Manchester based publicly funded arts centre offers Glitter Tit painting for self-identified women

Owl and Coconut is a Mindful Arts centre in Manchester funded by the Big Lottery, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Santander, Manchester City Council and the Manchester Wellbeing Fund. They have advertised a session using your tits to make glitter paintings as an empowering workshop.

They apparently deleted their post on twitter advertising the session because they were overwhelmed by the number of responses they were getting.

There is a screenshot though.

Twitter would like to know what safeguarding they have in place for an event where women are exposing their breasts and making art with them alongside self-identified women. They haven't responded.

Also I'm not sure how putting glitter on your tits is empowering.

I've always managed to drink loads of prosecco without ending up smearing my boobs with glitter

am I doing it wrong?

Melroses · 07/02/2019 08:59

It sounds like one of those things that become a really good idea when you have just drunk all the Prosecco.

AhhDamnIt · 07/02/2019 06:29

The wording (for all self-identifying women) makes it sound like it is for biological males only anyways

Yeah, that's how I read it. I don't think its intended demographic is women at all.

I have been prit sticking my boobs for days in preparation

AncientLights · 06/02/2019 18:48

Oh no Popchyk! Bad news indeed. Gutted. I'll have to do my own glitter tit rolling at home now [Shock

Popchyk · 06/02/2019 18:32

Terrible news, people.

Looks like Owl and Coconut have quietly dropped their Glitter Tits (open to all self-identifying women but we're sure that no pervs will want to come, honest) event.

Was supposed to be on Friday 8th February but it has been removed from eventbrite and is no longer on the Owl and Coconut's own events calendar.

Mindful arts centre Confused
Whatever

Needmoresleep · 21/01/2019 00:07

Do they allow people to go along just for the Prosecco?

BubonicTheHedgehag · 21/01/2019 00:04

AGP stamped all over it.

It's fucking creepy.

ZenNudist · 20/01/2019 23:37

I live in Manchester and I'm a little bit mind blown that people want to go to something like this. I too read it as self-identified women ie. Men. Figured its a bunch of trans people with too much time on their hands...

Anonandannoyed · 20/01/2019 23:29

Their building is next door to a primary school.

SheldonTheWonderShlong · 20/01/2019 23:25

But what if they don't have boobs? That's exclusionary. Bigots.

Twunk · 20/01/2019 23:15

Women don’t go for this shit, surely?

Anything that says “for women” on it attracts... a certain type... of person these days. People who like lady things. For lady people.

littlbrowndog · 20/01/2019 23:04

So they get a grant for doing this being inclusive and all that
Then on next grant thingie they can say. Wow we’re are so inclusive

Oh god I'd forgotten about that one NotMe. Bleugh

It makes me think of the 1990s with all that new age 'Spirit Horse' bullshit. A bloke I know went to a tantra weekend that was full of dudes and only one woman who wasn't much up for it.... I wonder why....

WeRiseUp · 20/01/2019 22:30

Only a bloke could think this is a good idea.

AngryAttackKittens · 20/01/2019 22:25

I remember that! Apparently participants were supposed to do this on narrow benches, because why not be physically uncomfortable and in danger of falling over at any moment while you're being perved on by a fetishist?

Purplewithgreenspots · 20/01/2019 22:18

notme 🤮

NotMeOhNo · 20/01/2019 21:56

This sounds like that workshop in Coventry, was it, where a transwoman was advertising a several hundred pound event for biological only women, where the presenter would encourage fondling clitorises in front of each other.

Yeahnahyeah · 20/01/2019 21:42

I suspect this class was aimed specifically for men who identify as women, but that they have tied themselves up in knots with the wording, as to specify would go against the TWAW narritive.

vaginafetishist · 20/01/2019 21:31

In the interest of fairness, I do have to report that my local Unitarian chapel is doing a course exploring masculinity for all self identified men called 'It's not about the beard'Grin

AngryAttackKittens · 20/01/2019 21:10

Sadly the reality is likely to be 4 or 5 terrified young women who really desperately want to seem woke and empowered and a bunch of creepy pervs with their phones out taking pictures.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 20/01/2019 21:05

I agree with bowl, please, please let the only attendees be male

Grin

that would be hilarious
