I'm betting on a combination of brazening out after clocking that the silencing attempts aren't working, as well as trying to get every remaining GC person on twitter to lose it and get banned.

YY. I've just read the timeline and it's batshit.

teawamutu · 27/12/2018 09:16

In the last few hours he's tweeted dozens of times, including support for Morgane Oger, retweets for sex toys [boak] and musing on whether to use his Victoria's Secrets discount[boakboakBOAKboakboak]

Someone actually sent him hugs because of all the transphobic abuse. Wtaf?

Interesting timing Wink

I watched the KF stream last evening and was pleased to see PeachYoghurt get a mention. Among the usual silliness, she received a lot of positive comments from the troops.

HandsOffMyRights · 27/12/2018 08:17

Yaniv's @trustednerd account is now open again, according to Twitter, using the male name.
Warnings that this is being done to 'bait' women.

There are loads of sites offering to sell twitter followers. . To get as many as JY has would cost around $1,000.

Almost no-one seems to reply to JY's tweets despite the apparently huge number of followers. The article above explains how to spot where this has happened.

TimeLady · 27/12/2018 07:47

I waded through 58 pages of the KF thread yesterday and yes, the language was robust, but it was very informative. So I'm grateful to Null and KF for providing a space which documents and archives sometimes unsavoury material, when bigger commercial platforms are caving in to bullying behaviour.

And Flowers to the poster who produced that portrait...and owns the copyright Grin

NotBadConsidering · 27/12/2018 05:52

I had no idea you could bulk buy them anywhere Confused. So is the point to give the appearance of popularity with the view to enticing in real followers? I wonder if anyone of note is a genuine follower.

Yeahnahyeah · 27/12/2018 05:40

NotBadConsidering I assumed you could bulkbuy them like on FB?

NotBadConsidering · 27/12/2018 05:16

Can someone explain how someone so odious can have so many twitter followers?

And again. It’s going to disappear soon so why bother? The issues on this thread are important.

NotBadConsidering · 27/12/2018 02:48

Bumping this. Can everyone stop engaging with the troll?

Terfing · 27/12/2018 01:17

That's a good argumentative piece on Kiwifarms. I can't say that I like that website, it it has been very useful to me since I've become gender critical.

Hackedoffwoman · 27/12/2018 01:17

EH? WHAT THE FUCK.

Nudibranch · 27/12/2018 00:50

They are starting to do their own art now at KF now too, seeing as JY is claiming all his photos as his intellectual property in his takedown attempts on various sites Xmas Grin

Josh "Null" of Kiwifarms wrote this piece on Medium as a response to another Medium article which criticized the site for its callouts. It raises a good point. While KF may be distasteful in a lot of its content, it is fast becoming one of the last places you can freely name abusers without being banned or censored.

medium.com/@ItsJoshProbably/while-well-written-and-more-on-the-mark-than-other-articles-trying-to-explain-the-same-thing-your-f41bb7404203

--

"While well written and more on-the-mark than other articles trying to explain the same thing, your fatal flaw is shared in that you fail to identify an alternative. You could argue that’s not your job, but if you want a truly persuasive essay it needs to be. “Here is the problem, here is the solution.” Your writing begs an answer you cannot provide. People can criticize the site all day, and I frequently do myself, but your faced with one primary problem.

The forum was never meant to be a place for “callouts”, a bizarre symptom of Tumblr that I barely understand. It just became one. And, while we have an enormous library of threads regarding transgender subjects as you’ve pointed out, I still get people who are transgender participating actively within the community as spectator, and contacting me directly for help with problems.

Someone comes to me one day, months ago, and tells me they’ve been molested by another MtF. The molester offers free room and board to other MtF transsexuals and since a lot of trannies are destitute and ostracized from their families and homes, the person talking to me is left little choice but to take what seems to be a very fortunate and generous offer. What they don’t know is that the offer is being dangled out by an abuser, and after getting intoxicated one night was raped by them and another roommate. The video of two sober people taking advantage of a clearly intoxicated person ends up on this person’s blog in a directory called “/sexypics/”, because they’re showing it off to other MtFs.

What you don’t understand about trans people is that they are a huge club, and if you go against the club’s rules, if you cause higher ups in the club problems, you’re out. If you report one of these abusers to the police, you’re disinvited to the club for quite literally being a snitch. Trans people don’t like the police, you see, so talking to the police is snitching. People out of ‘the club’ literally cannot donate their time. A trans person who had committed an offense against more well known trans people was not allowed to volunteer at a trans woman’s shelter because they were known to have reported on abusers to the manager of the shelter.

You call them marginalized, and perhaps they are in some senses, but they’re also very protected. It’s difficult, in the mainstream society, to be offensive to trans people and keep your job. Keep your social media accounts open. Keep your site up and running. It’s easier just to let them do what they want. So when serious violations of human dignity occur, when serious violations of the law occur, where do you go to report that when Facebook will close your account? When Twitter will delete your tweets? When Medium will remove your article? When Reddit and Tumblr mods will ban you? Where do you go to sensationalize a bit of drama you know is important but no one else wants to touch?

You go to an Insane man on the Internet with no assets and his club of bored weirdos. Because he’ll listen. He’ll feature it on the front page on a website that gets hundreds of thousands of views a day, each visitor looking for exactly what you want to give.

You can call out my website for its various problems and offensive nature but until there is actually a place you can speak freely regarding abusers in your sensitive communities it will always be the go-to place."

Yes AAK sadly that's it Angry

Vegilante · 27/12/2018 00:14

criminal laws are in place to stop anyone of any gender behaving in a threatening manner in a toilet or changing room, or harrassing or attacking people

This is disingenuous at best. Laws prohibiting & criminalizing certain acts are not very effective deterrents. They allow offenders to be prosecuted & perhaps punished after they've committed criminal acts, but they do not prevent or eliminate such acts from happening in the first place. Far from it, especially in the case of sex offenses committed by males against females. What's more, enforcing such laws after the fact usually comes at great expense to the victims, who are forced to endure fresh new hells in order to get their assailants investigated, tried, convicted & punished.

Nor do criminal statues offer girls & women any protection or refuge from such acts or their perpetrators in the first place. Only girls' & women's hard-won sex-based civil rights allowing for single-sex provisions offer that sort of protection.

Also, as NothingOnTelly said, many male behaviours that violate female boundaries & make girls & women feel embarrassed, encroached upon, uncomfortable & at risk are either not codified at all in criminal codes, or - if they're included - count as low-level criminal offenses or merely civil ones. And again, the onus is on the victims to get the law enforced after they & the law have already been violated.

The KF community uses a lot of language most of us here would find extremely offensive. And yet, as I understand it, the right to free speech is precisely the right to utter offensive speech, so long as not a direct incitation to violence

In the most rudimentary liberal terms yes. But remember that this is the same underpinning of liberal feminism and of neoliberalism and it's the same ideology that is used to defend pornography. I'm not so sure that liberalism is women's friend. Having said this, I think that if you (generic you) actually go and reads Rousseau, Paine, Locke and especially JS and HT Mill you'll find that it wasn't this simple and that these enlightenment thinkers (much the same as Plato and Aristotle) had a broader vision of a 'good society' and 'good government' whereby an educated populace bound together in the common good would not set the bar that low. Having said that, I think some of the best feminist critiques are from the late 1980s where liberalism is exposed as a malestream ideology.
