Good on RTE for not caving in to the woke fury.

The Independent website is turning into a load of DailyMail recycled trash. They have an agony aunt letter beside the Glinner story 'Dear Mary: I'm a lesbian in a man's body' which looks like an obvious convenient made up story to me.

Also, their constant use of child p*rn instead of images of child sex abuse makes me want to puke every time.

The level of knowledge and reporting is pathetic.

Penny - good to know! I'm slowly trying to convert people informally. I think once it's explained, people do see sense. We just need to reach critical mass.

CountessConstance - absolutely agree that Glinner's a useful ally. However, until we have women who can speak up and say they don't want men in their refuges, changing rooms, toilets - and saying why - the libfems will decry him as 'mansplaining' to them. Sadly I think the libfems are just as, if not more, determined in their rush to sell women and girls down the river. I've even seen some of them say that this is a 'UK problem' and GC Irishwomen are West Brits.

It is shocking the first time you realise what is happening.

Am shocked at the response @Glinner is getting on twitter today. I have been on the periphery (mainly for mental health reasons) so havent seen it happen before, only in retweets where I havent read all the comments. most of the transcult are really aggressive and genuinely batshit. And they have the shittest memes.

I am well able to speak for myself BUT that doesn't mean men will listen.
You see it in all sorts of scenarios...once you're a woman, it doesn't matter how good or logical or strong your argument is, it will be listened to once it's supported by a man.

So, Glinner is a useful ally.

Unfortunately he seems to be getting a pasting on some of the Irish chat boards, and the headlines all seem to be about the petition to silence remove him.
Little listening to the facts of how trans rights are being used a sheep's clothing for abusive or perverted men.

I think there are more GC in these Right On organisations than they’d have you believe though- I know someone who works for one of the big trade unions which was all over the repeal campaign, Irish water and now the housing crisis. They had a chat with their head of Comms who said the organisation wouldn’t be touching the trans stuff with a barge pole as it’s just mental and wouldn’t be supported by the members.

It's mortifying that Irish women need a man to speak up for them - even moreso a man that doesn't even live in Ireland. Much as I admire Glinner, we need Irish women living in Ireland to speak up.

I work for a very right-on organisation and I would be in serious trouble if I came out as gender critical and I'm sure it's the same for a lot of us. I've never felt so much an outsider in this country as I do now and so disconnected from people I thought would be my natural allies.

Interestingly there was an article in the independent last night stating that there were petitions to remove Glinner from the programme. The tone was definitely incredulous & that G was some kind of looney. The article disappeared & reappeared with a more even tone this morning.

A quick search for this online, brings up lots of hate for Glinner. Lots of headlines about the petition to have him removed from the programme.

Which really begs the question...... if he is so wrong in his thinking, surely the best approach would be to debate his points with him and identify the flaws in his argument.

Is Glinner the only GC person appearing do we know? I really hope they have equal representation of both sides of the no debate.

Do you think we'll get an answer to the question of what rights trans people DON'T have that everyone else does? Or it'll be the usual 'NAMALT, NATWALT, be kind we just want to pee in peace' type of event?

I'm a bit nervous for Glinner, actually, but if he can get more of the general public to see that the emperor has no clothes and bring their attention to the massive safeguarding issues, it will help with tide turning.

Sorry I also think he will be excellent and articulate but they also did try to get Irish women on the panel

I was asked to participate but I was afraid of going public. Maybe that’s why Glinner is on - he’s not afraid for his job. I know it’s awful and I will have to confront it but I am just starting out in a new career - retrained in my 40’s - so I need to be in there a few years first.

I'm hoping that this will open people's eyes. Very few Irish people are aware of what's going on and most who give it any thought think we're talking about Hayley Cropper types so can't see a problem with it. I think this could be a WTAF? moment for a lot of people.

Katispancuddly thats said a lot but its not true, there is no provision in the act that hospitals wards will be kept single sex (in the actual meaning of sex) nor as far as I'm aware has the HSE said that

To quote myself from another thread about prisons: "Under current Irish law you can't move prisons if you are in the prison of one sex you cannot be transferred to the prison of the other sex as its down to warrant issued by the court (although thats probably ripe for an ECHR case)

The court could decide to issue a warrant for a transwoman to a womens prison, theres nothing stopping it and if you read pg 18 and 19 of this pdf (from a few months after self ID) its said that they go on whats on a persons birth cert which with self ID is changeable
