www.worcesternews.co.uk/news/17384498.worcester-transgender-woman-previously-convicted-of-rape-breaches-order/

This is Christopher Worton, who pleaded guilty to five counts of rape against a child aged between 13 and 15 in 2014.

He is now known as Zoe Lynes, having changed his name in 2017.

His defence lawyer, defending him in a charge of breaching his sexual harm prevention order by visiting a home where he knew children would be present said

'the defendant had experienced isolation as a result of her gender transition.'

So not because he's a paedo rapist then?

I just discovered this website and their crime section is horrifying. Apparently, failing to update sex offender registration after transitioning is a common thing...

We have good reason to be terrified for our safety and that of our children.

Of course it's a man giving another man the benefit of the doubt.

Rather than reading it and thinking this is a man who has been convicted of repeated rape against a child and has now breached teh orders against him about contact

He thinks HMMMMMMM what's all this, it could well be that this guy has been unfairly criminalised! I'm going to "do the math" to start digging into whether there's a possibility this poor chap has been imprisoned for consensual sex even though I'm not actually familiar with the laws in the country it happened.

The FIRST instinct was to say hold on how old was he when this happened and maybe he hasn't done anythign wrong.

And then the age. The article says that the rapes were comitted against a girl aged between 13 and 15. And the posters says "It's statutory rape for an 18-year old boy to have sex five times (or once) with his 15-year old girlfriend even if they both feel it's consensual".

So taking the UPPER end of the possible age for the girl. Not the lower end (13).

My first instinct was oh fucking hell another child abuser.

Yes of course there is an awful lot wrong with that post.

SinceYouAskMe · 26/01/2019 17:01

Any thread about a 15 year old sleeping with a 16 year old will see a large number of well-meaning but misinformed female posters saying “the 16 year old could be convicted of statutory rape because the 15 year old is below the age of consent!” It’s a very widely held belief in the UK. But I hadn’t really realised until now that this means many people don’t understand that a man convicted of rape of a 14 year old has definitely had sex with a child against their will and is a straightforward rapist, no “statutory” about it.

StrangeLookingParasite · 26/01/2019 16:35

Oh, look, it's a rape apologist identifying as a 'Dad'

Hey, I don't think that was an especially fair accusation - the thought had occurred to me as well, and I definitly didn't know that was how the law worked in the UK (never lived there).

YankeeDad · 26/01/2019 16:01

Transing after you've been jailed for paedophilia and demanding the 'right' to change your name and not be 'deadnamed' is an absolute and utter gift to paedophiles, isn't it?
^I agree with this 100%. It needs to be stopped.

they have no idea of the law or how things work
^this was true

... and say oh this RAPIST poor fella probably just had a girlfriend and got done for it...
^this is not what I wrote. Substitute "possibly" for "probably", and ditch the "poor fella" since that language assumes innocence to be a fact. I did not. I wrote that I was not sure either way.

My main point in posting at all was actually this: there are plenty of examples where it seems 100% obvious that "trans rights" are being abused by a male sexual predator or otherwise violent criminal in order to escape the consequences of his actions. I want this bullshit to stop. Now.

I am more hopeful that it will be stopped if attention is focused on the obvious examples. From reading this one article, I was unsure whether this one was such a good example.

Danaquestionseverything · 26/01/2019 15:07

Ugh. People need to stop using the fact that young teens experiment sexually as an excuse to justify adults fucking them. Not on.

Peer pressure ( friends bragging about stuff that they probably haven’t done anyway). Sexualisation of children by media/fashion. Prevalence of online porn. I could go on.

I weep for today’s youth. At least I only had to deal with peer pressure.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/01/2019 15:04

There is no such thing as statutory rape here. That is not a term.

Having sex with a child under 13 is supposed to be no excuses but men strangely seem to get away with it.

13-15 the law is there and can be used, however the CPS guidelines say that they are not interested in prosecuting consensual sex between similarly ages teens. However it is there if they need it if eg coercion, grooming, big age difference etc although in practice as PP points out this is not used often enough, society has trouble with teenage girls and the way it sees them is awful but that's another post.

This man is a RAPIST he went to prison for rape of a child no-one in the UK goes to prison for raping a child if they have had consensual sex with a 15yo at 18.

Why the fuck anyone thinks it's OK to swing into a thread about the UK when they have no idea of the law or how things work and say oh this RAPIST poor fella probably just had a girlfriend and got done for it... No thanks I mean really WTF.

He's a convicted child rapist FFS men can't help giivng each other the benefit of the doubt can they which is why women and girls have such a shit time in teh first place

SirVixofVixHall · 26/01/2019 14:40

Good post feministfairy.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/01/2019 08:29

Christ these men don't need "Better Relationships", they need to fucking stay away from women, for good.

I propose a "No Relationships - The Violent Arsehole's Guide To Learning To Accept The Fact That Women Want Nothing To Do With You" course instead.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/01/2019 08:24

'the defendant had experienced isolation as a result of her gender transition.'

If I found out that someone in my social circle had raped a child I'd be far more likely to isolate them for that reason than because they liked wearing dresses. I'm just saying...

feministfairy · 26/01/2019 08:19

Purplewithgreenspots
One of the reasons why abuse scandals in Rotherham etc continued for so long was because the girls concerned were seen as 'consenting' or 'complicit' in their own abuse. It has taken over a decade for professionals to be forced to see that this is 'child sexual exploitation. Because vulnerable girls ran away, said that they 'loved' their abusers etc the police, social services 'took them at their word' and failed to protect them from their rapists. As the scale of the abuse emerged up and down the country, the authorities were finally forced to acknowledge that these teenagers had been groomed, gaslighted and abused. Hence the continued current prosecutions.
We should all be looking very carefully at how our wonderful, intelligent and wilful teenagers can genuinely 'consent' to adult decisions and activities that will have life long consequences. Upholding the age of consent is a vital tool in this.
There are too many people desperate to exploit our children for their own sexual / ideological / selfish wishes. No parent (or other concerned adult) should be ashamed of standing between these people and a child.

SinceYouAskMe · 26/01/2019 07:55

The problem is that about half of UK teens have had sex before they’re 16. If you started prosecuting everyone involved you’d never do anything else.

Purplewithgreenspots · 25/01/2019 23:38

What is the point of the age of consent if you can consent under it? What a fucked up world is it that consent can be presumed at an ever lower age? Convictions may be hard to achieve but my God, why is it thought acceptable for a man to say about a fourteen year old ‘oh but she led me on, she really wanted it’. Angry

QuietContraryMary · 25/01/2019 20:29

Sexual activity with a child covers all kinds of sexual activity. Penetration is Category 1, and if there is ANY aggravating factor (age disparity, grooming , alcohol, racial abuse) then the sentencing range is 4-10 years. If there is NO aggravating factor then the range is community order up to 2 years' prison.

So not rape, but within the sentencing range for rape, wheee there is a significant age disparity

SirVixofVixHall · 25/01/2019 19:33

I am quite shocked by that! I have a 14 year old, she is still a child. Does that mean that if a thirteen or fourteen year old girl was groomed by a man in his twenties or thirties, he would not be charged with rape ? I am really 😮 . I assumed that under 16 you could not consent, because you are a child.

SinceYouAskMe · 25/01/2019 19:28

It is illegal for a seventeen year old to have consensual sex with a fourteen year old (the offence is “sexual activity with a child”) but the CPS guidelines say that as a matter of policy it is rarely in the public interest to prosecute in such cases unless there is some form of aggregating factor. Where the older person is above the age of 18 it’s more likely to be prosecuted but still pretty rare.

SirVixofVixHall · 25/01/2019 19:13

So the consensual sex issue - are there any age restrictions on the man, eg must be only be 18 or under for it to be a lesser crime? I know of a teenager who was essentially groomed at 14 by a young man, who was 18 or 19. I thought that legally under 16 was a child ?

YankeeDad · 25/01/2019 18:51

That would make England more sensible about those cases than the US, where if the parents (typically the girl's dad it would seem) disapprove of a consensual relationship between two teenagers, then one of them (typically the boy) can basically have his life ruined.

abcnews.go.com/2020/Stossel/story?id=4444516&page=1

Anyway … sorry for hijacking your thread. I do agree 100% with your main point, which is that a convicted criminal should not be able to expunge their past deeds from the record by changing their name or legal sex/gender.

BettyDuMonde · 25/01/2019 18:17

In the U.K. the scenario you describe would be prosecuted as ‘sexual activity with a child’ although it’s very unlikely that charges would actually be brought, unless the younger person was deemed especially vulnerable or there was evidence of grooming or deceit.

It’s really fucking hard to even get a rape case to court, let alone secure a conviction. The U.K. system will not waste time and money on two teenagers participating in consensual acts.

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 25/01/2019 18:17

They'll all be at it soon. FFS. This fucking bullshit.

Doesn't do much for transgenerism does it?

SinceYouAskMe · 25/01/2019 18:16

That’s correct: consensual sex with a minor between the ages of 13 and 15 is a different specific offence. It’s only classed as rape if the minor does not consent.

QuietContraryMary · 25/01/2019 18:08

No, that is not the case. Maybe in the US. 100% not in England

OP posts:
YankeeDad · 25/01/2019 18:01

I may well be ignorant of legal practices in this area.

It had been my understanding that an 18-year old could be convicted of rape for having sex with a consenting 15-year old, even if prosecutorial discretion makes that rare.
