Cosmopolitan - Bleeding after anal sex

""It's not unexpected that [anal sex] would cause bleeding." Does that mean you should never put anything up your butt hole? No! It just means you need to take some extra precautions, like, say, a little thing called a shit-ton of lube"

"It's not a sprint, it's a marathon back there. And you want to make to the finish line without any bleeding or discomfort."

Agree with men seeing the Pill as consequence free sex for THEM.

I did have a couple who saw me being on the Pill as an excuse to try and dodge condom use.

they got told NO

Datun · 06/02/2019 18:25

Again, not sure why people waxing lyrical about their sex life seems like a good reaction to an article normalising a niche practice that most women don't want with the recommendation about how long it's safe to bleed for.

AliceToo · 06/02/2019 17:16

littlbrowndog

Ffs
Tears bleeding such fun
When did that become the definition of fun sex

Love it myself but if you bleed afterwards your doing it wrong. Lots of lube a considerate lover and you're in heaven. No need to worry about contraception either.

:-)

The irony , the introduction of the pill was to liberate women

women saw the pill as liberating them from the risk of unwanted pregnancies.
men saw the pill as making women available for sex on demand.

justasking111 · 06/02/2019 13:33

How many men are getting advice as to how their female partners can provide anal sex for them I wonder?

Oldermum156 · 06/02/2019 13:25

Anal sex has been presented as normal and acceptable to young women for about a decade now. You are an uncool prude if you don't do it. If it hurts you are doing it wrong. Try it a different way. Relax. Use more lube. Tell him to try this, try that. Never are you told "just tell him no!"

Jeanhatchet · 06/02/2019 08:52

I remember when Teen Vogue tried to sell similar to young women last year. They also forgot to detail the picture they used with a clitoris.

Sheelala · 06/02/2019 07:25

It did for a while anyway but I agree with the general point that sex in our society has been almost utterly divorced from its biological purpose...it is something to think about who really benefits.

Jenala · 05/02/2019 20:57

justasking111 I'm sorry to miss the point but are you saying your OH doesn't give you oral sex and you "tried" a bj?
As in tried once and he's never done it to you?

NothingOnTellyAgain · 05/02/2019 20:25

pachyderms list

all the people who say i watch porn it's fine what's wrong with it

they know what is common, they assume that people who don't like porn don't

however, we do

pornhb or redtbe or one of them, when I looked had loads of ones all over the front page where the women were (looked) unconscious
Stuff obviously filmed unprofessionally
Advocates would say how do you know it's real
Users could put anything up
I would put my money on most of it beign real for sure
They wanted a round a applause for taking thsi shit off a few years ago. And they got it! Videos of probable actual rape of unconsious women

It's a big nope to the whole thing from me even the "ethical" stuff. I have no objection in principle but in a sexist racist world it's impossible and so nope.

Badstyley · 05/02/2019 20:16

Wow, this thread... Who would’ve thought the idea of educational material in a sex ed piece could be so enraging? Honestly MN should start advertising Kleenex. Some posters must get through an awful lot, which can only be good news for women.

justasking111 · 05/02/2019 18:55

I remember the Joy of Sex, going into WH Smith to buy it. We had so much fun with it. OH enjoyed a BJ but no way would he return the favour he just did not feel comfortable with it. We fumbled, bumbled our way around sometimes collapsing with laughter at some of the more acrobatic positions.

Articles like the one the OP posted imo. rob you of the fun of it all.

Just seen this tweet about a future article which is being written for Cosmo.

hi all, I'm looking to speak with female teachers who've been sexually harassed by students (be it name-calling, being filmed without consent etc.) for a @CosmopolitanUK feature. all retweets appreciated and my DMs are open if anyone would like to get in touch. thank you

OlennasWimple · 05/02/2019 17:32

Our TV provider doesn't hide the porn channels away at the end of the list, they are right in the middle. So you can flick through the cooking shows, past the home improvement shows, into the porn, and then onto the sports section and kids channels. I suppose it's a blessing that they aren't directly next to the kids channels, especially with titles like

"She doesn't know she's being watched"

"Cheerleader virgin slut"

"Bored sexy momma takes it up the ass"

"Teen girls sleepover"

^^ That is what is available for my viewing pleasure right now

Hmm

There was also a "Don't Date Men who Watch Porn" group on Facebook - but apparently they were banned. God knows why - obviously not sufficiently deferential to the whims of the penis.

ToeToToe · 05/02/2019 17:17

I have done exactly that in the past, pachyderm - in fact for a previous thread about porn on here.

From googling 'porn' I found I was two clicks of the mouse from videos called "teen abuse" and other unsavoury titles. It's like they're constantly pushing the boundaries, constantly escalating.

This sort of content is blocked on the network my dc use at home - but I'm sure they must have seen it at school/away from home at some point. I have talked to them about porn, and respect for women, and so has DH.

pachyderm · 05/02/2019 16:50

Okay. I've clicked on Pornhub so you don't have to. Front page.

Mom is the neighbourhood whore

No, please stop! Extremely painful anal creampie f*d against her will.

Her first time! 19 year old virgin

Lots of creepy vids with stepdads and stepbrothers

It really is grim. And not the joy of sex at all, I don't care what you say.

pachyderm · 05/02/2019 16:43

Starlightlady the Joy of Sex had chapters on most things, I never said it didn't. But there is a sense of joy and honest fun to it that I don't get from the front page of any mainstream porn site, where women are described routinely as "cum guzzling sluts" or "bitches" being "drilled" and "destroyed".

I think some people on this thread are really invested in missing the point.

otheractivities · 05/02/2019 15:56

The irony , the introduction of the pill was to liberate women
The result is young girls no longer have the 'excuse' not to be pressurised into sex
I once saw a programme presented by Anna Richardson , where she was in a school discussing sex with ( hopefully of age ) school kids , it soon became apparent that the boys were keen watchers of porn and had unrealistic expectations of women . The girls felt that had to be shaved as this is what the boys wanted as this is what they saw in the porn they watched .This is just a mild example of how girls / women still feel they have to keep the boy / man happy if they want to keep them
I know someone is going to come back and say they enjoy x,y or z yaddah yaddah yaddah

But we need to be teaching our daughters its ok to say no , its ok to be who you are and look how you want
We should also be teaching our sons that porn isnt real life ( nor should it be )

BlindYeo · 05/02/2019 15:08

Well I just don't recall my female compatriots sighing wistfully in the past "you just can't get the chaps to do anal, can you? I'd really like some but they never suggest it. It would be fun, wouldn't it?"

Sheelala · 05/02/2019 15:07

Gee sorry everyone, new here also posted a message on the wrong thread above.

PBo83

I was talking in general about "extreme" stuff that is being normalised. If men enjoy it because the women appear to enjoy it then at least there is a positive there. If they enjoy it because the women is in obvious distress or pain then that is even more depressing. But agree about the general message.

StarlightLady · 05/02/2019 15:04

Ah! But the Joy of Sex had a section on, you guessed it, anal. With a detailed description of how to!

It also spoke of the wonders of “hand and mouth work”.

BlindYeo · 05/02/2019 15:00

The question I don't want to ask is: which type of sex do the majority of men actually prefer?

The kind where the woman enjoys it?
Or the kind when the woman is hurt and degraded?

Because there seems to be a huge market and demand for the latter which didn't spring up in a vaccuum. It's come from men's brains, hasn't it?

I can't spell vacuum. Vaccum. Vaacccuuum. Fuck it.

BlindYeo · 05/02/2019 14:55

The Joy of Sex. What a good point. A bit before my time but yes how on earth does that compare with what's on the menu now? I haven't actually read it but perhaps it should be re-issued and handed out in PSHE with the gobsmackingly obvious advice for young men: try giving women pleasure not pain.
