Apologies if this has already been posted. Did a quick search and didn't find anything.

Michael Conroy attended and recorded a mermaids training session. It's hair raising listening.

I believe that someone is working on transcribing this, which will hopefully make it easier to analyse. But wanted to post it to make sure it hadn't been missed.

Jan Mermaids representative said:

"Pride is not just for the LGBT population, it’s for their, their friends and supporters as well, and it’s not Gay Pride by the way. The first Pride was a riot and it was started by two trans women and also it’s not a parade, it’s a march. Until we’ve got global equality and safety, it’s still a political march, and then again raise awareness and positivity. "

This is not true.

crsacre · 29/05/2019 22:05

Jan from Mermaids states "last year in the United States, 330 trans women of colour were murdered."

In fact the total number of trans people murdered in USA was 26.

An example of the absolute nonsense that I think the Mermaids Trainer is talking is the section about fertility preservation. She states that

"Once you are 16, if you’ve socially transitioned at a young age, you’ve been on blocker medication for at least a year to allow you that thinking time, you’ve continued with your assessments with the experts at the clinic, you have your bloods and bones checked regularly and you’ve thoroughly explored your fertility preservation options and preserved your fertility if that’s your wish then you may – and it’s a massive huge may – be offered a very, very low dose of cross sex hormone which will mimic the start of the second puberty."

So she is claiming that these children can go from puberty blockers - to preserving their fertility at 16yrs - and then straight to cross-sex hormones. However these children will not have gone through puberty and this is what the Human Fertilisation and Embryo Authority state about fertility preservation before puberty:

"If you haven’t gone through puberty yet and you’re keen to start hormone therapy or puberty suppressing medication as soon as possible, it may be possible for you to store your ovarian tissue or testicular tissue, which can be collected via a surgical procedure. These treatments are experimental and there have only been a very small number of resulting live births worldwide following replacement of the ovarian tissue. It is unclear at present how stored testicular tissue would be used to restore fertility: this has not been achieved yet. It’s also worth bearing in mind that very few clinics offer these treatments so you may need to travel some way on multiple occasions to have this procedure."

So the reality is that for a female, who has been on puberty blockers and plans to commence cross-sex hormones, the option for preserving fertility is the collection, storage and then experimental use of ovarian tissue (most likely in a surrogate) which has only resulted in a few live births worldwide.

For a male, the option is the collection and storage of testicular tissue, which is so experimental that it is unclear how this can be used to restore fertility.

It is imperative that Mermaids are called out on the seriously inaccurate and misleading information that they are imparting on their courses.

It seems like it's every week I read a post that details a diversity session or assembly at a school, usually somewhere in the UK, and if it's not Mermaids it's another charity which has the same principles in their training.

Can someone reassure me that this is not the epidemic it appears to be?

Memaids, No Outsiders, Allsorts, Stonewall, BISH & similar companies /lobbygroups/organisations are attempting to influence schools.

When the content of training such as this is made available for scrutiny its difficult to imagine that they will continue to maintain their power for much longer.

Its worth speaking to governors and senior leadership though. Show them the training (highlighting some of the most obvious issues may hep) and give them copies of the Transgender Trend resources to consider alongside.

Its much easier to stay objective when reading the transcript or listening to the training rather than being in the room.

Jan said she goes to primary schools, I can't believe this is allowed let alone encouraged.

Jan said twice 'My background is in education' rather than for example as most trainers say in their introduction, 'I worked as a primary school teacher for x years' or 'I'm qualified as a .....'

What type of 'education background', do schools ever ask?

There's so much in this training which is misleading, false, misrepresentative and manipulative.

Is Jan advising the DofE or is this bragging rights?

(extract)
"Now because my background is in teaching and I do a lot of work in schools, I’ve been getting some verbal feedback, no one is collecting data on this yet but I have put it in my report back to the Department of Education because I think it needs looking at because I’ve been getting feedback that you know when you get a year six and they all get their own phones? If this has been done right the way through infants and juniors and built on every year as part of PHC, they’re much more careful about what they look at and what they put out and I think that absolutely needs investigating a bit more." OhHolyJesus · 29/05/2019 21:03

Just read the transcript. I'm not sure whether it was tougher to read or listen. Either way my blood pressure is through the roof again, I'm so angry! I know why this is happening and I know why no one is stopping it from happening but still...why is this happening???!!!! How can people not see through it?

Jan said she goes to primary schools, I can't believe this is allowed let alone encouraged.

Do I need to home school my kid to avoid this utter nonsense? It seems like it's every week I read a post that details a diversity session or assembly at a school, usually somewhere in the UK, and if it's not Mermaids it's another charity which has the same principles in their training.

No shame at all.

Toilets, changing rooms, swimming, residential, etc. etc. The Equality Act is unambiguous, it is crystal clear. Gender neutral facilities are absolutely fine but that is not a disabled toilet with a sticker on. You can’t prevent anyone from using the facilities of the gender with which they identify and are living as. If someone complains, you provide an alternative for the person complaining, that is the law.

R0wantrees · 29/05/2019 20:22

PencilsInSpace

They really have no shame do they?

PencilsInSpace · 29/05/2019 19:31

From the Mermaids spoiler statement:

The governor insisted on attending the session but did not challenge the points made during the talk. Only at the end did he make his comments.

From the transcript:

If you do have any questions, can I ask you to just write them down and then if we haven’t covered them by the end then please do ask. If people ask questions throughout, I normally find myself saying we’ll get into that in a minute and it will just slow down.

PencilsInSpace · 29/05/2019 19:13

This baby hasn’t even taken its first breath. As my gran would say, it’s still cooking, and we put our binary mind-set that is our culture onto that child. I'm not saying it’s right or wrong but it is what we do. For most children, that is absolutely fine because most children will fit somewhere within their [unclear 0:16:30] boxes

Mermaids think it's 'absolutely fine' to inflict gender bullshit on most children because they 'will fit somewhere within their ... boxes'.

PencilsInSpace · 29/05/2019 19:01

Thanks R0wan!

We are part of an LGBT Plus consortium and this consortium works with the Department of Education and the Government’s Policy Office. So as well as bringing training into schools, we’re also developing the LGBT lesson plan to go into the national curriculum and that’s in accordance with the OFSTED framework that was updated in 2014 to include LGBT understanding throughout the schools in the UK.

Important info for anyone talking to their MP about RSE.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 29/05/2019 18:59

They are planning on doing lesson plans.......

They need to be banned from schools. I can't believe what I just read.

O and the bloody dimmer switch working as light spectrum nonsense is still there!

Not sure if anyone wants to transcribe to compare and contrast?

whatsthecomingoverthehill · 08/02/2019 14:58

I came across this tweet on toxic masculinity that had gone viral. Great, making a stand against gender conformity I thought. And then the tweeter said to donate to mermaids. I genuinely don't get how you can be against a man getting shamed for wanting a hot chocolate but supportive of a charity that says a boy playing with a doll is actually a girl.

No analogies the trans cult use work.

They dont. Not unless you’re reading this underwater in the warm but tickly embrace of an anemone

BettyDuMonde · 29/01/2019 07:45

I thought treating passing/non passing trans people differently was one of the big no-no’s for avoiding accusations of transphobia? Along with not having genital preferences.

Robin doesn’t seem to be making a very good job of this transally business.

Maybe the wizards can help?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 28/01/2019 20:23

Wizards? I remember reading somewhere that Harry Potter has a lot to answer for (all the young uns telly really really wanting to believe in magic and all that). They might be onto something.

It reminds me of the comedian who had a tour called something like ‘Jesus is magic’ which was her and her husbands end-all top trump answer when the kids asked hard questions.

🧙‍♂️ sheesh. A 🧙‍♀️ I might believe.

Makes perfect sense to me pencils

Wizards

PencilsInSpace · 28/01/2019 20:12

I believe 'relationship purposes' Robin has addressed this issue.

Wizards apparently.

On request, of course.

No analogies the trans cult use work. Humans aren't fish, men aren't women.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 28/01/2019 20:03

I have a comment on the clownfish analogy. It doesn’t work. We have people born without limbs, there are animals in the sea and on land that can regenerate parts of their body. That doesn’t mean amputees should be able to also grow their limbs back. Trans people have their body’s cut and shaped to resemble that of the opposite sex, we don’t say that is comparable to natural changing of sex in some animals, the same way we don’t compare a prosthetic limb to the same standard as a starfish that grows back a limb. It just doesn’t make sense.
