it contains that life protecting colostrum or can adapt to babies needs, whether pre-term etc. Its drug manufactured (and a banned drug at that)

BettyDuMonde · 10/02/2019 17:58

Of course, that doesn’t mean that males using domperidone can actually sustain a human baby, just that male milk production has nothing to do with being trans or specific trans medicine.

BettyDuMonde · 10/02/2019 17:56

All adult male humans can theoretically produce breast milk as a side effect of gastric medication, domperidone.

Legend is that it was discovered to be useful as an off label drug to boost milk production in new mothers, when it was prescribed to sailors for seasickness and they were disembarking after months at sea with leaky nipples!

I forget where I heard that as it was back during my own breastfeeding struggles - probably via Analytical Armadillo or Kelly Mom, as they were my go-to sources at the time.

Smotheroffive · 10/02/2019 17:19

So, some liquid was produced, which has not been proven to be breast milk, and the baby was used a guinea pig to experiment with, whilst the mother and her breast milk were refused and blocked, which is now a crime under sex discrimination for women bf. Yet, its proclaimed to the world as bf! Worse still its believed as a miracle of science

MostlyBoastly · 10/02/2019 16:57

So many women out there that can’t conceive and transwomen want not one but two cracks of the whip with two different sex organs! Greedy much?

Smotheroffive · 10/02/2019 16:57

Thank you for the study link their R0wantrees this:

So it is clear that someone born male will be at an immediate disadvantage if they wish to breastfeed a baby

Again, just to highlight, it is actually the baby that is put at extreme disadvantage and higher risk. Ebf babies have better outcomes. Science cannot yet replicate breast milk and the way it adapts to babies needs. Saying the words of the 'act' of bf simplifies the complexity. Like just by putting a baby to a nipple its the same.

@CoachBombay I'd had a couple of drinks when I read this the other night and launched my phone over the other side of the room!! Angry

CoachBombay · 10/02/2019 15:54

I genuinely feel like I've had enough internet for today after that link...

I'm a mess as a biological female. I had underdeveloped breast and no mammary tissue of which on recommendation form the NHS paid for private breast augmentation. Half of my eggs are genetically incompatible with life, I have PCOS but luckily not many outward symptoms. My womb seems to have some sort of Teflon coating that even if I do manage to conceive a healthy baby it aborts at various gestations...and now people are trying to tell me how "lucky" I am.

I'm literally fuming (I'm Welsh, it's slang for angry) wanting to have bots added to you for a dream is not even close to the struggles of infertility. I was born with broken parts you just want extra ones!!! Arghh I genuinely think the Clomid has made me crazy this cycle! 😠

I find it makes me really quite cross when transwomen are described as infertile because they don't have a uterus and ovaries. They are not infertile, they don't have a female reproductive system which is entirely to be expected. They have a male reproductive system which may or may not be functioning depending on what treatment they may or may not have had.

R0wantrees · 10/02/2019 15:20

She didn't seem to feel there was an issue with gambling with life.

No especially a potential foetus or baby's life.
It seems to solely focus on validatiting a male transperson's desired identity and wishes.

See also the medically induced male chest feeding.

AssassinatedBeauty · 10/02/2019 15:16

The only time I've ever heard of it being attempted in a transwoman was with Lili Elbe in the 1930s, which obviously led to a rejection of the uterus and eventually death from infection.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 10/02/2019 15:11

Oh he’s very definitely nailing his colours to the mast. The more I think about it though, the crosser I get.

He is misleading vulnerable people and feeding their desire for an idealised, but largely unattainable aesthetic.

And yet the people who are questioning this are the transphobes.

CoachBombay · 10/02/2019 15:07

Well I've now entered a Clomid induced ragey mood about it...2 years of TTC still not there and now I have to put up with this shit....not today...

Fuck it, I'm in a mood now 😂

CoachBombay · 10/02/2019 15:04

Well she's of the belief this has already been done with another transwomans...I've yet to find any evidence of this.

Had a pop at me stating if I could never have my son, bet I'd see it differently. She soon shut up when I stated I had over ten miscarriages and carry a genetic disorder.

She didn't seem to feel there was an issue with gambling with life. I asked what would happen if the fetus died, where would the products go? She would require an entire abdominal surgery to remove the products of conception. Then what you have a womb that's already been cut open once before you've even carried a baby to term, and c section scars can cause issues in future pregnancies. She didn't see this as a problem.

Men really have no idea do they what it actually takes to grow and birth a baby. It's not as simple as get pregnant have baby, it really isn't.

I am actually quite angry about this but hopefully can use this space as somewhere to vent a little! Sorry.

AssassinatedBeauty · 10/02/2019 14:59

The thing is, I wonder if the reason why your friend can be so adamant that this is a human right and something they would go for if available, is because they know that it isn't possible and won't be possible in their lifetime. I doubt they'd ever admit it, but underneath it all they must know it.

CoachBombay · 10/02/2019 14:57

Oh ladies I've just had a bit of a heated discussion with a trans female friend over this 😳

She's my friend I support her in her journey, but for me the ethics behind this outweigh anyones hope and dreams. Ultimately you are gambling with human life and my moral compass said No.

She won't accept it but I've said my part.

R0wantrees · 10/02/2019 14:56

A uterus transplant isn’t an aesthetic procedure though is it?

I don't believe Mr Inglefield said anything about personally being involved in uterine implant surgery for male transpeople. He just decided to nail his colours to the mast make his opinion known.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 10/02/2019 14:38

That’s an interesting biography R0wantrees. His listed interests emphasise the cosmetic appearance of male to female surgery. Looking “feminine”.

A uterus transplant isn’t an aesthetic procedure though is it?

R0wantrees · 10/02/2019 12:51

Christopher Inglefield is a plastic & cosmetic surgeon, he's found a specific group of customers patients and is trying to position himself as the leading provider of services.

"Meet Mr. Christopher Inglefield - Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon
Mr. Christopher Inglefield BSc, MBBS, FRCS(Plast) was born in Trinidad, West Indies, and obtained his Medical Degree from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica and Trinidad in 1985. After attaining his Medical Degree he went on to complete his specialist surgical training in the UK passing the examinations for admission as a Fellow to the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1990.

Soon after he became passionate about plastic surgery, and after 6 years of developing his specialist skills and experience passed the intercollegiate specialist examination in Plastic Surgery and was awarded the FRCS(Plast) in 1997. ''gender confirmation', 'male chest reduction' 'gender reassignment', 'sex change' surgery etc are euphemistic

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 10/02/2019 11:11

It seems relevant that Christopher Inglefield's expertise is in gender reassignment and plastic surgery, not gynaecology or fertility.

His expertise would seem to be in making money by selling people fairy tales.

I have seen vulnerable people sold various expensive forms of snake oil over the years, to "cure" their terminal condition.

This is another version of the scam in my eyes, exploiting vulnerable people for profit. And I'd be willing to bet that Mr Inglefield doesn't actually believe it.
