I listened to most of the KF livestream. It was...interesting. It highlighted JY's greatest hits in the form of screencaps etc, and yes, JY seemed very flustered to be called on the telephone. Wielding power to shut down speech through largely automated copyright complaints on the internet is not the same as being confronted with a reaction from the live person you're threatening. (And despite the reputation of his site Null the KF proprietor was very polite and didn't, I think, cross any lines during the very brief phone conversation.)
The KF community uses a lot of language most of us here would find extremely offensive. And yet, as I understand it, the right to free speech is precisely the right to utter offensive speech, so long as not a direct incitation to violence. And it is a limitation on the powers of government to decide what is acceptable and unacceptable speech. I remember learning back in high school about the Skokie case as the classic example of free speech law (in the US, not everywhere, clearly). I still believe that it is a more powerful response to offensive speech to counter it with our own ideas and arguments than to shout #nodebate and no-platform people.
That's a long way of saying: of course I wish there were a place on the internet that would keep these receipts on anti-woman activists without all the slurs. But there isn't really, is there?
p.s. Null excerpted, at length, Peachyoghurt's video about JY, as well as Benjamin Boyce's video. That is sunlight, and it is a Good Thing.
