School girls gaslit en masse after encountering 'naked man' in swimming pool shower

The girls found a naked man in the women's shower, which they objected to, describing him as a 'predator'.

The police investigated and said that actually, sorry girls, he's not a man, she's a woman, so STFU, basically.

eu.desertsun.com/story/news/2019/01/24/pool-getting-unisex-shower-formal-policy-after-teens-encounter-trans-woman/2670287002/

It does beg the question of what is the appropriate response when a girl finds a naked man in the changing room, as there doesn't seem to be any possible way to distinguish a 'naked man' from a 'transwoman', nor indeed whether it is safe to be around that person's penis (common sense and practice for basically the entire world's population except those gaslit by TRAs says 'no')

Did you read the whole article @timeisnotaline? Near the end it says:

Then on Dec. 26, 2018, police responded to the Palm Springs Swim Center after the coaches of a high school girls’ water polo team called police. According to the incident report, one of the coaches said he aggressively confronted Merager after the school girls alerted him that Merager had exposed their penis in the women’s changing room.

“Merager advised he was only showering and did not masturbate or touch himself inappropriately,” reads the police report. “He said that he would defend himself if he is threatened. He said he needs to swim to do his physical therapy.”

Dec 26 2018 is the date of the incident in the OP. It's unlikely that there were two similar incidents on the same day at the same place, so this seems to be referring to the same incident.

The West Hollywood incident seems to be more recent (the article doesn't say it was in 2018), since he was due in court on Sept 8 of this year on charges of indecent exposure, so that's unlikely to be about an incident from 2018 (for which it seems he was not charged). He's a serial offender. He has exposed himself on a number of occasions in a number of places.

I'm seriously trying very hard to find it but can't remember which bloody group I saw it in. Still looking!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 18/09/2021 12:15

It was a Twitter post, I believe.

allmywhat · 18/09/2021 12:12

@ThumbWitchesAbroad

no, that was genuinely what the TW posted.
Are TRAs writing about “gender euphoria” in public groups now? Or was this reposted content from a trans space?

Just curious. From what I’ve seen they don’t discuss “gender euphoria” in public spaces where people “might not understand” (or, worse, might understand perfectly.) But there’s always someone pushing the boundaries.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 18/09/2021 11:57

Mummyoflittledragon · 18/09/2021 11:51

@ThumbWitchesAbroad
Oh ok I wondered if euphoria was code…

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 18/09/2021 11:19

Bu yes, you're absolutely right that it proves how little girls and women count.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 18/09/2021 11:17

@Thelnebriati

But in all honesty I don't think it will go far until someone's child is assaulted/ molested physically.

But that has already happened in the UK.
It hasn't changed anything, which proves the rights and needs of women and girls don't count.

Yes, but the UK isn't as litigious as the USA is
ThumbWitchesAbroad · 18/09/2021 11:16

@Mummyoflittledragon

Thumbwitch Just to get this straight, do you mean the tw had a erection?
Said TW was dressed in girls' sport skirt and wrapped round a pole - couldn't tell. They didn't comment themselves on that specific point.
Forgotthebins · 18/09/2021 11:01

timeisnotaline if you read down to the bottom of the NY post article you get to the Palm Springs report.

allmywhat · 18/09/2021 10:59

“Merager advised he was only showering and did not masturbate or touch himself inappropriately,” reads the police report. “He said that he would defend himself if he is threatened. He said he needs to swim to do his physical therapy.”

The NY Post article quotes the police report directly with the Wi Spa flasher’s unusual surname. They wouldn’t have invented that quote. (I don't think even the US Guardian office would do that!)

allmywhat · 18/09/2021 10:51

Well, that’s interesting. The argument sometimes goes like this:

Flasher is not prosecuted: that was just an innocent transwoman, bigots!

Flasher is prosecuted: that was a cis male pervert and he was prosecuted as he should be, what are you fussing about?

But this seems to be clear evidence of someone using the “innocent transwoman” defence to get away with exposing himself to female children on multiple occasions, eventually getting arrested when he pushed his luck.

Childrenofthestones · 18/09/2021 10:49

Here is a mad thought. You don't have to be naked to shower. He could have kept his costume on.

"At what point can a parent start questioning safeguarding?
Given this is the US, at what point can a parent start suing?
There must be a tipping point or provision within legislation for this?"

Good points, all.
The fact that the man, if it is the same one, has now been charged for indecent exposure (or whatever the equivalent crime is called in the USA) shows that there IS a tipping point.
But in all honesty I don't think it will go far until someone's child is assaulted/ molested physically.

I saw something today from a FB group - a screen grab of a trans woman and a poledancing pole - his "gender euphoria" (ahem) is "x 10000" for being able to be in a class of women doing pole dancing.
Their joy at being in an all-female space is... concerning.

@OldCrone

This individual is legally recognised as female in California, which has self-ID for 'gender'. This is where self-ID leads.

From the NY Post article:

“Even if I was the worst person in the world, you’re allowed to access the facility [of your gender],” Merager says, adding that she is legally female in California. The state’s civil rights law prohibits discrimination based on gender identity and gender expression. However, Merager says the law is insufficient because trans people could be criminalized on accusations of indecent exposure for being nude in changing areas or spas.

The final chapter to this, which I'm sure is why he was in talks with Senator Wiener, is likely to push for criminalising women and girls who dare to complain about naked men in their spaces.
OldCrone · 18/09/2021 09:45

Sally hines and other pro gender types on twitter have been defending this person saying the previous charges sound like sex work and cruising criminalised.

Exposing himself to teenage girls is 'sex work' and 'cruising'?

@rosy71

In my experience women do not tend to shower naked in communal showers or walk around naked in changing rooms. Anyone doing so would be viewed with suspicion.
Really? In the female only gyms I have been in it was the norm to walk around naked for some, but showers did have curtains.
Manderleyagain · 18/09/2021 09:32

TurquoiseBaubles · 18/09/2021 09:32

The last two lines of the NY post story:

“They’re having a tough time tracking me down. That’s good. They’ll find me when I turn myself in,” Merager said. Whenever that happens, Merager expects to be jailed in a women’s facility.

That's great then. Angry

Manderleyagain · 18/09/2021 09:28

Thanks for posting the NYP article.
The press are really leaving this story for Andy Ngo to investigate on his own. The rest of the sis it wasn't happening and risk the integrity of journalism tbh.

From the pov of the girls at the swimming pool, their coach challenged the person so they were backed up at that moment. But then the police took no action against the person because they said they were transgender and were allowed to use the facilities they were most comfortable in.
This shows how the law in califirnia works in practice, and its disgusting. The law is where the problem lies. I assume the only reason the wispa incident resulted in an arrest warrant was because enough witnesses said the person was erect.
