So fed up of straight women calling themselves queer because they snogged their best friend in 2003 after too many rum and cokes. You're embarrassing yourself, luv. And as a straight woman, I usually back away from these things because it's not my place. But at least I know what a lesbian is, and it's not a straight woman or a bloke.

They're full on something, that's for sure.

Queer used to be an insult (with faggot and pouf) and homosexual was the factually correct term for gay and lesbian.

Homo = same.

Homosexual = same sex.

If these TRAs muddy the waters trying to redefine perfectly acceptable terms, how can one argue with them?

Textbook definitions should never be up for debate.

Fucking hell. I'm a straight 40 year old woman (the cunty type) and I'd never call someone queer. It was a hideous playground insult when I was growing up.

The word may have been Discordian, a follower of Discordianism
It revolves around the worship of the goddess Eris, who rules over chaos and disorder. It's not a religion, more a loose belief system, and followers aren't supposed to take themselves seriously.
Now, however, it sounds as though the name has been picked up by the woke 'genderqueer' lot, who have no sense of Discordianism's history and certainly no sense of humour!

Oh yeah I had an argument about that in a work training session the other week. Apparently homosexual is out but queer is fine. I said that I think a lot of people aged 30+ still find queer a slur and although I'm all on board with gay people reclaiming slurs I would not feel it was appropriate language for me to use. Eventually we agreed to disagree!

I presume a discordion is one who deliberately and maliciously spreads discord, because they think it is fun. Such characters feature in mythology: Loki, Puck...many cultures had the concept of the trickster god.

Generally things don't end too well for such archetypes...
