Why is it either/or?

Either you make your son wear 'boys' clothes, play with trucks and support a football team, or you let them pose with naked adults and dance on stage in adult nightclubs for money?

Is there no middle ground according to Harrop?

For a doctor he comes across as incredibly thick.

NonHypotheticalLurkingParent · 14/01/2019 11:23

I took one screen shot. I never take screen shots but was so shocked by his tweets that I had to. I only took one of the first tweet - where he implies people, sorry I mean folks, who don't think this is a good thing don't have legitimate concerns.

He went on to say that drag is not all sexually fuelled, some are very tame. If you have 'concerns' you're homophobic. Let your child explore their identity, what ever it is. He ended with a rhetorical question (paraphrased) - 'Would you rather the parents force their dress wearing boy to fit in with gender stereotypes?' . Think he thought this was his gotcha to us.

Naming the child “Lactatia” is one of the creepiest bits of this wholly creepy ituation.

BiologyMatters · 14/01/2019 10:56

It's child abuse, plain and simple.

merrymouse · 14/01/2019 10:51

Re: the Dr, one would hope that the BMC are a little less open minded about children being sexualised and a little more worried about grooming.

Did anyone get screenshots?

Datun · 14/01/2019 10:44

The mother is talking about an 'iconic merkin'. Is she referring to the pubic area of that man? Because he's wearing a pubic wig to make him look like he has female genitalia?

She sees nothing wrong in this? With her 10-year-old standing next to him looking arch?

Might be something to do with the man who popped up to say just what went on in those clubs? And confirmed it was certainly no place for a child.

StealthPolarBear · 14/01/2019 10:37

) If this brave new world is in the best interests of our kids why is such a paradigm shift not being led by child development experts?
This is a really good point. I wish RCPCH and the association for young people's health would issue their position on all this in the UK.
I also wonder how children this young are allowed into these clubs, are the laws looser in America?

Newsername · 14/01/2019 10:36

I was thinking about the name “Lactatia” too. No child would come up with that. So perverted and wrong.

Also, the mum says they never would have released that photo themselves. In the screenshot on the article it very much looks like it's from Lactatia's Instagram (it says 'queenlactatia' at the top). It's gone now funnily enough.

Beerflavourednipples · 14/01/2019 10:27

Also, I wonder if they have ever said why the name 'Lactatia'? I cannot see any other link with that name apart from a fetishization of breastfeeding? And am assuming Nemis didn't come up with it himself because, what child would think of that?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 14/01/2019 10:27

I’d the human body is a beautiful thing why drape it in fishnets, BA air stewardess circa 1972 makeup and false eyelashes, wigs, etc etc

Beerflavourednipples · 14/01/2019 10:25

So Lactatia's mum (presumably) has replied to it all - apparently anyone who objects to this is just a 'hater' because the human body is a beautiful thing. And in the comments (which are limited and few) compares it to a child being around a man in speedos at a swimming pool/beach. A nice rainbow there as well, just to hammer home the point that if you object to this you are a homophobic bigot who will be on the wrong side of history blah blah blah.

This is plain and simple grooming isn't it? Getting a child to think that something that really isn't acceptable and normal, is acceptable and normal.

kids shouldn’t be in any kind of late night/club/pub environment full stop. Most regular pubs which welcome families in the day have an evening cut off for allowing younger people in. That’s just your common or garden British pub where no one is doing anything more outré than having a pint and some crisps, because it’s not a suitable environment for children.
No child should be in a club type environment full stop. No child should be doing drag. No child should be subjected to, exposed to or involved with any kind of sexualised/adult environment or performance.

Why aren’t child services involved in any of these ‘drag kid’ cases?

merrymouse · 14/01/2019 09:47

Daddy and Daddy loved each other very much so they ...' can be explained as producing a baby

I don’t think it would be much more difficult than explaining adoption to a young child.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/01/2019 09:36

I'm not so sure that sexuality is as clear cut as that. The genre of school stories shows girls having crushes on each other and on teachers. I had both. They were not sexual. Then there are many women who only discover a love/sexual attraction for women in middle-age (as opposed to men who lead a double-life).

The other issue is about how we teach children about reproduction and sex. I do think that 'this is where babies come from' is a sensible place to start and that the stuff about sexual attraction the red haze of lust should come later (at puberty or thereabouts). Having said this, I'm not sure how 'Daddy and Daddy loved each other very much so they ...' can be explained as producing a baby, but I'll leave that to greater minds than mine :)

deepwatersolo · 14/01/2019 09:07

Anyone feel like we are being played for the screenshots?

If so, dear screenshotters, can you do me a favour and explain to me the principle difference between Bacha Bazi and the performances of Lactatia and Desmond?

deepwatersolo · 14/01/2019 09:05

Saying that 10+ children don't know who they are attracted to is nonsense.

It is. I had my first crushes with three or four, even though any sexual component came much later (yeah, like 10+ maybe). It was always males (Not saying everybody is necessarily as stable regarding the sex we are attracted to, but I suppose a fair share are and from a young age).

Bezalelle · 14/01/2019 08:58

everyone’s afraid to speak out

Yes, well that needs to change pretty fast, I'm afraid. No sympathy for a community that fails to whistleblow where kids are concerned.

GoGoJo · 14/01/2019 08:58

GerryblewuptheER · 14/01/2019 08:58

For the people on Twitter going "oh it's just homophobia because nobody would complain if it was a girl" I just want to ask, wtf kind of places have you been hanging out in order for that to seem like something nobody would object to from your perspective?

It's strange isn't it. I mean a child shouldn't be in a nightclub at all. Ever. Let alone at 3am. Whether the kid is a boy or a girl.or it's a gay bar is irrelevant.

Unless there's a flight to catch for a holiday kids should be in bed at 3am.

NotANotMan · 14/01/2019 08:50

Children do experience sexual responses from the onset of puberty, which is often under 13!
Saying that 10+ children don't know who they are attracted to is nonsense.
