So, an actual real- life male porn actor can see that this is wrong and is happy to say so on Twitter but an NHS doctor can't?

The unholy grouping I mentioned in an earlier post gets curiouser.

AngryAttackKittens · 13/01/2019 22:12

Bruno is correct that in those kinds of clubs sex happens in spaces where an clubgoer might randomly observe it. Which is just one of may reasons why a child should not be performing in that kind of club. I mean, great that his mum is with him, but does she lead him around with her hand over his eyes?

Beerflavourednipples · 13/01/2019 22:03

Well, I kind of wish that I hadnt clicked on 'Bruno Balls XXX (18+)' account (defo NSFW!) but at least he is calling out this shit. He is on Harrops thread.

Yes, Section 28 was really that bad. There is a massive difference between teaching children that homosexuality exists and is OK and signing kids up to dance on stage in front of adults who're throwing dollar bills at them.

merrymouse · 13/01/2019 22:01

Children can and do know their sexual orientation long before they are legally able to have sex.

Well yes - given that plenty of people have sex before they are legally able to have sex.

NotANotMan · 13/01/2019 21:59

Gay children exist.
Gender non conforming children exist.
None of that means that children in an adult sexualised environment is acceptable.

merrymouse · 13/01/2019 21:58

If you mean section 28, yes it really was that bad.

MargueritaPink · 13/01/2019 21:58

I still say an 11 year old cannot be gay or queer when the age of consent is 16

That is nonsense. Children can and do know their sexual orientation long before they are legally able to have sex.

MargueritaPink · 13/01/2019 21:55

Was section 21 really that bad

What was section 21?

I assume a typo for section 28.

MargueritaPink · 13/01/2019 21:54

Really concerning that a Doctor doesn't seem to be able to see why this is wrong

He is having a reasonably polite discussion with Caroline Farrow. Of course actually agreeing that Caroline Farrow might have a point about anything is probably beyond him.

I have seen criticism of this from The Daily Wire/ Ben Shapiro , Blaire White, James Dreyfus, Caroline Farrow and Mumsnet. Dr Harrop presumably thinks he is morally bound to take the opposing view if this (unholy grouping) are the people who are condemning it.

merrymouse · 13/01/2019 21:53

Beerflavourednipples · 13/01/2019 21:44

Neither of the boys have expressed a sexuality as such as far as I know. If it was truly about them just being GNC though, they wouldn't need to be so sexualised (and they are sexualised) they could just wear what normal 9/10 year old girls wear.

In that post, Desmond's Mum says they only go to family friendly/child appropriate events. She has obviously changed her tune since then, may be now that Desmond is a whole 10 years old she thinks he is old enough for non 'family friendly' stuff?

Am still baffled as to why that drag queen in naked in the original picture. It doesn't seem to be on Lactatia's Instagram anymore though.

merrymouse · 13/01/2019 21:43

"gay and queer kids exist and their identities are valid"

Doesn't matter how they identify, no child should be dressed up in a sexualised way to entertain adults.

A lot of the commentary on twitter claims that this would be acceptable if it was a girl - NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!

Really concerning that a Doctor doesn't seem to be able to see why this is wrong.

Earlywalker · 13/01/2019 21:32

Where are his parents in all of this Sad
How can it ever be acceptable for a photo of any child to be stood next to a naked adult, careless of who either are, and to publicise it?!

As an aside though, of course it’s possible to know you’re gay before age 16.

AngryAttackKittens · 13/01/2019 21:29

If you have a child who likes dressing up and dancing there are lots of things you can sign them up for where they will be surrounded by other children who like dressing up and dancing, rather than by drunk adults. Desmond's mum should tone down the "how dare you question me?" stuff and look into those options, it's not like they don't exist when you live in New York.

Thingybob · 13/01/2019 21:24

Margueritta

MargueritaPink · 13/01/2019 21:21

Fancying someone or adult role play (as a child) is not the same as adult sexual attraction

I didn't say it was. The boys are now 11 or 12- saying they can't be gay or queer is pointless now. The point now is how they are expressing it.

Thingybob · 13/01/2019 21:16
  • Retrospective condemnation
Thingybob · 13/01/2019 21:14

Not sure about that. Children won't have adult sexual feelings but these boys are 11/12. They are old enough to know about, for want of a better word, fancying boys and girls

These boys both started drag and dressing in a sexualised way at 8. Fancying someone or adult role play (as a child) is not the same as adult sexual attraction.

I can't help but feel we need to completely take stock of what we as a society are teaching our kids.
Was section 21 really that bad and has it's respective condemnation been used as justification for teaching (and celebrating) diverse sexuality and identity?
Is Pride really so great and should kids ever be involved in such a sexualised adult event? I inadvertently got caught up in a march once and it made me as an adult feel very uncomfortable. I would never publicly display my sexuality in the way the marchers did.
Why is the media so keen to celebrate and promote everything other than plain old vanilla?
Why are Drag Queens and materials teaching gender and sexual identity being introduced to children as young as 3?
Why can a child not be celebrated for being GNC in a non sexualised way?

Bowlofbabelfish · 13/01/2019 21:11

The LGB need to stand up and distance themselves from this. I’m genuinely not sure what’s going to happen here. Part of me thinks a backlash, which will include genuine transsexuals and LGB and another part thinks this will continue to be creepingly normalised.

It’s hoRrendous to see a child used like this. It’s sexual abuse and on any other contrxt it would be seen as such. The trans Teflon needs to be questioned.

Poor little kid.

MargueritaPink · 13/01/2019 20:53

Why? Neither boy nor their parents say the boys are trans.

I don't see , other than drag and cross- dressing are dragged under the general LGBT umbrella that this has anything to do with trans issues in the narrower sense.

Terfing · 13/01/2019 20:48

Is this child on puberty blockers? It may explain the mal-nourished look?

MargueritaPink · 13/01/2019 20:46

No, no, no, gay and queer kids do not exist Dr H, a prepubescent child does not have adult sexual feelings or a sexual orientation

Not sure about that. Children won't have adult sexual feelings but these boys are 11/12. They are old enough to know about, for want of a better word, fancying boys and girls.

The point about whether they are or aren't gay or queer isn't the point. The point is they should not be allowed and encouraged to behave in a blatantly sexual , adult way

Thingybob · 13/01/2019 20:27

I see the Dr has waded into the debate regarding Desmond and his argument seems to be "gay and queer kids exist and their identities are valid"

No, no, no, gay and queer kids do not exist Dr H, a prepubescent child does not have adult sexual feelings or a sexual orientation.
