Read all about the protest staged in Macclesfield bar after they banned a member for her “transphobic” T-shirt

57 are going, and 142 are interested

They will need to stock up on the fruit cider.

WSPU · 14/01/2019 09:51

Brilliant 💪🏼

CrazyToast · 13/01/2019 23:08

Perhaps we need to go for a drink too during that 'invasion'. Could be fun.

OlennasWimple · 13/01/2019 22:19

Good job, women of Manchester!

WokeNotBloke · 13/01/2019 22:08

All power to Posie for driving 200 miles with the t-shirts. Well done ladies - nicely done.

I still can't quite grasp how we came to the point where it's a radical act to wear the fucking dictionary definiton of woman on your bosom. And as for appropriating it.... errr... I think we were here first, by about 400 years Hmm

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/01/2019 22:03

I suspect the pub would prefer a bunch of well behaved women having a drink than a gaggle if greetin’ ninnies having a collective fit of the vapours over a T-shirt.

2019StandingforWomen · 13/01/2019 21:51

Fantastic well done brave women.

theresaspiderinthesink · 13/01/2019 21:36

re-appropriated

GirlDownUnder · 13/01/2019 21:28

Pam Grin maybe March will be cold this year

theOtherPamAyres · 13/01/2019 21:18

57 are going, and 142 are interested

I wonder whether the staff will allow them to keep their balaclavas on.

GirlDownUnder · 13/01/2019 21:10

Brilliant Manchester ReSisters, and Posie, hope you had fun too.

It should be noted that already 57 are going, and 142 are interested. As there is a two month lead time, it will be interesting to see who makes it.
Maybe they should book a table!?

Zwischenwasser · 13/01/2019 21:03

I follow a few blue—haired Wokemaidens on social media, as real life Friends and they dont know my radfem leanings.

This T-shirt incident has caused a slight pause for thought in a few of them. We had predictable fury about the Get the L Out. Rage at Man Friday and lots of shouting down of Let a Woman Speak with calls of Transphopia.

But now they are getting cross that a woman going out in a T-shirt defining ‚‘woman‘ made the boys cry. I really hope this is a turning point that makes them think. It actually feels like a few of them have paused the rhetoric to ponder.

It’s a funny old world.

Terfing · 13/01/2019 20:46

You ladies looked like you had a lot of fun! Keep up the good work!

Doobigetta · 13/01/2019 20:39

In MARCH?! They need more than TWO MONTHS to arrange for a few of them to go out for a drink?!

So much of this reminds me of Buffy season six. The Big Bad was a bunch of nerdy kids furious with the world because they couldn’t get a date or function in the real world outside their mums’ basements, and yet they nearly won...

DJLippy · 13/01/2019 20:33

It looks like we might have to cover this “appreciation INVASION as well...

Compare the photos of the Manc Resisters with any photos of TRAs protesting outside women's meetings.

Note the geniality, the happy uncovered faces and their positive attitude to staff and customers. Take note, too, of the humour behind the determination to 'make a noise' and demonstrate solidarity with a woman who was treated abysmally.

This is what peaceful protest is about. This is the kind of action where communication with bystanders is possible and encouraged. This is the complete opposite of the bullying intimidation of TRA protests.

I applaud you, Resisters. Your action speaks volumes about the way that adult human females conduct their business and stand up for themselves.

Doobigetta · 13/01/2019 19:23

There was a beardy dudebro at the bar who looked distinctly pissed off, but I didn’t detect any tears.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/01/2019 19:16

Did you make the boys cry though?

Doobigetta · 13/01/2019 19:13

Woo, can I out myself? I was there too. Courage calls! 💪🏻✊🏻🚺

To be honest, we didn’t have to be all that brave once we were in there. They were really nice and brought us extra stools and everyone budged up so we had room to enjoy our lime and sodas.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/01/2019 19:00

And they stole the trans flag colours, the horrid creatures. Purple, white and green.

feministfairy · 13/01/2019 18:43

All credit to the Manchester Resisters!
And as for 're-appropriating' the word woman from the odious flip flop. If only he had empathy, or insight, or ethics, or morals or even respect for women....

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/01/2019 18:33

Don’t mess with Mac Lasses. No really, just don’t 😁

SunsetBeetch · 13/01/2019 18:32

Well done Manchester Resisters! And Posie. Great to see. Women will not be silenced!

MiddleAgeRage · 13/01/2019 15:01
