disrespectfulpenguin · 12/01/2019 21:39

It is when you see red flags all over the place.

AhhhHereItGoes · 12/01/2019 20:44

The problem is not the intentions of Desmond or Nemis or even their parents (although of course if their are nefarious reasons that's not acceptable) but of those who pay to see this kind of act.

Sure some may just love the liberation and non societal bend but many may be titivated by this and although it may not be the intention, it will be the result.

I don't think a boy dressing up like this and doing it at home or in front of family is inherently wrong if they feel comfortable, but to commercialise it seems so tacky. If it's truly about being themself it's surely enough to be accepted by family and friends?

I have trans friends but underage sexualisation of any gender identity is not acceptable.

I personally think although it may sound conspiracy theory esque that part of big business, government and aristocracy is being involved with paedophilic lifestyle of some sort, or at least accepting it.

Schmoobarb · 23/12/2018 12:11

I have a boy the same age, this is so awful:(

Terfing · 23/12/2018 12:05

Can someone post this on AIBU? I'm on my iPad and can't get the links up. We need to get the word out. This is child abuse.

MrsJayy · 23/12/2018 11:16

I agree with you Terfing

Terfing · 23/12/2018 11:14

This needs to be posted on the main boards. It's a scandal. That poor child. Sad

OrchidInTheSun · 23/12/2018 09:59

Desmond has appeared on God Morning America

Anyway, I digress... Point is a) one or both of the kid's parents being a club kid sounds and an interesting and plausible theory, and b) cannot believe that little boy was interviewed by a convicted murderer

They're a bit too young, aren't they? My guess is that they're wannabies who idolized one of the most unpleasant club scenes in living memory and it's that desperation to be part of something that's motivating them to push their child into places where they themselves wouldn't be welcomed. It's pretty repulsive, and I hope at some point someone in social services sees past all the glitter to the child who's being exploited by his horrible famewhoring parents.

deepwatersolo · 19/12/2018 08:47

Any youtube link?

MargueritaPink · 18/12/2018 17:27

Not one person interviewed had any redeeming qualities, apart from Angel's brother (who was the only one who displayed authentic human emotion or anything approximating empathy). The rest were weak, at best, and in thrall to a sociopath or perhaps, just exploiting what they could get from his proximity. Repulsive

Yes, I meant to except Angel's brother from my condemnation. The 2 women, Gittsie and Brooke were as bad as the men. "James St, James" was loathsome.

Thanks for that link Pencils - it sent me on quite a macabre internet rabbit-hole. What struck me the most from reading about the Club Kids was that none of them cared one of their 'friends' was murdered, and none of them cared who did it. The callousness of finding it funny, laughing about wearing the dead man's boots, taking the piss out of how uncool the victim was, spending his money, boasting about what happened. Ya know, this is one of those very rare occasions where it feels appropriate to name something as evil.

MrsJayy · 18/12/2018 14:28

Yes on both counts.

The sexual undertone is no big deal to me as long as everyone involved is an adult.

Take drugs, get into avant garde fashion, try and sell your art, run nightclubs, fuck your way to the top of your little social circle , fill your boots whatever, just keep kids out of it.

MrsJayy · 18/12/2018 11:01

The sexual undertone is also disturbing as i said I watched it years ago but they just all seemed turned on all the time

The clubkids documentary is just depressing isn't it?

KirstyAllsoppsFatterTwin · 18/12/2018 10:34

Are you saying you don't believe he is?

No, I'm saying the opposite. Hence why I said 'why did we not see that one coming?'

There is a strong link between autism in young people and confusion over gender identity and his parents seem only to happy to push/exploit this in their son. I meant that now I know he has autism I am less surprised by the whole sordid thing.

MargueritaPink · 18/12/2018 00:53

The club kids documentary was horrific it was on late one night years ago on ch4 it certainly wasn't cutesy it was drugs/sex/drugs/sex... oh and fighting

Just watched it. What a bunch of truly vile and worthless people.

DandelionsAreNotLions · 18/12/2018 00:13

I'm wondering if one or both of Desmond's parents were involved in this scene in their youth.

I'm guessing they just wanted to be.

Was it ?

RuPaul is listed as a Club Kids member on Wiki. I'm wondering if one or both of Desmond's parents were involved in this scene in their youth.
