Just asking as I’m new to MN and appalled at the threads in here D:

OP posts:

Maria Miller can join Ruth and Susie in the spotlight. Uber feminist Lynne Featherstone too

Needmoresleep · 06/02/2019 15:46

Hmm. Waves at OP.

I tend not to hate people, and indeed through this process have come to admire honest people with different backgrounds and views to myself...including some transgender people.

When this is all over and the recriminations, from those whose bodies have been mutilated, start, the two people I would most like to see held to account are Ruth Hunt and Susie Green. Both women.

I am not sure. Is that because this is what women do to each other. Or simply because they should I feel they should know better.

You're forgiven just

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 06/02/2019 15:35

Don’t worry Justkeepswiming I thought your post was very informative

Lacypants · 06/02/2019 15:35

I don't hate transpeople. Much like I don't hate my grandad, but I don't want to share a communal changing room with him.

Justkeepswimmming · 06/02/2019 15:33

Oops 😬 sorry..

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 06/02/2019 15:32

LangCleg · 06/02/2019 15:25

Why is this thread being TAATed?

Justkeepswimmming · 06/02/2019 15:21

Funky (sorry don’t know how to bold.. just delurking slowly!)
At my children’s school even day pupils have a bed and a desk in a dorm with up to 4 others. They do their prep in there and spend a lot of downtime during the day in there. They keep all their kit in their dorm and get changed for games/put jamas on before prep etc in there. I know the trans child may go elsewhere to change.. but what about the girls? Should they then have to go elsewhere to change if they feel uncomfortable with a trans girl who was only last term a boy? What if they are caught short with their period and have to run back to the dorm to get tampons? Just thought it was worth noting. I feel desperately sorry for this trans girl - it’s a terrible situation for them to be in. Not the other girls’ problem though.

Funkyfunkybeat12 · 06/02/2019 14:56

Justkeepswimming rubbish. The mother did not know that the child was a boarder. The not wanting to be in the same house was separate from not wanting to share facilities. She even wanted a guarantee that this kid didn’t get any drama roles. When you’re sticking up for shit like that it’s time to look in the mirror. She said she didn’t know whether the kid boarded but did not want her daughter in the same house. Disgrace.

ScrambledSmegs · 06/02/2019 14:47

I don't hate trans people.

What I do hate is people who start threads and then never bother coming back to them.

Justkeepswimmming · 06/02/2019 14:47

Funky
The ‘house’ in question was a boarding house so safeguarding concerns were legitimate.

Bittermints · 06/02/2019 14:47

The only way to believe that trans women are women and trans men are men in spite of the biological reality is to believe in gendered souls and also to believe that gender stereotypes are somehow set in stone and therefore have some validity. I don't believe in the existence of souls, full stop, so why would I believe in a gendered one? I think gender stereotypes are harmful and I certainly don't think they have any validity (hence the fact that there are different stereotypes at different times and in different cultures). I feel desperately sorry for anyone experiencing dysphoria, for whatever reason. I feel extreme impatience with certain kinds of attention-seeking behaviour, whatever form it takes and whatever the underlying reason, and I feel considerable apprehension about the loss of some sex-based rights. None of this adds up to hating trans people.

FeministCat · 06/02/2019 14:46

I don’t hate trans people. Not at all. I hate the practice of encouraging adopting transwomen as “women”, the erasing of the recognition of women and of their rights and spaces, of the misogyny propagated by enforcing gender roles that is rife in the transgender movement, reducing the idea of women go caricatures, and the outright bullying and encouragement of violence against women who are asking for caution to be exercised in transing children, in fighting to preserve their spaces, and so on.

Candace19 · 06/02/2019 14:45

I don't hate anyone unless you're a knob then I still won't hate you but I'll seriously dislike you hahaha

No wait I hate Donald Trump but other than that surely in 2019 we should have more tolerance for people regardless of whether they're big / fat / tall / small / black / white / gay / straight / tattoo'd / smoke / drink / old / young and any other characteristics that makes us who we each are /choose to present as.

We each have a right to think what we like but openly discriminating against any particular group of people is wrong. Life is hard enough without facing prejudice from people. Fine if you don't / won't understand personal preferences but just keep your mouth zipped.

Two current threads which are typical of the kind of thing posters on this feminist chat board are concerned about. Both are extremely upsetting and shocking to read about. Both have been dealt with appallingly. Women and children so often don't even get the justice they deserve let alone the safety. Both of the perpetrators, like over 90% of all sexual offenders, have penises, were born with penises, ergo are male.

OVER 90% OF SEXUAL CRIMES. Why would anyone be so committed to stopping women naming the pattern of male crime offending?

PositivelyPERF · 06/02/2019 14:42

Yep we still have biscuits and if positively can beat her way to the front of the crowd she can join as well

On my way.

Anyone here not hate trans people?
HollowTalk · 06/02/2019 14:40

I think that trans women are women

Do you mean you think they ARE women or they should be treated as if they are women?

I certainly don't. I think it's a really difficult issue though, it's important to make as many people as possible feel as safe as possible, including minorities and non minorities. I have no idea what the answers are though!

Funkyfunkybeat12 · 06/02/2019 14:38

Please provide an actual, specific example of hate towards trans people.

How about the mother who didn't want her daughter to be in the same school-house as a trans child? How is that anything other than fear/dislike? Not that she didn't want her daughter to be in the same changing room as the child, but genuinely didn't want her to be part of the same house. Not safeguarding- prejudice.

I am gender critical, but fucking hell, anyone saying there is NO transphobia on here is kidding themselves.

PositivelyPERF · 06/02/2019 14:35

I think that trans women are women

How does that work, then? How are they women?

User383673 · 06/02/2019 14:27

ME! I think that trans women are women and wholly pro-trans. I find the trans threads on MN very hard to deal with so have learned not to engage. It’s hard though!
