More AGP fantasies. Expected solidarity obviously.

recent article, 'The Elephant In The Room' by Sue Donym
concludes:
"Autogynephilia is a weird concept. It can be inaccessible. But it needs to be discussed in the LGBT community, and openly. Not talking about it is causing way too much damage — we have had our organizations taken over, our spaces colonized, and our sexuality redefined. Thanks to these men, you can no longer say ‘I am, gay, meaning exclusively same-sex attracted’ without being labelled a TERF. That’s not a good thing.

Dancing around the subject isn’t helpful. While the ultimate result of autogynephilia is homophobic rhetoric, is important to remember that a sexual fantasy, not homophobia, motivates such rhetoric. That is the root cause of the problem.

Worse is the effect on autogynephiles themselves. ‘Transgender’ is not an umbrella. It is a term that erases the very different motivations and causes of various forms of gender dysphoria. It does people who claim the label absolutely no favors. The original inclusion of the ‘T’ was designed for homosexual transsexuals, and include them with other same-sex attracted individuals. It was not designed to include autogynephiles, who are heterosexual males, or ‘queer’ individuals who are heterosexual but believe dying their hair some variation of neon should mean they are included. Making ‘transgender’ an umbrella not only erases the very different causes and struggles associated with homosexual transsexuality, it also obscures the causes of, and struggles associated with autogynephilia. Autogynephilia is not a condition I would wish on anyone. It is a unique, somewhat bizarre struggle, and reading through many of the accounts of it was quite sad. It can make its sufferers lonely and unable to connect with intimate partners. But enabling it, and on a grand scale, has caused immense damage to homosexuals, particularly lesbians, who have lost almost all their spaces and communities to colonization.

Please discuss the elephant."

Holy, I’m so sorry he was abusing you. Glad you’ve seen the light and put him out of your life. Narcissistic abusers do tend to get cross when rumbled, as you’ve seen.

Holymozes · 18/01/2019 22:45

I used to be handmaideny.

I’ve just received a long email from an ex “trans” friend who claims I am a bad friend and no longer the woke “ally” I used to be. All written in “nice guy” terms about feelings and “support against the cruel world” etc

When we were “friends” he:

-worked out secretly I have an abusive family background and used that to ascertain I was vulnerable and cross social boundaries

-“accidentally” sent me pornograhic pictures (I now realise he was trying to get a reaction).

-sent me regular messages asking got solidarity about all the “trans abuse” he faced. Basically AGP fantasies.

-sent me messages about all the “trans SEX abuse” he faced. He liked to present himself as a sissy slut available for sexual degradation online but all the men sending him dirty messages was “proof” of how much men secretly wanted his middle aged male body. More AGP fantasies. Expected solidarity obviously.

  • Had a lot of exhibitionist fantasies and wanted to involve me in them. When I visited his home all the neighbours seemed to look at us like we were weirdos - I think he’d been putting out rubbish in a slip to get people looking at him.

-Suppprting cross dressing? Yes, I was so “woke” I was up for that. What he meant by that wasn’t being out in public in a casual dress with it and being cool with it. Oh no. He wanted to wear silky lingerie and wander around in front of me in private.

Fuck off to the far side of fuck with your self pitying “ally” bollocks.

HermioneWeasley · 18/01/2019 22:05

My considered opinion is that she can fuck off.

thefirstmrsdewinter · 18/01/2019 22:01

'Why transpeople should support feminists rights' - fixed that for you Amelia.
Sorry to be glib, I can't watch it. Woke bros are annoying but it's a new level of depressing having a woke woman lecture me on 'should'. And anyone who uses the word support in that nebulous 'I'll be there for you' bullshit way, I just don't have the time or energy.
I think it's fair to say that 80% of us have been progressive 'supporters' of various right on issues over the years so what can it be about this issue that has our hackles up? Here's an idea, how about looking at women as fully formed individuals with their own interests, beliefs and priorities who don't just spring into being when they turn up as a supportive rent-a-mob?
Oops, bit ranty.

Oldermum156 · 18/01/2019 14:48

I did for a long time, but transgender don't support women's rights, so I no longer care about them tbh

Holymozes · 17/01/2019 16:04

It’s not “being supportive” though? It never is. I’m a nice courteous person (used to be “woke” type).

It’s spilling into indulging AGP by claiming we’re turned on by sticking a dildo up a fat middle aged white dude’s bum, whilst he’s wearing a pink tutu because “we” want it. And he’s also “one of the girls” we should feel sorry for 🤷‍♀️

Agree with pp about classism as well. Vulnerable women from difficult backgrounds lacking confidence are going to be the ones expected to make concessions and shamed and bullied for not using the right language.

CroneXX, this is a really insightful comment.

“ou want women-who give birth to the next generation & care for elderly relatives plus have an eye out for safeguarding of everybody's children to take on responsibility for even more people-including men (they do not know).”

It explains why men get to be so critical of the movement, but women are threatened with violence. At some level the TRAs are so deeply indoctrinated with gender stereotypes, that they are outraged to the point of blind rage, that many women refuse to care for them. Maybe it’s some peculiar narcissism which has never forgiven their mother for weaning or something, and every time a feminist refuses their demands they kick and scream like a baby refused a teat.

I’m not serious about that really, but their rage is not rational or justified, it’s that of someone who feels they have been deprived of something they had no right to in the first place.

Coyoacan · 16/01/2019 23:49

It is an interesting example of propaganda

All very emotive and a clever confusion up of facts. Men are so dangerous that some men have to come into our spaces to get away from them, but how transphobic of us not to want men in our spaces.

ChewyLouie · 16/01/2019 23:48

Thanks R0wantrees looks like the book is going to be pretty much what I expected.
Crone I think that may have been due to a cut and paste error that merged two different sentences. I’ve corrected it, I don't want to be a part of feminism.

The best bit is how she sets out her stall by discussing her sex-in-the-city-style lunches with the "girls" in restaurants they can't afford, before slipping in life expectancy figures for TW living in third world slums and working as prostitutes. Classy.

frazzled1 · 16/01/2019 22:41

Amelia describes going to lunch with three of my female friends.

Then mentions that one of those friends is trans. (She seems to avoid saying TW, lots of talk of trans people).

Just wow. TWAW not enough Amelia? Are TW now female? Shock

Later: yes, a woman can be anything? Guess that anything includes being male.... Hmm

littlbrowndog · 16/01/2019 22:21

All this stuff is so classist. Is that a word but you know what I mean

R0wantrees · 16/01/2019 21:15

Feminists should support transgender rights. Why? If transgender women are women then why the rallying cry to feminists who already centre women? Unless..... psst the speaker thinks transgender women are not who they say they are!?! She has a book coming out in May, any publicity is good publicity.

Proofs of the book

I saw Stonewall's tweet about this, referring to trans people dying at the hands of evil feminists

Always women to blame for everyone’s problems.

The 2012 Swedish study suggested trans people need ongoing psychological health care. The push to transition and consider it a cure is at the root of this problem, not women. Moreover, if the treatment wasn’t moving towards affirmation of something that can never be true, and instead concentrated on managing impossible expectations and desires, then everyone would benefit.

ChewyLouie · 16/01/2019 18:48

Tedious .

As for the tweet, apparently 1.8 people die every second, I expect feminists are to blame for that too.

VickyEadie · 16/01/2019 18:22

I saw Stonewall's tweet about this, referring to trans people dying at the hands of evil feminists (or some such - I'm not exaggerating that much).

So, no Stonewall, I won't listen to shite endorsed by an organisation that makes such blatantly false, inflammatory claims about the likes of me.

OrchidInTheSun · 16/01/2019 18:15

Amelia is queer. I'm still not entirely sure what this means. Is she a lesbian or a heterosexual woman who wants to make herself sound more interesting. The loudest non binary person I know is a heterosexual woman in a long term relationship with a man which is why I ask.

From what I can see, queer and non binary are just ways for middle class white kids to make themselves come across as a bit edgy but I'm happy to be corrected.

FiLiA's recent reply to Sally Hines by their spokeswoman, Heather Brunskel-Evans is a good antidote an also applicable to this talk:
