With self ID does this mean we can finally free the nipple?

Just thinking that walking around with our baps out should now be fine if we temporarily self Id as men... or on social media... I’m sure there’s a protest idea here somewhere I mean this isn’t what they expected is it? A load of free nipples 😂 ..help?

Have to be canny with any protests though - from what I read above, Man Friday carried out their protest at the Hampstead Male Swimming area and thus didn't leave themselves open to accusations of having done it in front of kids, which would have been the case if they'd done it at a public baths or the beach (I'm assuming that this pond is for hard-core swimmers rather than a bunch of shocked six year olds).

You can if you id as non-binary too, I know of someone on Instagram who does this, and they let her have her nipples out, they had previously deleted her topless pics before she told them she IDs as non-binary

NothingOnTellyAgain · 06/02/2019 21:05

I'm not keen on the free the nip stuff

I see the point and where they are coming from

But it's putting the cart before the horse, I think.

You don't often see older women joining in with it, I don't think, which is telling.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 06/02/2019 21:04

I find it v funny when in response to women complaining about the avalanche of images of women / girls even skimpily dressed / semi naked / sexualised all over the place to sell everything you can think of (although I genuinely think things have got a better in UK over last 20/30 years)

Some men say OH but womens bodies are objectively nicer to look at

They genuinely think that gay men and het women prefer looking at attractive women to attractive men...!
OR usually they have never thought about it at all, so used as they are to everything pandering to het male gaze
They honestly believe that because this is what they like to look at most, it is univeral..
There's some actual privilege for you Smile

NothingOnTellyAgain · 06/02/2019 20:59

Because most of it is made by men for men?

DoughnutCowboy · 06/02/2019 20:49

Similarly, I wonder if we may now be able to 'free the todger' 😂. I've never understood why full male nudity is seen as so offensive by the media/film industry whilst female nudity is seen as sensual.

userschmoozer · 05/02/2019 21:18

I think I might have to photoshop something ridiculous like a double row of nips on my stomach and post it to see what happens Grin

OdeToDiazepam · 05/02/2019 21:13

Urinals that meant to say!

OdeToDiazepam · 05/02/2019 21:13

This is such a good idea! Grin don't forget the ban the urinalysis campaign too, as they might invalidate our identity as 'men'

DollySparks · 05/02/2019 21:00

This really highlights the lunacy and the bias against women doesn’t it

This is insane! I was half joking but that’s shocked me that they have stuck to this double standard ... could a mass putting up of nip pics show this up? Or something of the like?

Sorry | know you said that

BUT the penis = yay tits = no thing is pretty fucking stark.

Breasts aren't even a primary sexual characteristic. Tits and cock are not on the same playing field, as it were.

Subtext. Women's bodies are more shocking. more in need of coverage. more outrageous to the public eye than mens. Which of course is true (misogyny) - but did swim england who claim to want to encourage girls really need to reiterate it.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 05/02/2019 20:07

"IIRC, when Swim England introduced new guidelines for sports centres saying that women who objected to transwomen using the women's facilities should be "re-educated", they said that transwomen can wear women's swimwear, but that transmen must keep their breasts covered.

ManFriday's actions caused SwimEngland to retract the new guidelines. I don't know what current guidelines say."

Not only that

They said

Dick in the womens changing was fine
Tits in the pool were not

Massive double standard.

I didn't see that they had changed the guidleines, it was being updated fro aggggeees..

Do they no longer say that girls who are concerned about naked bodies with dicky-doo-dahs in the changing rooms should be "re-educated"? That was particularly good.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 05/02/2019 20:05

No, womens ladyparts are transphobic and exclusionary must never be mentioned let alone seen.

userschmoozer · 05/02/2019 20:01

I have vague recollection of Fabook deleting a topless post, then reinstating it when it was claimed the photo was of a pre op trans man.

MillytantForceit · 05/02/2019 19:58

I think some post-mastectomy women have been told they can't swim without a top on.

NeurotrashWarrior · 05/02/2019 19:45

I think I have already.

I keep fucking forgetting to put mine back in after bf.

There's going to a a serious delivery person accidental free boob soon.

HavelockVetinari · 05/02/2019 19:15

*too

HavelockVetinari · 05/02/2019 19:15

Yes, us Man Fridays chaps had a good time self-IDing as men and freeing our nipples! It did result in police being called to Hampstead Men's Pond though, apparently female breasts are far to terrifying to be unleashed on the general public, even if they're self-identifying as male... Hmm

JellySlice · 05/02/2019 19:11

Is it any surprise?

DollySparks · 05/02/2019 17:36

So what they discovered then is that it doesn’t work both ways?

misscockerspaniel · 05/02/2019 17:24

Can I wait until the summer, please Grin

DollySparks · 05/02/2019 17:23

Ah and I thought I’d come up with the idea 😂

Man Friday have hung up their flowery swimming caps, but the website with all their blog posts is still there: manfridayuk.org/
