Cosmopolitan - Bleeding after anal sex

""It's not unexpected that [anal sex] would cause bleeding." Does that mean you should never put anything up your butt hole? No! It just means you need to take some extra precautions, like, say, a little thing called a shit-ton of lube"

"It's not a sprint, it's a marathon back there. And you want to make to the finish line without any bleeding or discomfort."

In our grandmothers day rape within marriage was legal
There was little or no recourse around DV
Divorce was taboo

etc

I think we would very much be horrified at some of the things that they could tell.

Interesting.

Men got what they wanted with no recourse in our grandmothers day
Blip 80s-2010s maybe where we had contraception, rape was definitely bad, general trust in police in looking into stuff about abuse of women and girls
Now back to square 1
Men get what they want with little recourse> the method has changed teh result is the same. It's become obvious that actually the authorities aren' as interested in rape dv csa etc as we had hoped and assumed

Shame.

It's like writing an article about skydiving and focusing purely on how to make sure your harness isn't too tight to feel comfortable and whether or not it makes a difference that someone jeered at you and threatened to shove you out of the plane if you wouldn't jump.

FlyingOink · 04/02/2019 13:26

I don't think a bunch of middle aged women ...
You're running out of ammo...click-click-click
Best fix the bayonet in place and hope for the best

Seriously, if you can't contribute to the actual point of the thread, why waste your time? You've not wound anyone up, changed anyone's mind or contributed something humanity will thank you for.

There's a difference in sexual behaviour due to porn. There are articles and studies on it, there is plenty of anecdotal evidence too.
It's reasonable to state that m/f sexual relations were less combative prior to society being soaked in 24/7 Gonzo.
It's reasonable to suggest that girls should be told of the health risks or anal sex, and that it is always optional.
I don't get what your issue is with any of this?

AngryAttackKittens · 04/02/2019 13:25

My mother was not a virgin when she got married, and very much enjoyed hearing about my youthful exploits. Was this because she was a time traveler?

NothingOnTellyAgain · 04/02/2019 13:24

Maybe off topic though.

I don't think writing articles aimed at a youngish demographic about anal sex and saying

bleeding is normal
no mention stds
only mention condoms related to making it easier (lube)
no mention consent / don't have to / not for everyone

is any good at all
especially in a climate where men and boys are gettign ever longer ticklists and women and girls are under more pressure than ever to "perform"

AngryAttackKittens · 04/02/2019 13:23

Some of us actually talk to young women about their relationships and listen to the things they complain about, which is why we're worried.

(Shuffles off, leaning heavily on my walker because I'm so old, you see, and that's why my opinion doesn't matter.)

NothingOnTellyAgain · 04/02/2019 13:22

I don't like to think I fawn

But probably nobody likes to think that and there they are fawning for england

One observation

Men can aften react quite aggressively towards good looking women, thinking they are "up themselves" and need "putting in their place" etc. This is prob one of the reasons for porn displaying attractive women being (often, essentially) brutalised.

ElonMask · 04/02/2019 13:21

There is a tendency for everyone to look back on their youth with rose tinted specs. Your grandmothers generation would be shocked and appalled at the antics you (and I) got up to. Horrified. My mother was a virgin when she got married, I remember the toe curling embarrassment I experienced when she told me that aged 16. Now we assume that it's all gone to hell in a handcart the same as most other generations do. It may be a different landscape but I don't think a bunch of middle aged women saying all sex articles should come with yellow warnings, and it was great it my day, is going to make anything better.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 04/02/2019 13:21

here's an article from psychology today about how people react to others who are very attractive

www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/habits-not-hacks/201412/the-surprising-power-beautiful-face

not exactly news?

AngryAttackKittens · 04/02/2019 13:20

IMMEDIATELY!

Or, you know, whenever you get round to it, because I'm patient.

Halo
NothingOnTellyAgain · 04/02/2019 13:20

Oh shit a y/n has been issued

Rigth thread

everyone needs to respond immediately

FlyingOink · 04/02/2019 13:19

how do you feel when you pull an unattractive women
I wouldn't pull someone I wasn't attracted to, so if I change your question to how I feel if I pull an average looking woman - pretty excited. If we've got to that stage it's because we like each other and there's something there. Does that mean that all circumstances and personalities being equal, I'd pick the average woman over the beautiful woman? No I wouldn't, and if that makes me shallow so be it.
Mind you, what I consider beautiful might be different to what others think. I don't find young women particularly attractive so anyone under 30 would not float my boat at all. The beauty "standard" would be young, beautiful, long blonde hair etc (and that doesn't attract me.)
This isn't my personal blog so I'll leave it there, but yes, I would be more excited and more grateful to have sex with someone who I found particularly attractive. I think that's normal.

AngryAttackKittens · 04/02/2019 13:19

But seriously, the reason I would assume that men would be extra delighted to have pulled someone gorgeous is because I always was. Have we somehow decided that men are less shallow than women now? Because, um, good luck making that argument.

AngryAttackKittens · 04/02/2019 13:18

Well, yeah, I didn't say he was particularly bright.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 04/02/2019 13:17

AAK

After he actually read it lol

And then said it could be shortened just say bleeding after sex was a no-no
Completely missing that the whole point of the article was that bleeding after sex was fine

Grin
AngryAttackKittens · 04/02/2019 13:17

I will respond, though. I definitely fawn over beautiful men. Is this allowed y/n? Because back in the day (married now) it definitely made a difference in how excited I was to have pulled that particular person.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 04/02/2019 13:16

"The incels and etc are the ones complaining that all the women go after the same few guys I thought ? Women certainly fawn over specific and beautiful so than men do."

You believe the incels have a point?
Is how that reads to me.

Again, interesting.

AngryAttackKittens · 04/02/2019 13:15

Even the splainey bloke eventually admitted that the article is bad...

NothingOnTellyAgain · 04/02/2019 13:15

"Women certainly fawn over specific and beautiful so than men do."

Really?

You think women fawn over beautiful men more than vice versa?

Interesting.

That's not a question or an opinion by the way no need for everyone on the thread to respond.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 04/02/2019 13:14

OK so you are fine with this article.

Lots of us are not.

Glad we have got that sorted out.

ElonMask · 04/02/2019 13:12

Most young women are attractive, I agree, but that's not typically how they see it when they compare themselves to the impossible ideals of today's Instagram world. Saying that your attractiveness has a bearing on how grateful your partner is to be having sex with you, isn't good but you disagree obviously.

Flying how do you feel when you pull an unattractive women ?

The incels and etc are the ones complaining that all the women go after the same few guys I thought ? Women certainly fawn over specific and beautiful so than men do.

I didn't say you couldn't be grateful for or appreciate your partner, as I've explained several times now.

I already answered the questions, I don't think all articles about sex should come with warnings attached about all the things that can go wrong.

AngryAttackKittens · 04/02/2019 13:09

You know the weirdest thing about porn for me? Nobody ever kisses. Now I'm pretty orally fixated (handy for a lesbian I guess) but I can't imagine having sex with anyone without kissing them.

Again, it's all a bit grim and dehumanized. Which for some young men seems to be a large part of the appeal, which is not unconnected to the porn they grew up watching. A feedback loop of grimness.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 04/02/2019 13:08

Can't believe my / his / her luck

Is quite standard when it comes to pulling, I think?

The idea that men shoudl NOT feel lucky when they pull a pretty girl (and vice versa) is odd. this is very much mainstream thinking.

Why I am responsible for the behviour of a bunch of men 20 years ago is confusing though.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 04/02/2019 13:07

Ah
Interesting point here

You know where you will see kissing as quite standard in porn?
Gay porn (mainstream variety)

The diference is stark
If there was any evidence required that het porn is dehumanising of the women, and more about violation / degradtion than anything else
The difference in mainstream porn between the way poeple are treated is one of the things that makes it clear

Mainstream het porn is deeply misogynistic.

FlyingOink · 04/02/2019 13:06

haven't most people had a moment where some new person takes their clothes off and your first thought is...
I would call that gratitude but maybe other people would describe it as excitement.

Either way it's appreciative.
