Beating yourself up. You, Venice and Julia have conquered the market. No other ‘feminist’ has managed this. How amazing are you all. Posie, you have managed so much by presenting a truth that a women is an adult human female that is scientifically proven has scared everyone. How amazing are you.
I await my t shirt with this fact. I will not be able to wear it as I have a child/teen, nearly an adult who thinks they are female. Your t shirt will go into a drawer but I know it’s there reminding me, when I am questioning myself for not affirming my child’s thought, that my son can not be female.
Keep up your fight. Stop listening to others who are jealous of your basic campaign and who try to intellectualise it with academic talk, when the simple truth gets the job done.
Stand up for us parents. No one else is. Stand up for our daughters and for our sons too. The parents voice needs heard. Focus on this. It does not matter to parents where you are aligned politically. But you know this. Keep doing what you are doing and fight for me because I’m not brave enough to stand up

WeRiseUp and the work done by feminists risks being undone by someone like Posie. Sorry to say it but ‘spreading the message’ has little effect if people don’t take you seriously. She’s infamous now and she is damaging the cause enormously.

And as I pointed out before, Julie Bindel has managed to campaign tirelessly for women’s rights (not just a single issue) yet doesn’t speak at dodgy conferences or form alliances with pro-lifers.
If you want to change the law, telling the public that a woman is an adult human female won’t have much impact. The politicians know that full well but have to be seen to be right-on. Unless we get a UKIP government, the argument needs to be presented in a much more balanced and nuanced way and Posie Parker is unable to do this.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 11/02/2019 20:34

This is now the third time in a fortnight that I have seen people make serious allegations about Posie Parker and then failed to back them up.

This. As far as I'm concerned Posie, Venice and Julia speak for women like me, women who otherwise have very limited ways to get themselves heard. I am very thankful to them. They don't have the power of a university or other institution to give them credibility and opportunity to speak, so it's distressing to see those who do have such advantages take to twitter (of all places) to criticise, especially when the evidence for such criticism isn't there. There is a power imbalance as Lisa M pointed out on her thread the other night.

psychedelicleggings · 11/02/2019 20:32

@Funkyfunkybeat12 She keeps finding herself in these situations because she's the only one getting off her ass to do anything about this war on women's rights. That's what happens when you don't position yourself safely behind a computer screen writing 'blogs'.

Floisme · 11/02/2019 20:28

I'll say it again. I remember Rosa herself admitting before she left Twitter that it was a far left event.

I have huge admiration for Julie Bindel but I'm still not going down the road of 'JB's enemy must be my enemy too.' Not without evidence. Because that's a very dangerous path indeed.

FactsAreNotMean · 11/02/2019 20:28

I agree that it will be people like Rosa who are more likely to be asked around the table for political discussions, but as we've seen those discussions weren't happening - and they won't happen without popular pressure. You need your academics and your Posies, IMO.

exLtEveDallas · 11/02/2019 20:11

exLt is there any point at which you think she needs to take responsibility for who she associates with or is it basically limitless?

She wasn't 'associating' with a guy who took an unrequested selfie.

Also, the photo was on the internet for hours before Rosa retweeted it, together with Mr Racist’s pondering about the aryan race

Yep, on the Mot Dag / Venue FB, along with about 70 other photos.

There have been a load of feminists doing a fuck-tonne of hard work in Scotland and paving the way for Rosa Freedman to parachute in.

The point is also what people want the ultimate aim to be. Yes, PP might appeal to a certain sector of the population, but that is not going to bring about political or legal change, which is surely what people want? A rethink on self-ID and more protection for women etc? What is needed is someone who speaks that language, who can frame the debate in a reasonable way and persuade politicians to listen. Someone like Tommy Robinson has a large following but nobody right-minded would touch him with a barge-pole. You might think that the only thing that matters is that people hear a certain message. But it’s going to be people like Rosa, not Posie who will be invited to consultations and meetings with politicians. I mention the impact she made in Scotland which is absolutely tremendous. Dismiss that at your peril.

Watching with interest

Funkyfunkybeat12 · 11/02/2019 19:53

I don’t use terfblockers funnily enough and I am sure Rosa is banned by the vast majority of them. Even I am banned by some of them despite keeping my views under wraps on twitter.

Funkyfunkybeat12 · 11/02/2019 19:52

What that mean WeRiseUp? If you want to ask MNHQ, I am a long-standing poster and user of MN. I am not a troll or an MRA or whatever you wish to accuse me of. I am a feminist who disagrees with you.

WeRiseUp · 11/02/2019 19:51

Perhaps the tweet was only seen by people who use 'terfblockers' and Rosa Freedman.

WeRiseUp · 11/02/2019 19:49

My spidey senses are tingling.

Funkyfunkybeat12 · 11/02/2019 19:49

WeRiseUp I had seen the tweet hours before Rosa retweeted it. It was doing the rounds. Of course she doesn’t fucking follow a known holocaust denier. Are you for real?

CallMeWoman · 11/02/2019 19:48

Very good questions.

Funkyfunkybeat12 · 11/02/2019 19:47

exLt is there any point at which you think she needs to take responsibility for who she associates with or is it basically limitless? I genuinely don’t get the impression she cares- as long as her message is heard.

Rosa has been subject to a shit load of abuse and hostility and although Posie gets hate from randoms, it’s not the same as having colleagues and former friends tear you down in public. She has integrity and she has fought for human rights for ages. I can definitely understand why she reacted how she did and she is not the only one. Julie Bindel won’t share a platform with PP.

Also, the photo was on the internet for hours before Rosa retweeted it, together with Mr Racist’s pondering about the aryan race.

Oh and from FB, it looks like Alliansen was definitely involved in the organising of this event. The whole thing is not left-wing in terms of how it is understood in modern parlance. Very shady indeed and there must surely come a time when Posie needs to scrutinise where she speaks and who she mixes with. Or she can carry on as she does, but I don’t think it will have much sway with law makers. Rosa on the other hand caused a change in think when giving evidence to politicians in Scotland.

WeRiseUp · 11/02/2019 19:47

But what was Rosa Freedman doing looking at the twitter feed of the dude who got the self with Posie? Does she follow him? How did she see it? The first I heard or saw of it, she was the source. I actually like Posie and try to seek out what she's up to. How come someone who doesn't like her, was that on the ball to find his random tweet?

Floisme · 11/02/2019 19:42

Posie is no wallflower I agree and she gives as good as she gets. But Rosa Freedman's allegation was very serious - and they weren't the first she had made against her. Julie Bindel's allegation was also deeply unpleasant and, as far as I'm aware, unsubstantiated. I'm not on Facebook but I'm not susprised if Posie blew up at Freedman, just as i can understand Freedman's feelings about Holocaust denial.

WeRiseUp · 11/02/2019 19:40

Easy fucking peasy. Pick on vulnerable survivors. Make them paranoid. Wait until they start lashing out.

exLtEveDallas · 11/02/2019 19:39

If it were me who found out who I was posing with, I would make a quick statement saying I was sorry and had no idea etc

She did, she said straight away (and had it confirmed by two other women who were stood next to her at the time) that she had no idea who he was, he came over, stood next to her, took the selfie and walked off.

What else should she do?

Yes, she said Rosa 'knew the guy' - she did didn't she? Otherwise how would she know who he was, what political party he represented, how to search for his tweets and translate the Norwegian?

Coyoacan · 11/02/2019 19:38

Anyone else wondering if TRAs have been very astute in sowing trouble.

Dr Rosa Freedman says a TRA showed her something that led her to believe that GC women were going to doxx her and Jean Hatchet said that she would explain herself when she could do so without putting her family at risk.
