And he did it with the most derogatory angry expression on his face.

Personally, I just don't believe that JC is a very nice person.

I really struggle with pedestal he seems to have been placed on.

I can't see (or can find) evidence of him embracing any cause other than that which self served his "rebellious" back bencher persona. A "rebel" without a clue how to actually govern a nation.

He comes across, to me, as cold and deeply egotistical.

Years of being a "fringe" MP then being catapulted to leader (by a series of miscalculations) seem to make him feel validated for his previous stances.

He's not a leader of his own party (wrt to a lot of MP's who are biding their time, or actively plotting to get rid) let alone a leader for the country.

I've always been left wing, but my goodness pigs will fly before I vote Labour again (I resigned my party membership last year) whilst he's leader.

I'm politically homeless and it's bloody annoying when I hear the woke brigade laude JC for his ethics, when for my part I simply see him as the "flip side" of Jacob Rees-Mogg (whose views and arrogance I find equally abhorrent).

BubonicTheHedgehag · 20/12/2018 01:55

Teresa May and Jeremy Corbyn both appear to be horribly weak persons and puppets.

could not vote for either party at the moment, Or the LibDems, Plaid Cymru, SNP....
Lots of us are currently disenfranchised.

AngryAttackKittens · 20/12/2018 01:40

It was both depending on what device you viewed it on and whether or not you were tired at the time.

BubonicTheHedgehag · 20/12/2018 01:32

So: was the dress blue-and-black, or was it white-and-gold?

HelenaDove · 20/12/2018 01:30

"Helmet do you understand how people can be annoyed with what Corbyn said AND be critical of TM too?"

Is that why this thread is up to nearly 500 posts within 24 hours and the thread about the Parlimentry hearing on Universal Credit isnt yet 20 posts long and that was posted back in October.

Here's another one for all you lip readers out there.

DandelionsAreNotLions · 20/12/2018 00:53

This is getting a bit like That Stripey Dress now.

Woman/people blue/gold.
People's perceptions aren't always accurate. But yet the column inches, the tweets, the memes. . . oh what fun we can have.

Aristaeus76

Ok. I've just watched the incident for the first time. He clearly said people. It's not even remotely unambiguous. Unless there is another clip from a different angle that I haven't seen, I can't see how this is even up for debate

Same here. There is no pouting then opening the lips to make the "wuh" sound in woman but itsnt the clearest . And the second part is much more clearly "pull" as in people.

I thought that myself all day but wanted to check friend who teaches lipreading in the States and she agrees and said Glennie et al may have seen a different angle. She also says there are always differences of opinion with lipreaders and those that lost hearing rather than were born deaf are often better lipreaders as are more able to read mumbles and regional accents.

Enjoy the distraction from actual politics kids as the country goes down the Swannee.

And anyone that equates caring about whether or not he said stupid woman or stupid people with the amount of homelessness in the UK and people freezing to death on the streets, people starving and having to rely on food banks, women not being able to leave violent men because of austerity, needs to re-evaluate their priorities.

Pythagonal · 19/12/2018 23:57

Why can't Jeremy Corbin attack Theresa May's policies without resorting to personal insults?

Had he muttered 'stupid policies' under his breath, I would have agreed with him.

onefootinthegrave · 19/12/2018 23:57

Of course you can care for more than one thing at a time. I don't care if JC said stupid people or stupid woman. Both are accurate, and if all people can talk about tonight is if JC is a misogynist then it's letting this awful government and Theresa May off the hook for everything they're doing that's destroying our society and playing right into their hands. I'd say it's idiotic not to see that.

Riotingbananas · 19/12/2018 23:52

Theresa May doesn't get a get out of jail free pass because the leader of the opposition is doing a poor job of opposing.

But does that make him calling her a stupid woman and then lying about it OK? Of course not. He's always been a terrorist apologist/anti semite/mysogynist. Just that his mask slipped a bit further today.

thegreatbeyond · 19/12/2018 23:49

I'm a Corbyn supporter - but this has upset me a lot. He definitely said it. I don't know if I can continue to trust him.

littlebillie · 19/12/2018 23:41

Getting away from all what's going on. The House of Commons has a protocol set in stone the fact that JC has such contempt for the House never mind May is very disturbing. The language and protocol keeps the debates civilised. From where ever you stand this is disturbing and a dangerous sign.

BeardedMum · 19/12/2018 23:28

Parliament is full of stupid men and eomen these days

starcrossedseahorse · 19/12/2018 23:22

x-post Silly

starcrossedseahorse · 19/12/2018 23:21

Once again with the idiotic polarising of views!

It is possible to think JC a sexist pig AND TM a hopeless PM. The two things are not mutually exclusive.

SillySallySingsSongs · 19/12/2018 23:20

The amount of homeless people has gone up tenfold since even last year, it's a disgrace. I know which party is doing more to tackle that, and yet people are on here ripping apart JC for calling her a stupid woman. What's more of a priority?

As has been said numerous times people can care about more than one thing at a time.

onefootinthegrave · 19/12/2018 23:17

I'v not long got home from the West End. My son was at the theatre with his friends and I wandered around the Strand & back streets of Covent Garden waiting for him to come out.

There are a lot of us who will refer to someone by saying 'awful woman' what a stupid man' - I'd rather say that than awful bitch, stupid prick' It's nothing to do with misogyny. In fact the more I think of it I think it's a generational thing. My nan never swore but she would say things like 'terrible woman' 'wicked man'.

And again, TM is far more misogynistic than JC is - she demonstrates that in her policies.

SisterOfDonFrancisco · 19/12/2018 22:48

What is the offending word here? Stupid or woman? Unclear.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 19/12/2018 22:42

I think he said “people”. But actually I don’t care. She’s stupid and she’s a woman. If Rees-Mogg had been fulminating up there, “stupid man” would have been appropriate.

MaisyPops · 19/12/2018 22:40

SkullPointerException
My question over whether it's misogyny is whether stupid man would be levelled at a man doing a crap job and I think it would.

She is a stupid woman the way she is handing (or not) the current situation. I've called her a lot worse. So has DH. Does that make him a misogynist? Or just a man with an opinion on a PM who is behaving appallingly?

Ooooooooooh Jeremy Corbyn, indeed!
I'm going to assume that's some sort of implied claim that anyone who thinks it's not that big a deal must be in some corbyn fan club. Confused

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 19/12/2018 22:36

His lips don't close at the beginning of the first syllable though. They move forward to make a woo shape.

SkullPointerException · 19/12/2018 21:44

She's in a government propped up by the DUP, HER Brexit secretaries keep resigning, 1/3 of her party don't support her, she's recklessly throwing around No deal whilst accusing anyone who challenges her as being a conspiracy theorist in project fear.

That's all true. So she's kind of a bit crap at her job then?

Boo-fucking-hoo! I'm ex-Labour, so I think she's quite a bit more than just a bit crap at her job. She's atrocious for what she has achieved and cringeworthy when she's not achieving it.

Boo-fucking-hoo, though. Still doesn't grant Jezza a get out of jail free card regarding misogyny.

Ooooooooooh Jeremy Corbyn, indeed!
