Just asking as I’m new to MN and appalled at the threads in here D:

I am (relatively) new here myself and I have noticed a pattern; there are quite a few threads like this one where the OP accuses people here of hatred and/or bigotry but then does not engage at all. Now then, if I think I am right about something then I want to put my case. Why won't trans advocates do this? (I think I know the answer) Why is it always #nodebate? Anyone would think that trans ideology won't stand up to scrutiny?

Anyway, as I said before, I've only been on here for a bit so please can someone point to a thread on here where one of the OPs DOES engage and can put a coherent case for trans people? Because if such a thread exists I haven't found it yet.

Thanks - not holding breath smiley.

More of a patient explanation to a pestering five year old.

BertrandRussell · 06/02/2019 10:07

I don’t hate trans people. If you see transphobia report it and it’ll be deleted.

Datun · 06/02/2019 10:07

I'm wondering why sixty-odd people feel the need to justify themselves to the world's goadiest OP.

Slow morning?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 06/02/2019 10:07

Yeah, a plopper

Rude

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 06/02/2019 10:04

Oh i know i said i dont hate anyone

And i dont

But i intensely dislike ploppers...

So intensely that it could be considered hate i suppose, its bloody close

Datun · 06/02/2019 09:54

Oh, I see the OP has plopped onto umpteen threads, to disagree and then bogged off.

Time waster.

Moominfan · 06/02/2019 09:54

I used to think the same op but spend some time hearing people's concerns and be open minded

FoxyLaRoxy · 06/02/2019 09:53

Hate is a strong word. I don’t hate anyone OP. I dislike TRA’s for their immature behaviour towards GC people (the actual violence, the abusive language, the lies, the attempts at control). I have every sympathy for someone with gender dysphoria, and feel that everyone should be able to break free from sex stereotypes that are put upon us. However, I will not be forced to lie because it might upset someone else’s feelings.

I am pro-woman, gender critical and I am fed up with the appropriation of my sex.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 06/02/2019 09:46

Hello again! Smile It's been a while since you last popped up to ignore all posts and actual discussion, and rant away at everyone

BlooperReel · 06/02/2019 09:45

I don't hate trans people, I don't think the vast majority of people on this forum do either.

I have masses of empathy for anyone suffering gender dysphoria, it must be soul destroying, and they deserve help to either overcome it or adjust their lives so it is bearable.

However, what I don't believe, and will not be cajoled, scolded, coerced or bullied into believing, is that human beings can literally change sex, or that there are 'pink' or 'blue' brains/souls/inner essence.

I also do not believe it is fair, just, or right, that anybody can self ID their way into another sex class.

Datun · 06/02/2019 09:45

As a lesbian I object to my identity being coopted by mostly straight women to make an argument so vehemently opposed to human empathy and understanding.

Well that sentence could be about a man, with a penis, objecting to people with vaginas who sleep with other people with vaginas.

If you can't define lesbian, woman, or straight, you've got a problem.

MagicMix · 06/02/2019 09:45

Just a link for any readers who may be taken in by the 'trans rights are the new gay rights' bullshit posted above.

janeclarejones.com/2018/09/09/gay-rights-and-trans-rights-a-compare-and-contrast/

I don't hate trans people but I do strongly dislike it when people attempt to erase my rights and the recognition of my sex class as a distinct group of people.

NightmareDaemon · 06/02/2019 09:42

No hate here. I agree with Soubriquet

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 06/02/2019 09:42

www.mumsnet.com/info/trans-rights-moderation-policy

Someone compared the debate which happens on here with two sides arguing about religion in that it is highly unlikely one side will ever convert the other to their way of thinking. It is an emotive issue with feelings versus facts.
Live and let live is what many on here would adhere to....but when one group's rights will erode another's, that stance becomes problematic -
I am not against legislation that would make someone's life easier but when that same legislation allows abuse of the system overall, it is fair to question it.

ClosdesMouches · 06/02/2019 09:37

I don't hate trans people.
Pretty much what Sonic said, actually.

RiverTam · 06/02/2019 09:37

Get = hate

RiverTam · 06/02/2019 09:36

I don't get trans people.

Not keen on liars, though. Or goady fuckers.

Badstyley · 06/02/2019 09:36

OP hasn’t been back. They accuse everyone of hate, then don’t stick around to discuss. Well well well.

RedemptiveCrocodile · 06/02/2019 09:35

I've been accosted in the street by a transperson, who clearly wanted to start a heated argument with me. No hate, I attempted to talk reasonably but there was no interest, just anger. Towards me.

I don't hate anyone.

Hth.

Soubriquet · 06/02/2019 09:35

I don’t hate trans people

I do hate children being encouraged to take hormone drugs because they feel like they should be the opposite sex, and then having surgery. I hate that by doing this they are effectively being sterilised

I hate that women’s rights are being eroded as apparently trans women deserve more privacy and right to life than women do

I hate that lesbians now are being referred to as transphobic because they refuse to have sex with a “lady dick”

I hate that a trans woman can get a woman kicked out of a women’s shelter because they don’t want to share a room with a “woman with a penis”

I hate women are being pushed out of the sporting world because trans women are taking over

I hate that women are no longer safe in bathrooms, doctors surgery’s, rape clinics, hospitals, gyms or anywhere exclusively female, as “women” with a penis now have full right to attend.

I don’t hate trans people. I hate what is currently going on.

ChattyLion · 06/02/2019 09:34

‘Mostly straight women’ Hmm
how has this been calculated as a proportion of FWR posters?

Or did you mean women who are ‘not straight all the time’ Grin

Asking for a friend.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 06/02/2019 09:33

I don't hate transpeople. I feel huge sympathy for people with gender dysphoria.

I don't hate men either.

I am not much of a fan of people who try to remove the rights and protections of women and girls though.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 06/02/2019 09:28

No hate here*. In fact I still actively sign petitions and so on for trans people to be given equal rights and not discriminated against. (Not being wrongly imprisoned for example, as in one case in the US, and not being discriminated against in employment and similar, except for the minimal and reasonable legal exceptions that exist to protect women and girls - and which are anyway based on sex, not trans status). But "equal" rights does not mean "whatever you want", and it does not mean other people should have to give up their rights. Everyone has the right to safe spaces, for example, but nobody has the right to demand access to the safe spaces of other protected groups when that will reduce the safety of those groups.

In fact one of the things that made me most concerned about the ideology was concern for a young person I know (slightly) who is transitioning currently, but who appears to be extremely vulnerable and I am very worried that this is only going to make things worse for them ultimately, not better.

However, I cannot and will not stand for women's and girls' rights being trampled in the way that the transactivist ideology is demanding, nor for people being forced to agree with and base policies on claims that are basically not true.

*Actually I reserve the right to a bit of hate for the likes of Karen White, Hambrook etc. But that has nothing to do with them being trans, it's all about the "being a scummy rapist" thing.
